I have heard a few interpretations and explanations as to what the "i" means. Many of these include "internet, information, interface".

However....it is in my opinion that "i" soley relates to the self. As in "I am" or "I went out last night". As David Icke has said, there are two types of "I". There is the Mind based five sense reality or perception of "I" which sees the world according and interprets it through, sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing and the other "I" which is "Infinite Consciousness".

I believe the "i" is used to further disassociate humanity from its true self; Infinite Consciousness. It appears in all entertainment today in music, television, even dance. Mechanical action and procession takes the place of the human. It is an agenda to keep humanity from discovering the hidden truths. COmmercials selling products such as phones and ipods being used and played by roboticized objects. Such as this commercial;

Motorola Droid Commercial - Human? - YouTube

What we have here (and it should be clear) the replacement of the artificial taking place of the human. Its an agenda to replace humanity and perfect it through technology; which incapable of "Infinite Consciousness" and even Mind the five sense based interpretation of life. TPTB believe mankind need to be perfected in order to live forever. This because they are stuck in a material existence devoid of "Infinite Consciousness". They believe turning mankind/themselves into robots is the way to achieve true sustainable life.

Here are more examples of the human replaced by technology.

it comes from the term information technology, I think it started with the ipod, because that was such a popular piece of tech, everyone else jumped on the bandwagon, I don't think it has any deeper meaning.

I think it does have a deeper meaning. It has simultaneous meanings actually.

"I" as in self. As in self obsessed society. Ego rules. 15 minutes of fame. Everybody is a rockstar mentality.

"I" As in information. Yes obviously, the digital age.

"I" as in EYE. As in All Seeing Eye.

Plus I always thought iPod was a good way as any to describe an organic portal. Invasion of the Body Snatchers...Really quite a timely marketing ploy.;)
