just finished talking to my coworker, hes big into hunting and target practice im gonna be taking a gun safety course, then ill get my license then ill be able to purchase a gun

he mentioned that all handguns are on restricted list (here in canada) meaning, you cant carry them around, and theyll put it on a registry

thinking of getting a shotgun and a .45,

ill also get one of those bow and arrows, with the pulleys on it, i used to have a bow and arrow when i was small, but dont have it anymore

only thing im worried about is, if they do register the gun, which they prob will, i dont want govt thugs comin along and confiscating my guns kind of like the situation ppl around new orleans faced after the big hurricane

anyone else here have guns, or is thinking of getting one, i think every1 should have at least 1 in their household

why do u hate guns?

is guns or weapons in general?

wouldnt you want to train and be able to defend yourself PHYSICALLY?

lions and tigers have sharp teeth and claws

elephants have large size and tusks

zebras have speed

birds have wings

humans have their mind, and until you can telekinetically create a forcefield around your body from an attacker,

guns and other weapons will have to do

I own a recurve 150pound crossbow. I would only ever use it for target shooting and hunting if my life depended on it.
People get some sort of power trip with guns and tend to use them to control others. I would never point a weapon at someone in an act of aggression.

I have a few shotguns mainly 12's - a 16 bore and a 410. I've also got a couple of Wildfowling pieces too.

I don't really use my airguns much anymore, apart from when I'm Ratting around the barns.

In the UK you have to be prepared to let the Police into your home to inspect your gun cabinets. Which reminds me.. I must register the airguns over 12ftlb as they're now considered firearms.

Its mad isnt it that you have to a licence for an air rifle over 12 ft pounds, but you dont need a licence to own a crossbow with 150+ pounds.

Crossbow is far more powerfull and accurate.

does the crossbow ever jam or anything like that? like the moving parts

also does it take longer to reload another bolt rather than the bow and arrow deal

crossbows use different arrows than bows right?

I want a 150lb compound crossbow. I love guns, crossbows, bows, catapults, knives, spears, swords and I want to own them all.

Yeah crossbows use bolts, I use 18 inch ones. Yes it takes a bit longer to load then a bow and you need to be strong to load one (I cant load mine without a pair of leather gloves on because the string hurts your fingers). A crossbows a silent weapon anyway so loading time isnt really an issue.
And no, only thing that can go wrong is the string fraying and eventually snapping, so I keep a stock of spares stashed. (you but bees wax on the string to make it last longer.

No, no laws against owning crossbows here. Just dont shoot someone even if they are breaking into your house, because criminals seem to have more rights then us here, lol.

yea thats interesting you mention that

cause when i was talking with my coworker, he was tellin me about when im going to go get my license, theyll interview me

and he said that i should not mention the reason i want to own the gun is for protecting my family or anything like that, but rather to just say i will go hunting and for target practice

he said if i did mention its for self defence, they wouldnt give it to me

he also said that the laws are better for protecting the intruder than the owner of the house

Yeah I know. It's all those idiots down in Whitehall trying to justify their existence by continually manifesting new legislation to tie people up in knots. The local plod haven't got a clue what's going down with the new Laws & have stated at public meetings with the country folk round these parts that they'll need help from us to enforce the new rules! They say there's nothing tangible coming out of Whitehall, lol @ that.

i have no problems with any kind of guns...

it's in the USA constitution for a reason...the right to bear arms...government is tyranny!

of course all these shootings and stuff are created to get americans behind the idea of no guns...simple as that!

the founding fathers in the USA had a reason for that amendment in the constitution.

i was discussing the deagle

it has a powerful shell, but itll only hold 7 shots (i love css :D ) and it has a big recoil

so if u have multiple targets ahead of you, if you take a shot, it takes long before you can get your second one off

the deagle is not a very practicle gun

any1 here own firearms??

I don't own one.
But I must admit, I'm pretty skilled with a rifle.

I shot well enough to recieve a Sharpshooter ranked badge in boot camp.
The USMC teaches firing very well.

The M16 is my baby of all armed weapons.

OMG the power in your hands when you know how to shoot well.
*creams myself a little*
Being able to shoot a 5in circle in the center of a 6ft x 6ft target from 500 yards away ! easily

I'm all for owning a weapon for defense these days.
To be ready for God knows what in the future.

And for survival in the wilderness also..

it's not entirely fair.
but Firearms exist, and I see no reason not to be able to own one if you so choose.
And if you have the mental capacity to know what your dealing with, and not take a gun lightly.
than you'll work out the reasoning for yourself.
not for everyone.

Yes, I do own firearms. I have two rifles but my 'baby' is a .300 Winchester Magnum.
It's basically an all-round hunting rifle, capable of stopping anything that walks in North America. I've used it on everything from antelope to moose and elk. Nice stopping power and even if you 'wing' something, it's not getting up.

Never say anything is for self-defence nowadays, and yes, I'm in Canada and know the atrocity that is the national firearms registry and can even give examples of the true facist state that is soon to come over them (guns). Ducks Unlimited is in Canada too, by the way, and they provide wonderful parcels of land to hunt on too.

Hand guns in Canada, require daily permission if you're going to take it to the range and practice and the government will actually have you call them to get the permission and it's only for to and from the range- not one single deviation... for this reason I don't own one, although I'd really like to own a Walther 9mm....that's one fine piece of shooting iron. :D

I used to carry a revolver when I lived in South Africa. My mother insisted! I guess because I was always traveling around in my car, often alone and at night, so she thought it would be best for me. I never drew it once (thank god).

I don't own any weapons now, unless you call my kitchen knife a weapon:D

damn i didnt know that stuff about having to call the govt each time you want to move the handgun

it just makes me so mad, theyve castrated the general public so much, and youll find so many yuppies who will think guns should be banned

even the mayor of toronto, david miller, showed his true fascist colours, when there was some shootings and his response was that ALL private guns owned should be kept in a central holding place, ie. the feds will hold your guns for you,

so utterly ridiculous, but the fact this was his response, showed how they will try and bend this instances to their advantage

If you get yourself a decent rifle and train up on it, you won't have any need for anything else. Shotguns and bows are innaccurate and cumbersome.

Listen to herebynightfall. USMC are in the top few of the world's best marksmen. After the Gurkha Rifles, of course

i think bow and arrow is underestimated, its good to have a backup skill, i used to have one when i was young, so i already am familiar with it

but shotguns serve different purpose than rifles, shotty is good for close range and fast shootin

Good luck with the bow in that case then.

Seriously though, shotguns are slow compared with rifles, and close range is not where you wanna be in a fight/survival situation.

Have you considered learning hand-to-hand as a backup? Bas Rutten's books and videos are pretty good reference materials.

Yeah, Miller is a puppet. I live in Toronto.
I used to be a peace officer and know a lot of policemen, and let me tell you, THEY don't like the gun registry. Kinda hard to force your law men to enforce draconian crap like that when most of them are hunters and competitive shooters.

yea ive had mostly good experiences with cops in the city, but i live in rexdale, a 'ghetto' part, and i think theyre trying to weed out good ones, and hire goons, big 6"4" foot muscle bound morons, theyre too used to questioning ppl without any cause, and searching guys hanging out at the park, (this has happened to me, and when you ask why, they just laugh) the area has alot of black population. and black ppl are kinda used to being treated with a double standard, so they dont protest much, its more of a us vs them mentality, no snitching etc

its like what a.jones talks about, how the american police are hiring ex cons and illegals, phasing the honest police out
