The interesting story published under the title "The Idyll of the White Lotus "has already attracted considerable attention. It is instructive in more ways than one. It truly depicts the Egyptian faith and the Egyptian priesthood,when their religion had already begun to lose its purity and degenerate into a system of Tantric worship contaminated and defiled by black magic, unscrupulously used for selfish and immoral purposes. It is probably also a true story. Sensa is represented to be the last great hierophant of Egypt. Just as a tree leaves its seed to develop into a similar tree, even if it should perish completely, so does every great religion seem to leave its life and energy in one or more great adepts destined to preserve its wisdom and revive its growth at some future time when the cycle of evolution tends in the course of its revolution, to bring about the desire result. The grand old religion of Khem is destined to reappear on this planet in a higher and nobler form when the appointed time arrives, and there is nothing unreasonable in the supposition that the Sensa of our story is probably now a very high adept, who is waiting to carry out the commands of the Lady of the White Lotus. Apart from these speculations, however, the story in question has a very noble lesson to teach. In its allegorical aspect it describes the trials and the difficulties of a neophyte. It is not easy, however, for the ordinary reader to remove the veil of allegory and clearly understand its teachings. It is to help such readers that I proceed to give the following explanation of the characters that appear in the story in question and the events therein related.
(1) Sensa, the hero of the story, is intended to represent the human soul. It is the Kutashtha Chaitanyam, or the germ of Prajna, in which the individuality of the human being is preserved. It corresponds with the higher and permanent element in the fifth principle of man. It is the ego or the self of embodied existence.
(2) Seboua, the gardener, is intuition. "They cannot make a phantom of me", declares Seboua; and in saying so this unsophisticated but honest rustic truly reveals his own mystery.
(3) Agdmahd, Kamen-Baka and the nine other high priests of the temple, who are the devoted servants of the dark goddess whom they worship, represent respectively the following entities:
(1) Kama..........................Desire
(2) Krodha.......................Anger
(3) Lobha.........................Cupidity
(4) Moha..........................Ignorance
(5) Mada..........................Arrogance
(6) Matsarya...................Jealousy
(7, 8, 9, 10 and 11)........The five senses and their pleasures
(4) The female characters that figure in the story are the following:
(1) The dark and mysterious goddess worshipped by the priests;
(2) The young girl who played with Sensa;
(3) The grown up girl met by him in the City;
(4) The Lady of the White Lotus.
It must be noticed here that the 2nd and the 3rd are identical. Speaking of the fair woman of the City, whom he met apparently for the first time,Sensa says, that as he gazed into her tender eyes, it seemed to him that he knew her well and that her charms were familiar to him. It is clear from this statement that his lady is no other than the young girl who ran about the temple with him.
Prakrti, say the Hindu philosophers,has three qualities, Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. The last of these qualities is connected with the grosser pleasures and passions experienced in Sthulasarira. Rajaguna is the cause of the restless activity of the mind, while Sattvaguna is intimately associated with the spiritual intelligence of man, and with his higher and nobler aspirations. Maya, then, makes its appearance in this story in three distinct forms. It is Vidya, a spiritual intelligence, which is represented by the Lady of the White Lotus. It is the Kwan-yin and the Prajna of the Buddhist writers. She represents the light or the aura of the Logos,which is wisdom, and she is the source of the current of conscious life or Chaitanyam. The young girl (mind of man) above referred to is the Mind of man, and its is by her that Sensa is led gradually into the presence of the dark goddess, set up in the Holy of the holies for adoration by the priesthood whom we have above described.
The dark goddess herself is Avidya. It is the dark side of human Nature. It derives its life and energy from the passions and desires of the human soul. The ray of life and wisdom, which originally emanated from the Logos and which has acquired a distinct individuality of its own when the process of differentiation has set in, is capable of being transformed more or less entirely into this veritable Kali, if the light of the Logos is altogether excluded by the bad Karma of the human being, if the voice of intuition is unheard and unnoticed, and if the man lives simply for the purpose of gratifying his own passions and desires.
If these remarks are kept in mind, the meaning of the story will become clear. It is not my object now to write an exhaustive commentary. I shall only notice some of the important incidents and their significance.
Look upon Sensa a human being, who, after running his course through several incarnations, and after having passed through a considerable amount of spiritual training, is born again in this world with his spiritual powers of perception greatly developed, and prepared to become a neophyte at a very early stage in his career. As soon as he enters into the physical body, he is placed under the charge of the five Senses and the six Emotions above enumerated, who have it as their place of residence. The human soul is first placed under the guidance of his own intuition, the simple and honest gardener of the temple, for whom the High Priests seem to have no respect or affection, and, when it has not yet lost its original purity, gets a glimpse of its spiritual intelligence, the Lady of the White Lotus. The priests, however, are determined that no opportunity should be given for the intuition to work, and they therefore remove the child from its guardianship and introduce him to their own dark goddess, the goddess of human passions. The very sight of this deity is found repulsive to the human soul at first. The proposed transfer of human consciousness and human attachment from the spiritual plane to the physical plane is too abrupt and premature to succeed. The priests failed in their first attempt and began to devise their plans for a second effort in the same direction.
Before proceeding further I must draw the reader's attention the real meaning of the Lotus tank in the garden. Sahasrara Chakram in the brain is often spoken of as a Lotus Tank in the Hindu mystical books The "Sweet sounding water" of this tank is described as amrtam or nectar. See page 349 of the second volume of Isis Unveiled for further hints as regards the meaning of this magic water. Padma, the White Lotus, is said to have a thousand petals, as has the mysterious Sahasraram of the Yogis. It is an unopened bud in the ordinary mortal, and just as a lotus opens its petals, and expands in all its bloom and beauty when the sun rises above the horizon and sheds his rays on the flower, so does the Sahasraram of the neophyte open and expand when the Logos begins to pour its light into its centre. When fully expanded it becomes the glorious seat of the Lady of the Lotus, the 6th principle of man; and sitting on this flower the great goddess pours out the waters of life and grace for the gratification and the regeneration of the human soul.
Hatha Yogis say that the human soul in Samadhi ascends to this thousand-petalled flower through Susumna (the dath of the Kabbalists) and obtains a glimpse of the splendour of the spiritual sun.
In this part of Sensa's life an event is related which deserves attention. An elemental appearing in the guise of a neophyte of the temple tries to take him out from his physical body. This is a danger to which a man is liable before he acquires sufficient proficiency as an adept to guard himself against all such dangers, especially when his internal perception is developed to a certain extent. Sensa's guardian angel protects him form the danger owing to his innocence and purity.
When the mental activity of the child commences and absorbs its attention,it recedes farther and farther from the Light of the Logos. Its intuition will not be in a position to work unshackled. Its suggestions come to it mixed up with other states of consciousness which are the result of sensation and intellection. Unable to see Sensa and speak to him personally, Seboua sends him his beloved lotus flower surreptitiously through one of the neophytes of the temple.
Mental activity commences first by way of sensation. Emotions make their appearance subsequently. The opening mind of the child is aptly compared to a little girl playing with Sensa. When once the mind begins to exercise its functions the pleasures of sensation soon pave the way for the strong and fierce emotions of the human soul. Sensa has descended one step from the spiritual plane when he loses sight of the sublime lotus flower and its glorious goddess and begins to be amused by the frolicsome little girl."You are to live among Earth-fed flowers", says this little girl to him, disclosing the change that has already taken place, At first it is the simple beauty of nature that engrosses the attention of Sensa. But his mind soon leads him to the dark goddess of the shrine. Avidya has its real seat in mind, and it is impossible to resist its influence so long as the mind of man is not restrained in its action. When once the soul gets under the influence of this dark goddess, the high priests of the temple begin to utilize its powers for their own benefit and gratification. The goddess requires twelve priests in all, including Sensa,to help her cause. Unless the six emotions and the five sensations above enumerated are banded together she cannot exercise her sway completely. They support and strengthen each other as everyman's experience clearly demonstrates. Isolated, they are weak and can easily be subdued, but when associated together their combined power is strong enough to keep the soul under control. The fall of Sensa now becomes complete, but not before he receives a well merited rebuke from the gardener, and a word of warning from the Lady of the Lotus.
Addressing Sensa, Seboua is made to utter the following words: "You came first to work; you were to be the drudge for me; now all is changed You are to play, not work, and I am to treat you like a little prince. Well ! Have they spoiled thee yet, I wonder, child?" These words are significant; and their meaning will become plain by the light of the foregoing remarks. It must be noted that the last time he went into the Garden, Sensa was taken, not to the Lotus Tank, but to another tank receiving its waters from the former.
Owing to the change that has come over him, Sensa is unable to see the Light of the Logos by direct perception, but is under the necessity of recognizing the same by the operation of his fifth principle. It is in the astral fluid that he floats and not in the magic water of the Lotus Tank. He sees, nevertheless, the Lady of the Lotus who pathetically says, "Soon thou wilt leave me; and how can I aid thee if thou forgettest me utterly?"
After this occurrence Sensa becomes completely a man of the world, living for the pleasures of the physical life. His developed mind becomes his companion and the priests of the temple profit by the change. Before proceeding further I must draw the reader's attention to the possibility of eliciting from a child any desired information by invoking certain elementals and other powers, by means of magic rites and ceremonies. After the soul gets completely under the influence of Avidya, it may either succumb altogether to the said influence, and get absorbed, as it were, in the Tamoguna of Prakrti , or dispel its own ignorance by the light of spiritual wisdom and shake off this baneful influence A critical moment arrives in the history of Sensa when his very existence is merged up for the time being with the dark goddess of human passion on the day of the boat festival. Such an absorption, however short, is the first step towards final extinction. He must either be saved at this critical juncture or perish. The Lady of the White Lotus, his guardian angel, makes a final attempt to save him, and succeeds. In the very Holy of the holies, she unveils the dark goddess; and Sensa, perceiving his folly prays for deliverance from the accursed yoke of the hated priesthood. His prayer is granted, and relying upon the support of the bright goddess, he revolts against the authority of the priests, and directs the attention of the people to the iniquities of the temple authorities.
