Regina, Saskatchewan UFO?

Got no pics or vids or anything, I live in Saskatoon, but I talked to my brother yesterday, he's in Regina, and he said him and his friends saw the most amazing thing they've ever seen the other night in the sky. He said it looked like a time portal exploding, like something straight out of a sci-fi. He said it was huge and fairly close. He said that later on the news it was mentioned to be a meteor. Is that what a meteor looks like? I know the ones I've seen appear just as "shooting stars".

I would have thought if it had been a meteor, and that it looked huge, your friend would have been vaporised!:eek: Did he mention any sound?

I'm going to talk to him more about it after work today. I just had a breif discussion with him about it yesterday night on msn. And I'm not sure how close it actually was, he's obviously not the only one who seen it as it was on the news.
