I have spent the last 30 minutes reading a few threads here and there on this site and it has only added to my conclusion about opinion and justice. The simple answer that I have come to is that they are not important.
I was stuck for a long time arguing the case about xyz. Not realising I was developing afflicting emotions, from people criticising my views, I looked at it a bit deeper and came to the conclusion that I would fight tooth and nail to protect my opinions and argue the toss about each and everything I believed in. I was wrong. Not necessarily wrong in everything I said (although some of it was) but in my reactions to criticism. I am still stuck to a certain degree but I want out!
9/11 is the one that I like to look at as the perfect argument, it is one where people argue with each other who was to blame, NWO, Jews, islam etc.. In the end what does it matter?, the fact is atrocities like this have happened all through time, and yes there is someone to blame but why focus are energies on revenge, justice and blame. The real quality individuals are the ones who look at it and feel compassion for the victims and direct their energies to helping those affected by the incident, not go out pointing the finger in some tainted version of justice, these people are unwittingly being controlled by their own hatred.
People profess to forgiveness as an ideal, well why not stop with the simple who did what campaign and practice what they preach. I know it is difficult to forgive as this requires understanding, understanding that we are all capable of such evils. The real enemy is fear within ourselves not what people are capable of.
Instead of a war on terror or a war on society or a war on manipulation, why not a war on afflicitive emotions within ourselves?
Another one that I am attempting to overcome is justice, is there any room for it in society, can we forgive those who wrong us? If we can at all times whatever the situation then justice is no longer needed. I know the reaction of people, who will tell me of dave who is a child murdering pedophile who has just blown up a school with their kids in it, well it is perhaps near impossible to forgive such evils but if we can surely at least try. Maybe if we look at society and why it is creating such individuals we might get somewhere.
I am not admonishing passivity, I am saying when we are put in the position we are strong within our self to help people but with compassion for the creator of evils and see it within ourselves.
So if we believe in Christianity and somebody criticises our views, we say I believe this to be true but I maybe wrong and I will listen to all other opinions no matter how outlandish or aggressive it may seem to me and take on board what lessons and be willing to change our beliefs if we see fit and attempt not to judge others because of there opinions.
It is difficult task but the above statements I will fight tooth and nail to achieve in myself yet be willing to change if someone has a more valid view, and is that not why these forums are here?
In the end does it really matter if we believe one thing or another, it is our actions and the way we conduct ourselves which I believe to be the key.
Although like all things I maybe wrong!