It is necessary to say a few words in this connection as regards the real nature of soul-death and the ultimate fate of a black magician, to impress the teachings of this book on the mind of the reader. The soul, as we have above explained, is an isolated drop in the ocean of cosmic life. This current of cosmic life is but the light and the aura of the Logos. Besides the Logos, there are innumerable other existences, both spiritual and astral, partaking of this life and living in it. These beings have special affinities with particular emotions of the human soul and particular characteristics of the human mind. They have of course a definite individual existence of their own which lasts up to the end of the Manvantara. There are three ways in which a soul may cease to retain its special individuality. Separated from its Logos, which is, as it were, its source, it may not acquire a strong and abiding individuality of its own, and may in course of time be reabsorbed into the current of Universal Life. This is real soul-death. It may also place itself en rapport with a spiritual or elemental existence by evoking it, and concentrating its attention and regard on it for purposes of black magic and Tantric worship. In such a case it transfers its individuality to such existence and is sucked up into it, as it were. In such a case the black magician lives in such a being, and as such a being he continues 'til the end of the Manvantara.
The fate of Banasena illustrates the point. After his death he is said to live as Mahakala, one of the most powerful spirits of Pramadagana. In some respects this amounts to acquiring immortality in evil. But unlike the immortality of the Logos it does not go beyond Manvantaric limits. Read the 8th chapter of the Bhagavad-Gita in this connection , and my meaning will become clear by the light of Krishna's teaching. The occurrence in the boat of Isis, depicted in the book under consideration,gives some idea of the nature of this absorption and the subsequent preservation of the magician's individuality.
When the centre of absorption is the Logos and not any other power or elemental, the man acquires Mukti or Nirvana and becomes one with the eternal Logos without any necessity of rebirth.
The last part of the book describes the final struggle of the soul with its inveterate foes, its initiation and ultimate deliverance from the tyranny of Prakrti.
The assurance and the advice given by the Lady of the White Lotus to Sensa in the Holy of holies marks the great turning point in the history of his career. He has perceived the light of the Divine Wisdom and has brought himself within the pale of its influence. This light of the Logos, which is represented in the story as the fair goddess of the sacred flower of Egypt, is the bond of union and brotherhood which maintains the chain of spiritual intercourse and sympathy running through the long succession of the great hierophants of Egypt, and extending to all the great adepts of this world who derive their influx of spiritual life from the same source. It is the Holy Ghost that keeps up the apostolic succession or Guruparampara as the Hindus call it. It is this spiritual light which is transmitted from Guru to disciple when the time of real initiation comes. The so-called "Transfer of Life" is no other than the transmission of this light. And further, the Holy Ghost which is, as it were, the veil or the body of the Logos and hence its flesh and blood, is the basis of the holy communion. Every fraternity of adepts has this bond of union; and time and space cannot tear it asunder. Even when there is an apparent break in the succession on the physical plane, a neophyte following the sacred law and aspiring towards a higher life, will not be in want of guidance and advice when the proper time arrives, though the last Guru may have died several thousands of years before he was born. Every Buddha meets at his last initiation all the great adepts who reached Buddhaship during the preceding ages: and similarly every class of adepts has its own bond of spiritual communion which knits them together into a properly organised fraternity. The only possible and effectual way of entering into any such brotherhood,or partaking of the holy communion, is by bringing oneself within the influence of the spiritual light which radiates form one's own Logos. I may further point out here, without venturing to enter into details, that such communion is only possible between persons whose souls derive their life and sustenance from the same divine ray, and that, as seven distinct rays radiate from the "Central Spiritual Sun" all adepts and Dhyan Chohans are divisible into seven classes, each of which is guided, controlled and overshadowed by one of seven forms or manifestations of the divine wisdom.
In this connection it is necessary to draw the reader's attention to another general law which regulates the circulation of spiritual life and energy through the several adepts who belong to the same Fraternity. Each adept may be conceived as a centre wherein this spiritual force is generated and stored up, and through which it is utilized and distributed. This mysterious energy is a kind of spiritual electrical force , and its transmission from one centre to another presents some of the phenomena noticed in connection with electrical induction. Consequently there is a tendency towards the equalization of the amounts of energy stored up in the various centres. The quantity of the neutral fluid existing in any particular centre depends upon the man's Karma and the holiness and purity of his life. When evoked into activity by being brought into communication with his Guru or Initiator it becomes dynamic, and has a tendency to transfer itself to weaker centres. It is sometimes stated that, at the time of the final initiation, either the hierophant or the "newly born", the worthier of the two must die (see page 38, Theosophist, November, 1882).
Whatever may be the real nature of this mysterious death, it is due to the operation of this law. It will be further seen that a new Initiate, if he is weak in spiritual energy, is strengthened by partaking of the holy communion; and for obtaining this advantage he has to remain on earth and utilise his power for the good of mankind until the time of final liberation arrives. This is an arrangement which harmonises with the Law of Karma. The neophyte's original weakness is due to his Karmic defects. These defects necessitate a longer period of physical existence. And this period he will have to spend in the cause of human progress in return for the benefit above indicated. And, moreover, the accumulated good Karma of the period has the effect of strengthening his soul, and when he finally takes his place in the Sacred Brotherhood, he brings as much spiritual capital with him as any of the others for carrying on the work of the said fraternity.
If these few remarks are born in mind, the incidents related in the last five chapters will soon disclose their real significance. When Sensa gains his power of spiritual perception through the grace of his guardian angel, and begins to exercise it knowingly and voluntarily, he has no occasion to rely on the flickering light of intuition. "You must now stand alone", says the gardener, and places him in possession of his beloved flower , the full meaning of which Sensa begins to understand. Having thus gained the seat of spiritual clairvoyance. Sensa perceives the hierophants who preceded him and into whose Fraternity he has entered. The Guru is always ready when the disciple is ready. The initiation preceding the final struggle for liberty from the bondage of matter is pretty plainly described. The highest Chohan reveals to him the secrets of occult science,and another adept of the Brotherhood points out to him the basis and nature of his own personality. His immediate predecessor then comes to his assistance and reveals to him the mystery of his own Logos. "The veil of Isis" is removed, behind which the White Lotus, his real Saviour, lay concealed. The Light of the Logos enters his soul and he is made to pass through the "baptism by Divine Fire". He hears the final directions given by his Queen and recognises the duty cast upon his shoulders.
His predecessor, whose soul is so "white and spotless", is commanded to give him a portion of his spiritual strength and energy. The three great truths which underlie every religion ,however, disfigured and distorted, through ignorance ,superstition and prejudice, are then taught to him for the purpose of being proclaimed to the world at large. It is needless for me to explain these truths her as their enunciation in the book is sufficiently plain. Thus fortified and instructed Sensa prepares for the final struggle. During these preparatory stages the passions of the physical man are, as it were, dormant, and Sensa is left alone for the time being. But they are not entirely subdued. The decisive battle is yet to be fought and won. Sensa beings to enter on the higher spiritual life as a preacher and spiritual guide of men, directed by the light of wisdom which has entered his soul. But he cannot pursue this course for any length of time before he has conquered his foes. The moment for the final struggle of the last initiation soon arrives. The nature of this Intiation is very little understood. It is sometimes represented in vague terms as a terrible ordeal through which an Initiate has to pass before he becomes a real Adept. It is further characterized as "the baptism by blood". These general statements do not in the least indicate the precise nature of the result to be achieved by the neophyte or the difficulties he has to encounter
It is necessary to enquire into the nature of the psychic change or transformation which is intended to be effected by this Initiation before its mystery is understood. According to the ordinary Vedantic classification there are four states of conscious existence, namely Vishwa,Taijasa, Prajna, and Turiya. In modern language these may be described as the objective,the clairvoyant, the ecstatic, and the ultra-ecstatic states of consciousness. The seats or upadhis related to these conditions are the physical body, the astral body, the Karana Sarira or the Monad and the Logos. The soul is the Monad. It is, as it were, the neutral point of consciousness. It is the germ of prajna. When completely isolated no consciousness is experienced by it. Its psychic condition is hence compared by Hindu writers to Sushupti - a condition of dreamless sleep But it is under the influence of the physical body and the astral body on the one side, and the 6th and 7th principles on the other. When the attraction of the former prevails, the Jiva becomes Buddha and is subject to all the passions of embodied existence. The power of these passions grows weaker and weaker as the neutral point we have indicated is approached. But as long as the neutral barrier is not crossed their attraction is felt. But when once this is effected, the soul is, as it were, placed under the control and attraction of the other pole - the Logos; and the man becomes liberated from the bondage of matter. In short he comes an Adept. The struggle for supremacy between these two forces of attraction takes place on this neutral barrier. But during the struggle the person in whose interest the battle is fought is in a quiescent, unconscious condition,almost helpless to assist his friends or strike hard at his enemies, though the result of the fight is a matter of life and death to him. This is the condition in which Sensa finds himself in passing through the last ordeal, and the description of the said condition in the book under examination becomes clear by the light of the foregoing explanations. It can be easily seen that the result of the fight will mainly depend upon the latent energy of the soul, its previous training and its past Karma. But our hero passes successfully through the ordeal; his enemies are completely overthrown. But Sensa dies in the struggle.
Strangely enough when the enemy is defeated, the personality of Sensa is destroyed on the field of battle. This is the final sacrifice which he makes, and his mother Prakrti - the mother of his personality - laments his loss, but rejoices at the prospect of the resurrection of this soul. The resurrection soon takes place; his soul rises from the grave as it were, under the vivifying influence of his spiritual intelligence, to shed its blessings on mankind and work for the spiritual development of his fellow beings. Here ends the so-called tragedy of the soul. What follows is merely intended to bring the story in its quasi-historical aspect to a proper conclusion.

