If youve already imprisoned yourself by getting a needless loan, mortgage in particular, then you will know debts lesser evil twin.....thats right ...WORK!....Debt demands you work, you cant pay it off without.imprison yourself even more by getting a job you hate, but it pays the bills, doesnt it?....Does anyone think that work is soul destoying?...unless you genuinely enjoy what job you do.To me its another control, keeping you down there and a big debt keeps you there.Honest opinions please.....dont be proud!;)

honestly I think that industrial and office work are what destroy the soul. Good old farming is healthful and invigorating (unless you have a lazy attitude, brought on by living in an industrialized environment)

youve hit the nail on the head there, industrial and office work.I find its extremely rare that anyone likes that kind of work....if you ask 'em its always.....its a job, isnt it?...if you hate it,leave it.i know its easy to say,but people get themselves into that situation with debt.I cant for the life of me why folk imprison themselves by buying a house. It is just bricks n mortar.I think the british are obsessed with wanting to own their own property.why?

I always thought that we as humans were destined for far greater things than labour. I don't think we were ever meant to live like this. I think the native peoples of the world were the only ones to be living the correct life but, I think that if we have a fair balance of our high technology and Native ethics, we could create a Utopia. Maybe we've had to live in bondage to truly appreciate freedom when it comes.
Personally I despise work, but only for the MAN, working for my Family in my own business though, is a feeling of satisfaction that I don't have the words to describe. You know you have an importance in life.

Because they've bought into the idea - fostered by the elite - that, unless you OWN (never mind that you don't 'own' your home till your mortgage is paid,in 25 years) you haven't 'made it' or are 'not successful'. Thatcher started the rot in the early eighties by giving council tenants the right to buy their own homes, inferring that to rent, was somehow inferior.
So, snob & class-ridden culture that we brits are, we swallowed it hook, line & sinker.

That is a SUPERB reply,my thoughts exactly.you mention you rent and you are scum.People think they own their house, they dont. The selling of council houses was just a ruse into making people think that they were in control of their own lives.Theyre not. Before the the miners strike there was a sense of community, just, but since then its everybody for themselves.Keeping up with the jones is the norm now,its quite sickening.Theyve got a new conservatory, think ill get a bigger one.im gonna be sick!!

I absolutely AGREE! I retired from a career in education before the proper pension time. However, I started working with horses-equine massage-to be exact! WOW!!!!!!! Just one look at me with my hands on a horse and everyone says, "You have never looked happier". Awesome and inspiring.
By the way, also sold my country club condo and moved to a rental on a ranch. Goodbye, headaches, back pain, nausea, sleepless nights and a big ETC>

I despise it too,it feels unnatural, working for big companies whos only aim is to make money out of you.Im not having it,i aint gonna be nobodys slave.get to 65 and nobody will give a shit(im only 46,by the way).If you spend most of your life in labour,in particular for someone else, then whats the point?.its a waste of life.

So you think you own your home when you pay it off, eh? What happens if you don't pay your yearly land-rent? Doesn't someone with a big gun come and kick you off your OWN property?
I heard that land-patents can avoid this mess in the US. I haven't read enough on it.

this was a much better presentation about the year 2012 than most of the information from Jose Arguelles.
That calander started 16 billion years ago and it ends in 2012; all about the evolution of consciousness. BTW the true meaning of the word Apocalyps is.... revelation! (Not big destruction as Hollywood would like you to think).
Than we are now living in the last 5 years of that 16 billion.
What if this is right? I can't let that go.
What do you want to do the last 5 years of that evolution?
What if 2013 comes and it is all the same?
For me that would be a big joke; I will laugh myself to the afterlife.

Couldnt agree more I choose to do voluntary work get no pay but rather poverty and debt collectors looking for money I don't have than a life in a soul destroying job I hate. And I have had some real corkers of jobs. Like having to do the same thing 300 times per hour for 12 hours per day, 4 days a week.
No thanks, rather be my own boss and poor.

Over here (UK) we dont usually pay land rent. We own the half acre our house's on, so if anyone comes with their gun, they'll face an even bigger weapon - my mouth.
They don't scare me. I've raised children!

'Koyaanisqatsi' is One of my all time fave movies - it summons up exactly what I feel about society & this world. Philip Glass's music is brilliant too.
Have you seen it?

Since 1,5 years I am not working. I have some savings, but it is mainly in my housing. I am considering selling it; so that I have more time and money free to contemplate about the meaning of all this.
Sometimes I feel the wind of the rat-race come near to me; that is when I ask myself questions like: I have to DO something. If I am with "old" friends and they ask: "what do you do now?" I feel that wind coming up like a tornado. If my answer is: "I am contemplating", we all start laughing, but I know mine is most sincere.
Sometimes when I get that doubt, that guildfeeling, of doing "nothing" (but contemplating) I pick up my bike and go to the central station at 08.00 o'clock in the morning on a weekday. I just sit in a nice coffee restaurant and I will be the only one having a coffee and a croissant very quietely; the rest in the rat-race, well they don't see eachother, they drink their coffee looking at their watches and their minds are already at their work, while their body still have to go.
I can't imagine going back into that artifical race ever again.
Writing this: I will call a real estate agent very soon now and than I am off,
wherever I take me.
I wish you the best of luck! Good for you. I have to wait till my other half decides to move before I get my share & start to live like I was meant to. I walked out of my job 1 year ago. I'm too long in the tooth to be someone else's lackey. I now do the thing that I should've done YEARS ago; Paint!:)

Here, here, nice to see people agree with me.I was half-expecting a back-lash. the song "Bitter sweet sypmphony",by the Verve just about sums things up.

we should be entering the "5th day" sometime in 2007. That means 2008 (the 5th night) is going to be a barnburner-- literally
i'm bringing s'mores to toast at the big bonfire of the vanities!

Labour is a curse, you do feel we are here for better things.
When you think about it took 4.5 billion years to create you and me and we end up in a warehouse counting tins of beans and other totally mindless, utterly soul destroying jobs.very frustrating.

I have a degree in English literature specialising in medieval languages , and I ended up working in a factory putting the backs on TV sets on a production line. Not even screwing the backs on , somebody else did that.
I ended up having a complete breakdown and becoming mentally ill and chronically depressed , unable to do anything for many years. :( I've suffered on and off with depression since I was a teenager in the 80s and this just made it worse !

sorry to hear that friend.
I really dont know how people put up with those kind of jobs, maybe cos theyre up to their eyes in debt.
Its all part of the control, keep people focused on their misery and toil and struggle to survive and they wont see us coming up behind to stab them in the back.bleak,i know.somebody wants total control.

You totally need to trust me on this....take a high quality Vitamin B-Complex. Take 2 a day for a week and then go to one a day. Never ever skip a day. I have suffered depression all my life also and I too was an 80' teen. Not sure that has anything to do with it, but I PROMISE you, B-Complex (high quality, not some on-sale crap) is a miracle cure. You are going to have clarity like never before...please trust me on this.
