Lets consider, then, what it means to be the "United States of North America".

1. A State is a geographical location that shares a common law. It can be democratic, theocratic, Royal and blah blah..

2. United States means that a variety of states with separate laws come together to make a common law between them. During the Lincoln War, the southern states discovered that the northern states were financially taking advantage of their slave-plantations by overruling slave laws. They decided to abort their unity based on economic inequality and were promptly submitted to the bayonette. Since their submission was NOT voluntary, it is very clear that the "United States" are NOT united. In fact, it is an oligarchy of nothern businesses that control vast amounts of territory and the taxes that are generated by that territory. For this reason, POSSE COMITATUS is the real rebelion against that culture of abuse that is still ongoing.

Follow the money. The United States belongs to SOMEBODY. That person or group of people are the ones killing all the folks who don't like their system.