Treasure
Walking among sheep that swarm around in the thousands.
Aimlessly moving from point A to point B, and back again.
Leading on with surrogate activities until they reach point DEATH.
So many. So different yet, so disgustingly bland.
Never truly appreciating that which was created for them.
Never truly appreciating anything that was created.
This is not to say they have no love.
For it is love that is their driving force.
The love of greed, material, sex, worship, and power.
The love of self, is what makes them continue onward.
With a desperate fleeting hope in their eyes, they murder each other off to gain power.
Like a contest to climb to the top of a pyramid.
I laugh.
I mock them.
For it is proven;
the most precious of treasures,
have always been found under the pyramid.

After this poem was written, I had an argument with a guy that lasted until 3 days later about the meaning of this poem. I can understand that he feels that this "philosophical prose" doesn't hold a "sound philosophy", however in the end he realized what I was referring to.

Canes Venatici is the home of spiral galaxy known as M106. It is located about 25 million light-years from Earth and is receding from us at the rate of 537 km/sec. This galaxy is rotated to our line of sight, which gives is an elongated appearance. In color photographs, the spiral arms end in bright blue knots. These are believed to be young star clusters composed of giant, hot blue stars. M106 can be spotted in binoculars but requires a small telescope to reveal any details.

Krishnamurti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiddu_Krishnamurti) had commented to friends that he did not wish to invite death, but was not sure how long his body would last (he had already lost considerable weight), and once he could no longer talk, he would have "no further purpose". In his final talk, on January 4, 1986, in Madras, he again invited the audience to examine with him the nature of inquiry, the effect of technology, the nature of life and meditation, and the nature of creation:
"...So, we are enquiring into what makes a bird. What is creation behind all this? Are you waiting for me to describe it, go into it? You want me to go into it? Why (From the audience: To understand what creation is[)]. Why do you ask that? Because I asked? No description can ever describe the origin. The origin is nameless; the origin is absolutely quiet, it's not whirring about making noise. Creation is something that is most holy, that's the most sacred thing in life, and if you have made a mess of your life, change it. Change it today, not tomorrow. If you are uncertain, find out why and be certain. If your thinking is not straight, think straight, logically. Unless all that is prepared, all that is settled, you can't enter into this world, into the world of creation."[69]
Krishnamurti was also concerned about his legacy, about being unwittingly turned into some personage whose teachings had been "handed down" to special individuals, rather than the world at large. He wanted nobody to pose as an "interpreter" of the teaching.[70] He warned his associates on several occasions that they were not to present themselves as spokesmen on his behalf, or as his successors after his death.[71]
A few days before his death, in a final statement, he emphatically declared that "nobody" among his associates, or the general public, had understood what had happened to him (as the conduit of the teaching), nor had they understood the teaching itself. He added that the "immense energy" operating in his lifetime would be gone with his death, again implying the impossibility of successors. However, he offered hope by stating that people could approach that energy and gain a measure of understanding "...if they live the teachings".[72] In prior discussions he had compared himself with Thomas Edison, implying that he did the hard work, and now all was needed by others was a flick of the switch.[73] In another instance he talked of Columbus going through an arduous journey to discover the New World, whereas now, it could easily be reached by jet; the ultimate implication being that even if Krishnamurti was in some way "special", in order to arrive at his level of understanding, others didn't need to be.[74]
J. Krishnamurti died on February 17, 1986, at the age of 90, from pancreatic cancer. His remains were cremated and scattered by friends and former associates in the three countries where he had spent most of his life; India, England and United States of America.

Krishnamurti constantly emphasized the right place of thought in daily life. But he also pointed out the dangers of thought as knowledge and mental images when it operates in relationships. Some excerpts:
"How is the mind which functions on knowledge – how is the brain which is recording all the time – to end, to see the importance of recording and not let it move in any other direction? Very simply: you insult me, you hurt me, by word, gesture, by an actual act; that leaves a mark on the brain which is memory. That memory is knowledge, that knowledge is going to interfere in my meeting you next time – obviously. ... Knowledge is necessary to act in the sense of my going home from here to the place I live; I must have knowledge for this; I must have knowledge to speak English; I must have knowledge to write a letter and so on. Knowledge as function, mechanical function, is necessary. Now if I use that knowledge in my relationship with you, another human being, I am bringing about a barrier, a division between you and me, namely the observer. That is, knowledge, in relationship, in human relationship, is destructive. That is knowledge which is the tradition, the memory, the image, which the mind has built about you, that knowledge is separative and therefore creates conflict in our relationship." [75]
"The brain has been trained to record for in that recording there is safety, security, a sense of vitality; in that recording the mind creates the image about oneself. And that image will constantly get hurt. Is it possible to live without a single image about yourself, or about your husband, wife, children, or about the politicians, the priests, or about the ideal? It is possible, and if it is not found you will always be getting hurt, always living in a pattern in which there is no freedom. When you give complete attention there is no recording. It is only when there is inattention that you record. That is: you flatter me; I like it; the liking at that moment is inattention therefore recording takes place. But if when you flatter me I listen to it completely without any reaction, then there is no center which records." [76]
"The brain is the source of thought. The brain is matter and thought is matter. Can the brain – with all its reactions and its immediate responses to every challenge and demand – can the brain be very still? It is not a question of ending thought, but of whether the brain can be completely still? This stillness is not physical death. See what happens when the brain is completely still." [77]

