i know im not mike, but i had this a few weeks ago, although with my little finger, getting more and more numb with every few days - turned out to be a trapped somethin or other just above my elbow
One accupuncture session sorted it out for me :D

I've had this problem too from time to time. It's a pinched nerve. Pinched nerve numbness can recover if you end the irritation. I had the little finger of my right hand go numb for a while, it was from the way I was using a woodcarving gouge in an art class in college - I was holding it with the little finger tightly wrapped around the metal shank. Went away after the semester was over.

I usually ignore "ehow" answers, but this one (http://www.ehow.com/how_5199086_relieve-fingers-left-hand-right.html) is a good summary of what I've learned over the years. When I was in high school I had problems with my left fingers. It was from sleeping on my left arm during an excessively dull history class (I earned a B, despite napping in class every afternoon). Doctor told me to stop sleeping on my arm and gave me exercises similar to the ones in the link.

Possibly carpal tunnel syndrome?
I once damaged my radial nerve in the upper arm . they call this condition "saturday night palsy".I drank excessive amounts of beer and Jaggermeister one night. I woke up in the passenger seat of an SUV with a hand, wrist and forearm that was limp, numb and felt more than just 'asleep', it felt like it fell into a coma.
Anyway ,shit took 6 weeks to go back to normal..
Might want to try an anti-inflammatory like Ibupropen or stronger. cause it's usually swelling around the nerves that cause these things.

This could be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Try taking Vit B6, and let me know if there are any improvements.
Depending on which fingers are effected, it is more than likely medial or ulnar nerve inpingment (probably due to minor muscular imbalance). The patterns are demonstrated quite clearly here:

A good therapist should give you exercises to do outside of treatment, in addition to manipulation.
Physio is best. But I am biased!

If it's the thumb, index and middle fingers, that is definitely carpal tunnel. I know. (It's a different nerve for the ring and little fingers). It can happen due to repetitive use causing swelling, or if you're overweight that can put pressure on where the nerve passes through the wrist. Mine always go numb when riding motorcycle. I wear wrist braces to bed and that helps, but haven't for a while.

This can be a sign of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - the compression of the Median Nerve through the Carpal Tunnel. Try taking Vit B6 for 2-3 weeks and see if there is any improvement. If not please get back

If the Doc thinks you may have Carpel Tunnel, then they send you for nerve conduction tests, to see if there's any damage to nerves. I have problems with my hands and all fingers. But the tests said it wasn't my nerves.
