Anyone here read Raymond Briggs' 'When The Wind Blows'?.
Raymond Briggs also wrote 'Fungus The Bogey Man' and 'Gentleman Jim'.
These are 3 of my favourite books ever since I was a kid.
'When The Wind Blows' is the tale of Jim and Hilda, your average elderly, English couple who survived world war 2. Their days are filled by cups of tea trips to the library and reminiscing of the 'good old days', basically living out old age. That is until nuclear war spoils things.
Here's a beautifully animated version on Google video of the last days of Jim and Hilda, complete with music from David Bowie, Roger Waters, Genisis and Squeeze.