Fear and pleasure were lifelong themes in his public talks. The following is an excerpt from his talk in San Diego in 1970.
“Fear is always in relation to something; it does not exist by itself. There is fear of what happened yesterday in relation to the possibility of its repetition tomorrow; there is always a fixed point from which relationship takes place. How does fear come into this? I had pain yesterday; there is the memory of it and I do not want it again tomorrow. Thinking about the pain of yesterday, thinking which involves the memory of yesterday’s pain, projects the fear of having pain again tomorrow. So it is thought that brings about fear. Thought breeds fear; thought also cultivates pleasure. To understand fear you must also understand pleasure – they are interrelated; without understanding one you cannot understand the other. This means that one cannot say ‘I must only have pleasure and no fear’; fear is the other side of the coin which is called pleasure.
Thinking with the images of yesterday’s pleasure, thought imagines that you may not have that pleasure tomorrow; so thought engenders fear. Thought tries to sustain pleasure and thereby nourishes fear.
Thought has separated itself as the analyzer and the thing to be analyzed; they are both parts of thought playing tricks upon itself. In doing all this it is refusing to examine the unconscious fears; it brings in time as a means of escaping fear and yet at the same time sustains fear.” [78]

Krishnamurti used the word meditation to mean something entirely different from the practice of any system or method to control the mind. At a public talk in Bombay in 1971, he spoke on meditation and its implications at length.
“A mind that is in meditation is concerned only with meditation, not with the meditator. The meditator is the observer, the censor, the thinker, the experiencer, and when there is the experiencer, the thinker, then he is concerned with reaching out, gaining, achieving, experiencing. And that thing which is timeless cannot be experienced. There is no experience at all. There is only that which is not nameable.” “You know, in all this there are various powers like clairvoyance, reading somebody’s thought – which is the most disgusting thing to do: it is like reading letters that are private. There are various powers. You know what I am talking about, don’t you? You call them siddhis, don’t you? Do you know that all these things are like candles in the sun? When there is no sun there is darkness, and then the candle and the light of the candle become very important. But when there is the sun, the light, the beauty, the clarity, then all these powers, these siddhis – developing various centres, chakras, kundalini, you know all that business – are like candlelight; they have no value at all. And when you have that light, you don’t want anything else.” [79]
"Meditation is one of the greatest arts in life-perhaps the greatest, and one cannot possibly learn it from anybody, that is the beauty of it. It has no technique and therefore no authority. When you learn about yourself, watch yourself, watch the way you walk, how you eat, what you say, the gossip, the hate, the jealousy-if you are aware of all that in yourself, without any choice, that is part of meditation."[80]
“Man, in order to escape his conflicts, has invented many forms of meditation. These have been based on desire, will, and the urge for achievement, and imply conflict and a struggle to arrive. This conscious, deliberate striving is always within the limits of a conditioned mind, and in this there is no freedom. All effort to meditate is the denial of meditation. Meditation is the ending of thought. It is only then that there is a different dimension which is beyond time.”[81]
“Meditation is the emptying of the mind of all thought, for thought and feeling dissipate energy. They are repetitive, producing mechanical activities which are a necessary part of existence. But they are only part, and thought and feeling cannot possibly enter into the immensity of life. Quite a different approach is necessary, not the path of habit, association and the known; there must be freedom from these. Meditation is the emptying of the mind of the known. It cannot be done by thought or by the hidden prompting of thought, nor by desire in the form of prayer, nor through the self-effacing hypnotism of words, images, hopes, and vanities. All these have to come to an end, easily, without effort and choice, in the flame of awareness.”[82]

Every person who is not totally enlightened and self-realised has an "ego". By "ego" I mean the illusory (in Buddhism - anatta) or false self, the narcissistic self absorption of attention in its own knot of littleness, that comes about through recoil from or non-realisation of the Supreme, God, the Absolute Reality, or whatever one wishes to call it.
This false ego or false self or "desire soul" (Sri Aurobindo's term) is full of lower affective poison and darkness (a Christian would say "sinfulness") at its own ugliness and imperfection. But because of the egoic self-reflection of the infinitely degraded light that makes up its consciousness, it cannot acknowledge this ugliness in itself, because to do so would shatter the narcissistic illusion of its own wonderfulness and specialness, and confront it with its true nature. The result would be either madness or a spiritual self-judgment by which the ego is forced to confront its own negativity (this is basically the afterlife "judgement" referred to in Near Death Experiences and in many traditional cultures, religions, and mythologies). Therefore, in order to maintain its own equilibrium, its own sanity in other words, as psychological defense mechanism, the ego has to constantly project its ugliness onto an appropriate scapegoat.
This is how they cope with their unacknowledged and repressed psychic contents, which can only be tolerated as hatred for another, for a pereceived enemy who has slighted them or their family or tribe or culture or ethnicity or nation or religion or ideology.
This happens everywhere, prejudice, bigotry, intolerance, xenophobia, fear and hatred of the "other" are universal. And just because someone claims to, or is thought by others to be, spiritual, or a guru, doesn't make them free of this either. Only one who has totally gone beyond the limitation of their finite self, and realised their identity with the Supreme, will no longer project their ego-ideal onto those they identify with, and their shadow onto all those they choose to scapegoat, whether out of prejudice picked up from parents or peers or social condition, or whether these are people who have slighted or insulted the object of ego-identification, or who even if they haven't are paranoidly misinterpret as wanting to or actually doing so.

According to Jung, the Cold War was the outer collective form of the lack of unity within the human psyche. And so what happened with the fall of the Soviet empire? A new enemy had to be created, a new war or rivalry or hatred. And guess what, muslim extremists rose to fill the bill! Thus each side hates the other, each side wants to destroy the other, each side is full of bigotry and intolerance and refusal to listen to the moderates and peace makers in its own camp, the leaders of each side playing cunningly on the fears and prejudices of the masses, manipulating them like puppets (see e.g. this comment on the Danish Mohammad cartoons), while themselves being manipulated by supra-physical adverse forces.
And after the "war on terror" or "clash of civilisations" is resolved, then a new enemy will have to ve created, and so on, as long as people are not able to resolve the duality within their own being, and go beyond the limitations of their own self-absorbed relative self.
Where there is some spiritual awakening, where the Divine Center comes to the fore, this effect is mitigated, because the Divine Self is always perfect and in accord with the Supreme. Therefore, a good sign that someone is lacking in spiritual development, that they are enslaved by lower impulses of the affective/astral reality, is that their shadow-projection is totally undiluted. It is not hard to tell such people, you just have to read their words, and see how they are always accusing their perceived or imagined enemy of everything that is actually within the darkest recesses of their own being. In the realm of cults and scets and gurus, the classic case of this is the antagonistic and even more so the slanderous devotee, who claim to follow a spiritual path or a spiritual guru, but act in a way that is against every spiritual teaching, evcen that of their own guru or tradition.

Projection of the Shadow is always accompanied by projection of the ego-ideal. This is because samsaric beings do not see reality as it is, they live in their a mental bubble or (if their intellect is well-developed but without a corresponding spiritual awakening) a mental fortress of their own making, and what they see is their own nature reflected back at them, but superimposed on those around them. All the ugliness in their nature, their shadow, is projected there in those they choose or by their samskaras (in Yoga psychology subconscious past-life tendencies, in Buddhism called vasanas) are compelled not to like, whilst all their real or imaginary ideal egoic traits are projected upon those who they like, whether it be their spouse or kids or family or friends or culture or nationality or religion or guru or culture hero or popular icon or favourite author or whoever.
In the realm of cults and scets and gurus, this explains why many devotees of false gurus are unable to acknowledge or even recognise any wrong-doing on the part of their guru, even if this has been reported independently many times. Because they have projected so much of their ego ideal on this person, all their hopes and dreams and wishes and fantasies, that to recognise their guru's imperfection would mean that everything they have gone through is all for nothing.
In cases of very spiritually weak individuals with huge inflated egos, how they cope instead is by projecting their own shadow side onto the person or people who dare to make such disgusting claims. Despite the excuses they give to others and to themsleves, the fact is that they don't even care about their guru as a person, their ego-projection is so complete that it is all about them; they rage how dare you insult my guru (which really means me)!!!!. All their ugliness comes out and they become antagonistic and slanderous devotees of the worst kind.

