Sorry I posted this in the wrong place yesterday or it was such a crap thread that nobody gave it the time of day. If I were me, which I'm obviously not, then I'd probably not reply either.

In all seriousness all help is greatly appreciated.

Where is the safest place on earth to be if a meteor / asteroid or other minor planetary body strkes the earth?

Obviously you've got to take into account where it would strike so lets say it splits in three. 1/3rd hits central Asia, 2nd third hits central Pacific and last 3rd hits central Atlantic.

What land masses would it effect and why? How much would these consequences have on human life and can anyone answer exactly the same question but direct the answer towards vulcanology concerning what would happen at the next eruption of either Taupo or Yellowstone National parks being super/ mega volcanoes.

Need answers quick, so don't be long.

pigpot, or maybe I'm not

Native American prophecy speaks of how they were eventually moving to the "hilly country". From what I can gather, this means the "great canadian shield" :http://www.nfb.ca/collection/films/fiche/?id=17021&v=h&lg=en as it is very old and hasn't had any movement lately (for at least 2 Billion years. That's as long as it takes the Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy to go almost completely around the Milky Way.

Hope this helps.

Also, it's rock, not sand, gravel, or dirt. Go there and build your house.

You didn't put jew in your title:p

Take some time out,
it would only take about half a minute and no effort to click and look at the link,
and you'll get a general idea where not to be;)

Cheers majicdragon,

I certainly think it is possible for man to totally obliterate the planet earth in making it uninhabitable, but not probable.

Prophecy from the same good people I mentioned earlier, states either one of two things will occur: Either we will rise, and overcome the power structure, including cutting off the heads of the leaders now in power here in North America, on full view for the whole world to see our stance... Or our world will be destroyed by these powers and america, for one, will burn from coast to coast. And the world will have to start over where ours started: with a girl and a boy

However, other tribes have also penciled in that the worst possible scenario will be total annihilation of mother-earth, and the starting over from nothing... to the ameba... and so forth.

We won't be able to obliterate our planet, but we sure have the ability to annihilate ourselves, and every other living thing on this planet.

lol pigpot

but serioulsy there is one place ive heard of where one could be COMPLETELY safe from any deluge, environmental disaster, nuclear etc etc

supposedly in the peruvian mountains, there are catacombs of tunnels carved into the mountains, they say our ancestors, or maybe mayan ancestors, they took refuge there, during the last big catastrophes on earth

but the local authorities have sealed of the entrances, fear of children getting 'lost'

ya rite

An internet stand up maybe, it would be a lot easier:D

Pigot, just seek high ground inland, and I'm not necessarily talking about mountains etc. I have heard that most of holland or just amsterdam (or something) is only there because there are levies holding the sea back, once it goes the whole place would be flooded. Mexico is floating on water, that doesn't sound too good either. Any flat plains like melbourne, that's not too high above see level where flooding could occur... These are just examples, you should combine land above sea levels and where volcanoes and earthquakes occur, as they also cause tsunamies.
