Do it all the time but i find you'll learn all about yourself if you ask yourself questions in a notebook and then write whatever comes out on paper. well that should be obvious but its different then talking in your head

Only in my mind. :D Think about it; we talk to ourselves when we think. That's a bit strange isn't it? :)

Maybe that's where the saying "To think out loud" originated. When you talk to yourself.

Exactly. "Talking to oneself" is to simply express thoughts verbally via sound. In that sense, "talking to ourselves" is inevitable so long as spoken languages exist.

There's nothing wrong with talking to yourself, it's when you start answering back

One interesting practice is to observe oneself thinking. That's kind of schitzo, but it is also what is often a spiritual practice. :D

We have been taught to live very much in the thinking mind. We need to move more into full awareness, where thinking is just one part of us. The ability to think is of course a highly developed skill, but we should not be stuck in only the chattering 'monkey mind' as Buddhists call it. And David Icke has talked a lot about the limitations of the thinking mind.

Ah indeed my sentiments as well. I often envision the day we no longer rely nor have use for languages and thoughts. Beings free of said limitations and fueled purely by unrestrained fulfilled feelings expressed by the soul.
"Don't think. FEEL! It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory."
"Empty your mind. Become formless and shapeless like water."

I see it as both and. We will still need language, speech and thought, yet we must develop those other skills as well. It's like food. Even if we were light beings it would be pretty boring if we could not eat. :)