Fear and pleasure were lifelong themes in his public talks. The following is an excerpt from his talk in San Diego in 1970.
“Fear is always in relation to something; it does not exist by itself. There is fear of what happened yesterday in relation to the possibility of its repetition tomorrow; there is always a fixed point from which relationship takes place. How does fear come into this? I had pain yesterday; there is the memory of it and I do not want it again tomorrow. Thinking about the pain of yesterday, thinking which involves the memory of yesterday’s pain, projects the fear of having pain again tomorrow. So it is thought that brings about fear. Thought breeds fear; thought also cultivates pleasure. To understand fear you must also understand pleasure – they are interrelated; without understanding one you cannot understand the other. This means that one cannot say ‘I must only have pleasure and no fear’; fear is the other side of the coin which is called pleasure.
Thinking with the images of yesterday’s pleasure, thought imagines that you may not have that pleasure tomorrow; so thought engenders fear. Thought tries to sustain pleasure and thereby nourishes fear.
Thought has separated itself as the analyzer and the thing to be analyzed; they are both parts of thought playing tricks upon itself. In doing all this it is refusing to examine the unconscious fears; it brings in time as a means of escaping fear and yet at the same time sustains fear.” [78]

Anyone with a self-identity is in a state of self-delusion and self-denial - the denial of who and what they really are. Self image immediately transfers our point of observation from the all to the small. It is the box-builder, the guard at the door to infinity.
And by self-image I mean any self-image - I am a man; I am a woman; I am white; I am black; I am a Muslim; I am a Jew; I am good; I am bad; I am lucky; I am unlucky; I am rich; I am poor; I am loving; I am hateful. Even 'I am human' is a self-identity because 'human' is a software program - a manifestation of what I call 'body consciousness'. We are not human - our vehicle is.

As You can see David's line of thought often parallels and draws inspiration and knowledge from some of the worlds greatest thinkers He also has one priceless thing to add that is in very short supply today and that is good old common sense.
I feel sometimes that a lot of people do not realise how deeply he must have studied a myriad of disciplines to pull everything together like he has done. To be able to move around in and pull together on one page stuff like African Shamanism and Tibetan buddhist philosophy so seamlessly as David does time and time again with a multitude of subjects is no mean feat.
This to me proves the interconnectedness of all the core teachings of the old masters and shamans ..... There is but one knowledge in many guises and people's attachment to their self identities gets themselves wrapped up in the guise so much they are blinded to the knowledge hiding beneath.
Our attachment to self and our emotions is our biggest obstacle to self development. This can be seen time and time again on this forum when threads disintegrate into ego battles on whose view is right on certain things. I often wonder why people come on this forum to do that when the forum is all about the work of one man who brings the wisdom of the old teachings into everyday language as well as exposing the World order for the fraud that it is. I often wonder if certain contributors here understand one word of what David Icke is all about. He is certainly not just about exposing the NWO ..... he is also about ... The Infinite love professed by sages since year dot and about us reclaiming it for ourselves. That will not happen by bickering here on the forum between ourselves.

Self-identity can be all-powerful and, like the body, its prime motivation is survival. That can make it hard to shake, but shaken it must be if freedom is the goal.

Duality... Yes, you are right, but let me present you with a better picture of what is happening:
Take a white light. Put it through a prism. What is the result? A rainbow of all the colors. The white light is one, the rainbow of colors is many. God is one; we are many. But notice that the rainbow is gotten from the white light; it is the white seperated into its component parts. We are more god than thos in the 4th dimension want us to know (or other men ruling over us...).
But also notice the rainbow has no bands of the color white. The rainbow is seperate from the white light.
Yes, we are in duality. We have been immersed in duality. This will be lifted. But, we will not stop being the rainbow (incarnating in the flesh here); just a higher vibration....

I view religion as a jewell, with many facets. Each facet is a different belief, trying to achieve the same goal, a return to the source. Each belief has some truth, and some bs. For the first time, scientists have captured detailed images of life's essence.
The dazzling pictures reveal a key step in the process of cell division, which all organisms must undergo to survive. The moment occurs deep within a cell, as two proteins work in concert to unzip a strand of DNA to create two new cells.
But until now, scientists seeking to directly observe this essential process only could view fuzzy images taken by an electron microscope.
A scientist at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center has changed that by perfecting a technique employed by biophysicist Rosalind Franklin more than half a century ago to gather the first images of DNA.
The new work, by biochemist Maria Schumacher, goes far beyond taking pretty pictures of life in motion, however.
Her efforts are part of a widespread push by biomedical scientists to understand the molecular cause of disease. By fully comprehending these root causes, they hope to devise more effective disease treatments.
"If we understand in great detail the structure of the proteins involved in normal cell growth, then we can understand when there's been a change to cause some sort of defect," said William Klein, chairman of M.D. Anderson's department of biochemistry and molecular biology.
By understanding the precise mechanism by which a cancer cell divides, for instance, it might be possible for scientists to develop a better drug to stop the process.
Schumacher is at the forefront of the growing field of structural biology, in which scientists have used sophisticated techniques to make atom-by-atom maps of proteins and, more recently, multiprotein structures.
There are hundreds to thousands of atoms in each protein, the workhorses inside human cells that fold into precise shapes as they carry out myriad tasks, including the essential chore of making copies of DNA for new cells.
A decade ago, a handful of proteins were mapped each year. Now, Schumacher said, there are about 1,000 a year.
Far trickier to map are multiprotein complexes, such as those Schumacher imaged to better understand cell division. She had to capture more than one protein at a time, freezing a moment in their delicate folding dances. It was as much art as science.
To get fine pictures of these structures, scientists must "crystallize" them, meaning they must remove all impurities and, using a variety of techniques, condense what remains behind until it becomes a solid structure. That is easier said than done. Schumacher failed 42 times before creating a suitable crystal of one particular protein. "It's frustrating sometimes," she said. "But in the end, to me, it's always worth it to see the final picture."
After crystallizing a protein or multiprotein structure, Schumacher travels to Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in California to use its powerful synchrotron, a particle accelerator that bombards the crystals with high-intensity X-ray beams. This reveals a map of electrons a computer program can compile into the protein's structure in a process called X-ray crystallography. Schumacher's had more luck than most crystallizing proteins.
"These are really blue-ribbon structures," said Yousif Shamoo, an associate professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Rice University who is familiar with Schumacher's work. "It's not like people haven't been trying to do this for years. She's just been successful at it."
Since 2001, Schumacher has had three papers published in Nature, two in Cell and one in Science, the three most exalted journals for basic science research.
In addition to having a knack for crystallizing proteins, Schumacher seems to intuitively know which protein images will reveal something about their function in addition to their structure, Klein said.
The most famous example of structure indicating function came from Franklin's crystallography images of DNA, which enabled biologists James Watson and Francis Crick to make their Nobel-winning discovery. They deduced from DNA's double-helix shape how the strands could come apart and replicate.
Schumacher's images of the heretofore-unseen machinations of cell division reveal the finer details of this earlier, landmark work. And like the first images of DNA, they reveal something about the function of proteins.
It is clear from her images that, in cell division, one protein first forms a wheel-shaped scaffold around which the DNA curls. With the DNA held into place, a second protein comes along and scissors it in two.
And life begins anew.

