I just watched a doco on ancient Egypt and they said that during the mummification process they removed the brain thruogh the nose and then threw it away. The other organs like the heart, kidneys etc were placed in jars and stored in the coffin with the mummy.
Does anyone know why they threw the brain away?.
Cheers,

egyptians considered the heart as the seat of a person's soul/mind. hence it was left intact in the body. the other organs were considered of important value also and placed in jars. the brain held no value to them and they would pass a device through the nose into the brain and swish it around until it became goo and take it out that way. logistically they couldn't really preserve the brain so that's why it probably was discarded. the physical heart could reallly correspond to the heart chakra also.

Interesting. Seems strange that they held the brain in such low regard since its where all our thoughts, memories etc take place.
Maybe they thought that to have a good reincarnation the soul needs to be free of its past materialistic memories and only the love thats associated with the heart chakra is worthy of moving on.
I'm just thinking out loud so maybe way off course here.
Thanks for your reply

what i have pondered to myself about ovr the last little while regarding the egyptians and there mummification is the possibility that by mummifaction the soul might be able to break free of the boundaries created by our 5 sence 3D limited view of ourworld ??
ya never know the mummification proccess may well be a way for the reptilians to return to the galaxy or universe/parallel universe they came from or perhaps to a demonic afterlife in which they would prefer
but ya know anything is a posibilty until we know the truth ,indeed if we ever know the truth .
mmm mummies :)

Maybe they thought that the brain was just like a central processing chip directing and re-directing things in the body. The spirit lives on when the body is burned, cremated etc. I am sure they had very advanced knowledge that has been witheld from us by governments etc.

Maybe it was about preserving DNA to have pyramids of DNA to browse through, when about to make new attempts?
Who told Egyptions to keep some parts in jars? Is it not true that Mummy DNA could still be taken from some of these mummies even today?

Very true about the DNA, Now I am thinking of the film "The Mummy" On a more serious note you raise a very good point, I am sure they could clone with the dna in the jars.
