Without the web most of what we use in our everyday lives will be ruined. Even though the web has some negative usages, i wouldn't have known all of the info that i know as of now if it wasn't for the internet.

The internet was given to us for many reasons but I posit one of those reasons is to further disconnect people, and just like 1984 so the government can talk directly to you through the portal everyone will be given to access the internet.

When the government is sending you an email addressing you directly saying that you have been reported for being anti social because you keep your curtains closed all-day and you have been fined or have to report for re-education. How many of these imaginary hundreds of friends you have on twitter and facebook are going to stand up for you. None.

I have people adding me as friends I couldn't fuking stand and had no time for, what is wrong with these people.

I have 23 friends on facebook and that is 21 too many.

Just because you've had a bad experience with technology doesn't mean it's bad for everyone else. Facebook allows me to interact with family members in a way that would never had happened if we were still writing letters to each other.

I'm not 1 to suffer fools lightly. This almost takes the cake. The American President has his finger on the button now. He can turn the web off in a second (at least throughout the USA). Now my point of this reply is: Why in gods name would you want to prevent the flow of truth to the untrained public. Surely knowledge and wisdom are quite high on the 'need to do/things to do' basis. If, as we understand, money is just an electronic illusion, then why would you worry about white collar espionage at all. There is nothing 'they' can do to stop the awakening process so just 'ride the wave' to enlightenment. It seems pointless to stop the web. Also, what in gods name possessed you to even think of putting the www in the hands of the military? What for? Is the person in charge of this going to be vetted? Is he/she going to have windows or linux? I mean, who cares really.....That would be the most outrages thing in the history of mankind. Americia have been classed bankrupt since the 1930s, the federal reserve was setup by the worlds top bankers back then to bail-out the Americian Goverment after the Great Depression in return for the Federal reserve to controll all of Americias finance even up to today.

That's what they all say, but do you know what it's like to have a conversation with someone who's spent too much time on Facebook? The things you say just don't register with them. You could be telling them that your house just burned down, or that you drove your car over a cliff, and naturally, it takes some time for such news to sink in and for them to realize the full spectrum of what you've said, but a Facebooked mind doesn't function normally. Actually, the Fed was set up in 1913. The Great Depression started in 1929 BECAUSE of Federal Reserve manipulations. It was an orchestrated economic collapse.

This is an epic fail of a post. Worst idea ever! The internet is one of the last of the freedoms we have. Don't worry though Joe Lieberman is way ahead of you. If he has his way Obama will have his internet "killswitch"

I suspect that the only reason the internet was ever released to the general public is because the elite underestimated the fact that many people cannot be brainwashed. They didn't seem to realize that revolutionary movements could in fact be instigated using the internet. When they released it I think they were (falsely) sufficiently satisfied that the vast majority of people on the planet were dumbed down, unable to think for themselves, and therefore a safe bet (to publicize the internet).

The truth is, the internet is their greatest asset and their greatest liability. It most likely poses a huge dillemma for them, one they probably hadn't anticipated back in the mid-90s. The "battle of Seattle" was only able to come together due to the existence of a public internet.

If they shut it down, it'll be like taking away heroin from an addict. Many of us are, myself included, are quite addicted to the internet, for better and for worse. The internet is the playground and both teams are using it to their fullest advantage and right now it's too soon to tell who is ahead, but I suspect the people are which is why they're now considering to shut it down. But if they do that, there's no telling how the public will respond and the elite know it. This is a conundrum for them. They can only infiltrate and provocateur so much when those tactics become obsolete due to human intelligence and evolution.

Actually, the internet was originally military/gvt use only since it was developed by DARPA.
I have a compromise to this post. What should be done is eBay should be shut down and PayPal. that would take care of 99% of crime online and get rid of the largest criminal enterprise in the world.