Aspiration: Contemplation of the Heart
In The "Letters of Rabbi Akiva," the full spelling of the letter lamed (lamed-mem-dalet) is read as short for the phrase: "a heart that understands knowledge" (lev meivin da'at). The numerical value of this phrase (608) equals "heart" (32) times "Eve" (19), i.e. "the heart of Eve."
In his commentary on the story of the Garden of Eden, the original episode of mankind, Rabbi Avraham Ibn Ezra states that Adam is the secret of the brain; Eve, the secret of the heart; the snake, the secret of the liver. In Kabbalah and Chassidut these fundamental correspondences are developed and explained in depth.
Adam and Eve, male and female, are the prototype spiritual forces of giving and receiving. The marital union and gift of male to female relates to the secret of knowledge, as is said: "And Adam knew his wife Eve." For this reason Adam and Eve are often seen to represent teacher and pupil. The teacher contracts his intellect into a point (yud) in order to convey his teaching to his student, whereas the student nullifies his previous levels of conception to become a fitting vessel for the new, wondrous teachings of his teacher.
In particular, the form of the lamed represents the aspiration of the truly devoted pupil to learn from the mouth of the teacher. The literal meaning of the letter lamed is "to learn" (or "teach"). The seed of wisdom, alluded to by the letter yud, descends from the brain (Adam) to impregnate the full consciousness of the heart (Eve). The heart aspires (upwardly) to receive this point of insight from the brain. This is the secret of the form of the letter lamed, the heart ascending in aspiration to conceive and comprehend ("understand knowledge") the point of wisdom, the yud situated at the top of the letter lamed.
Our Sages refer to the lamed as "a tower soaring in air." Three hundred laws relate to the secret of this "flying tower." In our study of Torah, the "flying tower" is the expression of our love and devotion to the teachings of the Torah, our aspiration to conceive its inner truth, lifting us above the "gravity barrier" of earthly preoccupation. We are told that the Ba'al Shem Tov would place the palm of his hand on the heart of a Jewish child and bless him to be a "warm Jew." The palm, the power to actualize potential, becomes manifest - at the inner spiritual level - in the "will [crown, keter] of the heart" to conceive and unite with God's Will, the teachings of Torah. The lamed, the heart, aspires upwardly and connects to the yud of Divine insight. This is reflected in the form of the letter lamed, a kaf reaching upward to a yud. This is also the secret of the spiritual sequence hinted at in the letters of the word keli, "vessel" (kaf-lamed-yud): the power to actualize potential (the palm [kaf] of the Ba'al Shem Tov), manifest in the aspiration of the heart [lamed] reaching upward to conceive the secret of Divine wisdom [yud]. Throughout Torah the heart symbolizes the primary concept of vessel, the secret of Eve.

Natural Star Gate Opening Cycles
The process of dissolving the lower-dimensional energy capsules within the Auric Field and transmuting their particle content into the next Harmonic Universe is referred to as a Transmutative Activation or Stellar Activation.
Stellar Activations and Wave Infusions are the process by which the Star Crystal Seals are activated and Stellar Spiral Alignment are the catalysis through which Stellar Activation can occur.
As the planetary body or human body evolves through frequency accretion, the energetic capsules within the Auric Field progressively undergo transmutation of form.

The Auric Field of the planet and those of Earth's populations will undergo transformation between 2000AD-2017AD.

ENCODED DIGITAL MESSAGES
Physical reality is a consciousness program created by digital codes. Numbers - numeric codes - define our existence. Human DNA - our genetic memory - is encoded - to be triggered by digits at specific times. Those codes awaken the mind to the change and evolution of consciousness.
We all have one or more numeric codes that follow the blueprint of Sacred Geometry. The articles the OP posted are very confusing. All I could gather from them was that the holy grail is a fully functional piece of 12 strand DNA. We only have 2 working strands of DNA, the rest are muddled up. The holy grail would be 12 strands all working properly.
Has anyone ever done the 12 strand DNA activation therapy?

Hi Edit, I have been reading through the post but it is not clear how we ascend. It is stated that there are 6 or 12 possible ascension periods between 2000 and 2017 and that they may be assosciated with dates where all the digits are the same.
Also a meditation exercise is given but I would be interested to know your take on this ... Also we only need to actually accomplish 1 1/2 of these ascensions ..... I dont have time just yet to give the thread more examination but I wonder if you'd drawn any conclusions ..

In the upcoming rare Vancouver clear nights - enjoy an evening walk and look first southward and to the eastern horizon where you will see the constellation Orion.
Inside this constellation holds some of the most active and spectacular galactic images. There are a number of visible nebula's that can be made out using just binoculars. My favourite Orion nebula is the Horsehead which can only be seen unfortunately through a high powered telescope.
Also looking directly overhead is the constellation "Andromeda" - a fuzzy oval shape to the naked eye that is approx. 1.5 million light years away.

The seventh Mandala of the Rigveda has 104 hymns. Most hymns in this book are attributed to vasiṣṭha maitravaurṇi. It is one of the "family books" (mandalas 2-7), the oldest core of the Rigveda.
The hymns are dedicated to Agni, Indra, the Visvadevas, the Maruts, Mitra-Varuna, the Asvins, Ushas (Dawn), Indra-Varuna, Varuna, Vayu (Wind), two each to Sarasvati, Rudra, the Waters, the Adityas, Vishnu, Vastospati, Brhaspati, one each to the Apris, to Vasistha, Savitar, Bhaga, the Dadhikras, the Rbhus, Dyaus and Prthivi (Heaven and Earth), Parjanya (Rain) and Indra-Soma. 7.103 is dedicated to the frogs.http://www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20070725/jp3.jpg
The rivers mentioned in the 7th Mandala are the Sarasvati, Asikni, Parusni and possibly the Yamuna (in 7.18.19 the name of a helper of Indra, maybe also the name of a woman or goddess). Hymns 75 and 76 are entirely dedicated to Sarasvati.
The 7th Mandala contains references to the Battle of the Ten Kings (notably hymns 18 and 83), where king Suda defeated a confederation of hostile Aryan and Dasyu tribes. This may correspond to a historical war (mythologically embellished, similar to the Iliad) dating to the early phase of Indo-Aryan presence in India.

The mathematical concept of a function expresses dependence between two quantities, one of which is given (the independent variable, argument of the function, or its "input") and the other produced (the dependent variable, value of the function, or "output"). A function associates a single output to each input element drawn from a fixed set, such as the real numbers.
There are many ways to give a function: by a formula, by a plot or graph, by an algorithm that computes it, by a description of its properties. Sometimes, a function is described through its relationship to other functions (see, for example, inverse function). In applied disciplines, functions are frequently specified by their tables of values or by a formula. Not all types of description can be given for every possible function, and one must make a firm distinction between the function itself and multiple ways of presenting or visualizing it.
One idea of enormous importance in all of mathematics is composition of functions: if z is a function of y and y is a function of x, then z is a function of x. We may describe it informally by saying that the composite function is obtained by using the output of the first function as the input of the second one. This feature of functions distinguishes them from other mathematical constructs, such as numbers or figures, and provides the theory of functions with its most powerful structure.
Introduction
Functions play a fundamental role in all areas of mathematics, as well as in other sciences and engineering. However, the intuition pertaining to functions, notation, and even the very meaning of the term "function" varies between the fields. More abstract areas of mathematics, such as set theory, consider very general types of functions, which may not be specified by a concrete rule and are not governed by any familiar principles. The characteristic property of a function in the most abstract sense is that it relates exactly one output to each of its admissible inputs. Such functions need not involve numbers and may, for example, associate each of a set of words with their own first letters.
Functions in algebra are usually expressible in terms of algebraic operations. Functions studied in analysis, such as the exponential function, may have additional properties arising from continuity of space, but in the most general case cannot be defined by a single formula. Analytic functions in complex analysis may be defined fairly concretely through their series expansions. On the other hand, in lambda calculus, function is a primitive concept, instead of being defined in terms of set theory. The terms transformation and mapping are often synonymous with function. In some contexts, however, they differ slightly. In the first case, the term transformation usually applies to functions whose inputs and outputs are elements of the same set or more general structure. Thus, we speak of linear transformations from a vector space into itself and of symmetry transformations of a geometric object or a pattern. In the second case, used to describe sets whose nature is arbitrary, the term mapping is the most general concept of function.
Mathematical functions are denoted frequently by letters, and the standard notation for the output of a function ƒ with the input x is ƒ(x). A function may be defined only for certain inputs, and the collection of all acceptable inputs of the function is called its domain. The set of all resulting outputs is called the range of the function. However, in many fields, it is also important to specify the codomain of a function, which contains the range, but need not be equal to it. The distinction between range and codomain lets us ask whether the two happen to be equal, which in particular cases may be a question of some mathematical interest.
For example, the expression ƒ(x) = x2 describes a function ƒ of a variable x, which, depending on the context, may be an integer, a real or complex number or even an element of a group. Let us specify that x is an integer; then this function relates each input, x, with a single output, x2, obtained from x by squaring. Thus, the input of 3 is related to the output of 9, the input of 1 to the output of 1, and the input of −2 to the output of 4, and we write ƒ(3) = 9, ƒ(1)=1, ƒ(−2)=4. Since every integer can be squared, the domain of this function consists of all integers, while its range is the set of perfect squares. If we choose integers as the codomain as well, we find that many numbers, such as 2, 3, and 6, are in the codomain but not the range.
It is a usual practice in mathematics to introduce functions with temporary names like ƒ; in the next paragraph we might define ƒ(x) = 2x+1, and then ƒ(3) = 7. When a name for the function is not needed, often the form y = x2 is used.

