View Full Version : I have a question for Mr. O'Reilly...

What if, in all the posts welcoming masonic3, most of us were actually trying to help him?

What if he's just a young person, making a big mistake?

I have a buddy whose son just enlisted in the airborne infantry and is heading for iraq. I had half a mind to call him up and ask him what color was the sky in his world. I didn't, because the damage had been done, but if I had known beforehand, I would have called.

But no, none of us are allowed to hurt anyones feelings these days, it seems.

If you disagree with me, you may hurt my feelings. Sometimes shocking people is the only way you can wake them up.

I agree ad hominim attacks are not the most effective way to construct an argument. And maybe plain talk can be a little rude. But I don't see Mr. Icke pulling any punches in his writing. If Gerald Ford had been an admin here, he would have banned David had he posted about all Gerry's extracurricular activities.

And we would probably still be ignorant about them.

So there's a fine line between abuse and straight talk. Thank you for volunteering to be a mod, Tonto. "Thank you for your service", as the mock patriot talking heads like to say here in the states. It's no fun being the umpire when the stands are filled with drunken unruly fans. Hey, we're into freedom, baby!

So, you might try to rein everyone in before you shut down the thread, and get them to focus on the big picture; we're not each others' enemy here, we have more in common than we do differences, and we can agree to disagree at times.

Just a suggestion. :)

Tru3, Tonto is not here at the moment, so as another forum advisor I'll attempt a response on tonto's behalf.

The thread was closed because it had started to deteriorate somewhat and the 'welcome theme' was no longer relevant. Had tonto not done so, I was about to close the thread myself. However, although now closed for further postings, the thread is still available for people to read.

Masonic3 may well benefit from some helpful advice from members of this forum in the manner you have suggested, and I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to have such exchanges on other threads, after all, many have welcomed masonic3 to the forum and he is now an established poster here ...is he not?

Thanks for your input. :)