Transubstantiation is generally understood to refer to the belief that at the "moment" of Consecration, the elements (or "gifts" as they are termed for liturgical purposes) of bread and wine are transformed (literally trans-substance-iated) into the actual Body and Blood of Christ. The terms "elements" or "gifts" are preferred, as it is theologically incorrect to refer to the "bread" or "wine" after they have been consecrated, as Roman Catholics believe they are no longer bread and wine. "Substance" as a philosophical term describes what a given object is, the properties of the object that are essential to "it" being "it." Without its substance, an object ceases to be what it "is." For example, hair is an accident of humans, while being a mammal is substantial. If a human loses its hair, it is still human. I have heard, and I believe it could be true, that the subconscious mind cannot understand negations.
When we hear messages on television then negations are seldom used. Maybe that's because the media manipulators know that the subconscious cannot absorb negations. When we hear 'ordinary' people talk they often say "Don't do this or that". As I read the descriptions for Kata seoi nage, I cannot find any great technical difference between that and what we commonly call Ippon seoi nage.
At least this time, I know I'm out of my depth. I have to go review my vocabulary, but I also have some questions about syntax: Why the change from kata seoi nage, if kata means shoulder, to ippon? Is this ippon as in "full point?" What's the context in that - or in the fact that if kata means shoulder, how can it also mean 'form'? I'm assuming that this is a quirk of the language, perhaps like the words 'hear' and 'here' in English.
So now Bob is off to sort out his ura nage, which 'Kodokan' translates as "back throw." One of the questions he'll have to answer for himself is whether that means a throw done with one's back or to throw someone, directionally, to the back.

What of all the pictures that shows liquid water to be present on the surface of Mars today?
The air pressure is so low on Mars that liquid water almost immediatly turns into water vapor as soon as it is exposed.
I don't doubt liquid water exists underground or under the ice cap, or even that liquid water can exist for a few moments on the surface. But it is impossible for water to be exposed to those low pressures and remain as a liquid...it should all turn to water vapor.
Impossible? Well should the fact that we can observe water on the surface not then suggest that the atmospheric pressure is nothing like what we were led to believe?
Here on Earth, one of the things keeping our water in its liquid state is air pressure. If you put a beaker of water into a vacuum chamber, it begins to evaporate into water vapor, as if it is boiling (without the heat). Granted -- Mars' air pressure isn't that of a vacuum, but it is very low.

David Icke, in Children of the Matrix, chapter 19 entitled "The Gatekeepers", says this about relationships:
"What we are being challenged to do here is for all of us to access all of us. Therefore to become balanced "wholes" within ourselves without the need to find an external "other half". The third force then manifests within all of us, and relationships are the interaction of two whole people and not two halves seeking external balance. Those relationships are based on the mutual respect of each partner for the other's wholeness and individuality. If they don't fulfil the blueprint then fine because whole people do not want a relationship with a blueprint."
And then a few more paragraph's later says:
"]Relationships as they are currently perceived, desired, and demanded, serve the Matrix magnificently because they suppress what is necessary for the partners to reach wholeness within themselves. Once whatever they need to express or experience on that journey starts to affect their partner in ways they don't like, the pressure is applied, internally and externally, to suppress that experience and stay in the prison cell.
If this attitude does not stop, the Matrix will continue to hold together for as long as the attitude prevails. It will always produce the gatekeeper relationship in which each partner keeps the other in mental and emotional servitude while calling it love and the ideal relationship.'
I think what David is saying here is quite important because "matrix relationships" do suppress what is necessary for the partners to reach wholeness within themselves. And this "suppression' is a barrier for the relationship to keep on stagnating and never advancing. To break out of the "matrix" is to break out of all old mind sets that hinder growth...and this includes interpersonal relationships as well.

Scientists at the University of St Andrews have used lasers to simulate a black hole in their laboratory. Professor Ulf Leonhardt and Dr Friedrich König used intense light pulses to create an artificial `event horizon' - the defining feature of a black hole known as `the point of no return'. The development may allow researchers to test Professor Stephen Hawking's theory that black holes are not black at all but in fact radiate light. The research will be published tomorrow in Science.
It is the first time that scientists have successfully simulated an event horizon using light. There is no danger however of the scientists being sucked into deep space by an intense pull of gravity, since the tabletop device only acts on light in optical fibres and is perfectly harmless.
The St Andrews demonstration of the physics behind the event horizon, in which they measured the shifting of light, has been described as a `milestone'.
The researchers accomplished the feat by firing laser light down an optical fibre - with different wavelengths of light moving at different speeds, creating a distortion which causes a wave of light to be trapped - effectively a black hole event horizon which cannot be escaped.
The `fibre-optical black hole', created by the St Andrews team on a shoestring budget, could allow physicists to investigate what happens to light at both sides of an event horizon - something they describe as a `feat that is utterly impossible in astrophysics'.
Describing the study as a `scientific adventure and formidable challenge', Professor Leonhardt, of the University's School of Physics & Astronomy, said, "Creating optical analogues (simulations) of the event horizon has been an exciting adventure with many ups and downs, high hopes and deep disappointments, an adventure that seems destined to continue. So far, most of it is still theory, but we succeeded in the first small step of demonstrating in the laboratory the physics of horizons for light.
"We used ultrashort light pulses in microstructured optical fibres to demonstrate the formation of an artificial event horizon in optics. We have created analogues of the horizon - not real black holes - that only act on light in the fibre, and we observed a classical optical effect, the blue-shifting of light at a white-hole horizon," he said.
Previous researchers have compared a black hole event to a river flowing towards a waterfall. A horizon (point of no return) is formed at the point where the river moves faster than the speed of the waves. Instead of water, the St Andrews researchers decided to use light because it offers unrivalled advantages; light is the purest and simplest quantum object imaginable, creating fibre-optical horizons of pure glass, light and air.
The researchers say that event horizons are not hard to create and that making a long-distance telephone call can create them without callers even noticing.
"You can simulate an event horizon in the kitchen. Just let water from the tap flow onto a flat surface until a ring of water waves appears - the water inside the ring is smooth and moves faster than the waves around it, making it impossible for the waves to enter the ring. Instead, the water flows outwards and gets slower. Rings of waves form at the circle where the water slows down to the speed of the waves. This circle represents a white-hole horizon," explained Professor Leonhardt.
"It happens all the time in optical telecommunications where information is carried by light pulses which change the speed of light - whenever people communicate via fibre optics, using the internet or making long-distance phone calls, they create numerous artificial event horizons as a side effect without noticing it. The front end of each pulse generates a black-hole horizon, an area that light cannot leave, while the trailing end acts like a white-hole horizon, an area that light cannot enter," he said.
The researchers hope that by using sophisticated laser systems and advanced optical fibres, their horizon will eventually be strong enough to observe Hawking's radiation theory.

I believe that observation was originally due to Feynman. Draw something like a large "M" on a sheet of paper. Think of the space axis as horizontal and the time axis as vertical. Take a straight edge, place it horizontally across the bottom of the page and move it slowly up the page. Think of the points at which the lines cross your straightedge as being the positions of particles at the present time. Initially you have two particles that are moving toward each other. Think of the particle on your left as being an electron and the particle on the right as being a positron.
When your straightedge meets the central "V" of the "M", two new particles magically appear out of nowhere! That is a "creation pair"- a particle and its anti-particle, an electron and a positron. Now continue moving the straight edge up the paper. You now have two pairs of particle moving toward each other, one pair on the left, the other on the right. When you finally reach the two "/\" points of the "M" those two pair disappear: an electron and a positron have annihilated each other. The electron that was originally on the left has annihilated the positron that was created in the middle and the electron that was created in the middle has annihilated the postitron that was initially on the right.
Now lift your straightedge and look at the "M" itself. Do you see that you can think of that a single track: as an electron coming in on the left, moving "forward in time" then suddenly is turned "back in time" until, at the "V" it turns "forward in time" again , eventually hits the top "/\" and turns back in time once more. The movement "back in time" is what we, with our limited "one instant" perspective, see as a positron.
You might suspect that it would take some real cataclysm to change motion "forward in time" to "backward in time" and vice-versa. That's exactly right! It is the enormous energy, E= mc2, necessary to create an eletron-positron pair or given up when such a pair annihilates.
I have no idea how "serious" Feynman was when he proposed this but it does answer one basic question: All electrons are identical because there's really only one electron, bouncing back and forth in time!

well, these particles are only to exist a certain time interval, the more energy you "borrow" to violate energy conservation, the less time you can have it. Delta E times Delta t = Hbar
But now I think HallsofIvy was referring to pair creation out of photons.

This was the interpretation by feynman and stuckelberg and also the begining in a sense of feynman diagrams.Dirac's theory also predicted particles with negative energy.People at that time couldn't understand what that could mean.You have to think just like when a negative charge is leaving is like having a positive charge coming.that was the case.particles with negative energy travelling back in time are just particles with positive energy traveling forward in time.these are called antiparticles and have same mass but different charge with the original particles.Positrons were found five years after dirac's theory(1927-1932) and i think that feynman was really satisfied with the explanation.

(CNN) -- Was it a theft? A prank? A roundabout effort to bring some holiday cheer to the police? Authorities in Harwich, Massachusetts, are probing the mysterious appearance of a piano, in good working condition, in the middle of the woods.

Discovered by a woman who was walking a trail, the Baldwin Acrosonic piano, model number 987, is intact -- and, apparently, in tune.
Sgt. Adam Hutton of the Harwich Police Department said information has been broadcast to all the other police departments in the Cape Cod area in hopes of drumming up a clue, however minor it may be.
But so far, the investigation is flat.
Also of note: Near the mystery piano -- serial number 733746 -- was a bench, positioned as though someone was about to play.
The piano was at the end of a dirt road, near a walking path to a footbridge in the middle of conservation land near the Cape.
It took a handful of police to move the piano into a vehicle to transport it to storage, so it would appear that putting it into the woods took more than one person.

Asked whether Harwich police will be holding a holiday party in the storage bay -- tickling the ivories, pouring eggnog -- while they await word of the piano's origin and fate, Hutton laughed. No such plans.

Can a single molecule behave as a mirror?

(PhysOrg.com) -- “We have shown for the first time, theoretically, that a single molecule can behave as a perfect mirror,” Mario Agio tells PhysOrg.com. “Imagine that your mirror at home becomes a single molecule and that you put a strong lens between you and it. Well, you could still see the image of your face reflected…[A]mazing if you think that a molecule is just about a nanometer in size.”
Agio is a scientist at the Nano-Optics Group headed by Vahid Sandoghdar at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Sandoghdar’s team investigates both theoretically and experimentally how light interacts with nanoscale objects. “Theoretically,” Agio says, “we show that a directional dipole wave can be reflected by one point-like oscillating dipole.” The results of the work done by the Group, including Gert Zumofen and Nassiredin Mojarad, can be seen in Physical Review Letters: “Perfect Reflection of Light by an Oscillating Dipole.”
“There are many possibilities for this kind of work,” Agio points out. He explains that, “Once you can realize efficient coupling between a photon and a molecule or atom in free space, there is a great deal that you can do. For example, advanced solar cells, spectroscopy, quantum communications and quantum computation would all benefit from stronger interaction between light and matter.”
However, there are some technical problems that need to be overcome in the lab. One of the more pressing issues is the fact that molecules behave like strongly damped oscillators at room temperature. “We need to cool the system to very low temperatures,” Agio says. Referring to work published earlier this year in Nature Physics (“Efficient coupling of photons to a single molecule and the observation of its resonance fluorescence”), he continues: “Indeed, our experiments have been able to achieve 12 percent extinction of light in the forward direction by a single molecule.
Agio also explains that there are problems with being able to focus. “The reflection is only 100 percent if you can create a focused beam with lenses that just are not available today. But a terrific 80 percent reflection should be possible even with today’s conventional lenses and laser beams.”
Sandoghdar’s group has been considering future developments for this work, and Agio discusses some of the possibilities. “We are considering the use of optical antennas to overcome the limitations of focusing. We should be able to channel and collect light more efficiently, improving the coupling between a photon and a single molecule, very much in the same way the antenna in your cell phone receives and send calls.” He pauses before adding: “We’d have to make it very small, though, scaling everything down to optical frequencies is challenging.”

Agio is optimistic. THE HEART OF PRAJNA PARAMITA SUTRA
When Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara was practicing the profound Prajna Paramita, he illuminated the Five Skandhas and saw that they are all empty, and he crossed beyond all suffering and difficulty. Shariputra, form does not differ from emptiness; emptiness does not differ from form. Form itself is emptiness; emptiness itself is form. So too are feeling, cognition, formation, and consciousness.
Shariputra, all Dharmas are empty of characteristics. They are not produced, not destroyed, not defiled, not pure; and they neither increase nor diminish. Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, feeling, cognition, formation, or consciousness; no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no sights, sounds, smells, tastes, objects of touch, or Dharmas; no field of the eyes up to and including no field of mind consciousness; and no ignorance or ending of ignorance, up to and including no old age and death or ending of old age and death. There is no suffering, no accumulating, no extinction, and no Way, and no understanding and no attaining.
Because nothing is attained, the Bodhisattva through reliance on Prajna Paramita is unimpeded in his mind. Because there is no impediment, he is not afraid, and he leaves distorted dream-thinking far behind. Ultimately Nirvana! All Buddhas of the three periods of time attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi through reliance on Prajna Paramita. Therefore know that Prajna Paramita is a Great Spiritual Mantra, a Great Bright Mantra, a Supreme Mantra, an Unequalled Mantra. It can remove all suffering; it is genuine and not false. That is why the Mantra of Prajna Paramita was spoken. Recite it like this:

We still have emotions and feelings, but the good ones can be brought to a higher level and intensity.
As the clarity of your mind increases, your sense of touch, smell and taste also become more acute. Your feelings for others take on a new depth. You will observe the world from a more optimistic vantage point, not being overwhelmed by the "gloom and doom".
HOW to achieve this state is where we get into controversy and struggle. In a one-on-one session I ask many questions, but I will also probe your mind for the hidden "stuff" that lies buried in the subconscious and bring it to the surface. Once its exposed, we keep the "good", but get rid of the "bad".

Something I have noticed about wisdom is that it only exists in the margins, occasionally...
When you apply what you have learned from the past, and that information actually works in new, but similar, situations.
We separate creativity from wisdom based on this one point, on the idea of encountering something similar before.
This means that there is no real and consistent wisdom!
:)
If there was, we could just by the "big book of wisdom" and never make any mistakes in life.
*But then I maintain that maturity comes down to a personal judgment call...
If you do roughly what I think of as being correct, you are making a mature decision.
Act as I would like to or think you should and you are acting in a mature fashion...
:)
Some day I will go through all of the parts of human existence and see how many other "natural things" come down to making stuff up as we go along!

I believe that observation was originally due to Feynman. Draw something like a large "M" on a sheet of paper. Think of the space axis as horizontal and the time axis as vertical. Take a straight edge, place it horizontally across the bottom of the page and move it slowly up the page. Think of the points at which the lines cross your straightedge as being the positions of particles at the present time. Initially you have two particles that are moving toward each other. Think of the particle on your left as being an electron and the particle on the right as being a positron.
When your straightedge meets the central "V" of the "M", two new particles magically appear out of nowhere! That is a "creation pair"- a particle and its anti-particle, an electron and a positron. Now continue moving the straight edge up the paper. You now have two pairs of particle moving toward each other, one pair on the left, the other on the right. When you finally reach the two "/\" points of the "M" those two pair disappear: an electron and a positron have annihilated each other. The electron that was originally on the left has annihilated the positron that was created in the middle and the electron that was created in the middle has annihilated the postitron that was initially on the right.
Now lift your straightedge and look at the "M" itself. Do you see that you can think of that a single track: as an electron coming in on the left, moving "forward in time" then suddenly is turned "back in time" until, at the "V" it turns "forward in time" again , eventually hits the top "/\" and turns back in time once more. The movement "back in time" is what we, with our limited "one instant" perspective, see as a positron.
You might suspect that it would take some real cataclysm to change motion "forward in time" to "backward in time" and vice-versa. That's exactly right! It is the enormous energy, E= mc2, necessary to create an eletron-positron pair or given up when such a pair annihilates.
I have no idea how "serious" Feynman was when he proposed this but it does answer one basic question: All electrons are identical because there's really only one electron, bouncing back and forth in time!
