(from wiki) The game takes place in the fictional floating world of Cocoon, whose government, the Sanctum, is ordering a purge on civilians who have supposedly come into contact with those from Pulse, the much-feared world below. Lightning, a former soldier from Cocoon, begins her fight against the government in order to save her sister, who has been branded a l'Cie - unwilling servants to the beings known as the fal'Cie, who maintain order on both Cocoon and Pulse - and thus has become an enemy of Cocoon. Lightning is soon joined by a band of allies, and together the group also become l'Cie after their encounter with a Pulse fal'Cie. Together, they rally against the Sanctum, while also trying to discover their "Focus" as l'Cies - the tasks they must complete before their time comes to an end.
----------
The bottom line is -
The moon is hollow and the planet is an abandoned wasteland of monsters. Fal'cie are robotic aliens that built and control cocoon and use humans like slaves, and their plan is to force the main human characters to destroy orphan the Fal'cie that supplies energy to cocoon so that all the humans die simultaneously which throws open the doors to divinity wide with all the souls pouring into the afterlife so that the Fal'cie maker returns, destroys cocoon, and rebuilds the planet below to restore the Fal'cie's former glory.
The reason the moon is 'cracked' is because only a few hundred years prior a monster called Ragnarok was summoned to destroy Cocoon and kill Orphan but the fortitude of the moon was too great and it was only cracked rather than destroyed.
The Sanctum, which is the human controlled aristocracy of Cocoon, is really controlled by a Fal'Cie that SHAPESHIFTS into human. The entire populace believes that the sanctum is there to protect them from the monsters of Pulse (the planet below), but in reality, Pulse while a savage place is not evil, and the true evil is the leader of the human government, a shapeshifting Fal'Cie whose ultimate plan is to have Cocoon destroyed and all the humans that have been 'bred' into such numbers killed in one giant mass sacrifice.
Chew on that for a while.

Blatant similarities to Icke's work, but I wonder who stole the idea from who.

Maybe the idea was not stolen from anyone. Maybe that's just the Truth, and according to David Icke, people pick up the truth since it is available in the vibrational frequencies...
In my humble opinion, I am quite convinced that something is going on with the Moon, and David Icke is on point with his analysis.
I agree, mainly due to personal experience... that and the dreams I've been having... before even reading any David Icke's work...
It cannot be by accident that various artworks, literature, animations, game designs, etc.. all take on the stance of the Moon being... "artificial"
It's not the idea is being passed around. It's just the Moon is in fact ARTIFICIAL.

Another part of the story is that if l'Cie don't finish their focus they are transformed into mindless monsters/slaves if they do manage it they are turned to crystal so they can be given a new focus and used again at a later date.

very very interesting...
.... i used to live in tokyo and work for Hara Tetsuo, I tried waking him up on several occasions, but he never seemed to pick up on my information (although he was extremely interested in Atlantis)...
when i move back there in the next 10 months i'm making it my goal to wake up as many influential japanese writers/artists and musicians that i can... i think a lot more of them will be open to the ideas.

Should read "Who stole the idea from whom." because "whom" is the objective case like him. Besides, "whom" always goes after a preposition.
In Final Fantasy IV there is a Moon level where you need a spaceship manufactured by the ancients to reach the Moon, and on the Moon they talk about a planet between Mars and Jupiter having been destroyed.

Hironobu Sakaguchi is awake.
Square Enix, the game's developers, had the idea of monsters coming from the moon as far back as 1997.

I just read my old post.. and I must say that it seems like I am holding a different point of view..
Perhaps.. rather than saying that the moon is artificial...
I would rather say "Something is going on with the moon."
That's all I can say thus far.

I agree with both your posts, but everything is artificial really, all an illusion :D
In FF8 The Moon turns into the all seeing eye and moments after Dragons emerge from within and fall to earth !

Im surprised you didn't go nuts about Barthandelus, the monster Fal'cie posing as a human Pope like figure with an Owl as a pet. I thought his spiel toward the end of the game was incredible the ammount of times I watched it had me imagining him as a ageing drunk U.S ex fratboy the way he sways around in his speech about how much he kicks ass.
Final Fantasy XIII English HD - Barthandelus II - YouTube
watch until 5 minutes in to get the cool speech, it kicks ass i promise
Theres heaps of other cool symbolism in the game to though. Theres the pulsework soldiers who are designed after mayans(I thought).

then theres the twin monsters Enlil and Enki supposed annunaki gods of ancient Babylon, though they appear as pissweak forest guardians in the game

then theres The south american shaman priestess, the greek priestess, the boy from space who I think perfectly fits the description and temperment of "human" "aliens" like you find on the ashtar command network. The hero girl who looks like a Templar. The Eidolons modelled after gods and demons is obvious but none the less awesome. The Fal'cie were all pretty cool too from the first one Anima to the final Orphan I thought the entire game was brilliantly designed as a commentary on human nature and subversive orginisation not to mention fantastically enjoyable. Hard to believe I clocked 100 hours to complete it and yet I haven't even driven that long to gain my licence... Long live Pulse! Long live the maker! Long live semi accurate pseudo historical fictionalisations!:D:D:D

This is one of the most sensible remarks I have ever heard of in this forum. The Moon is artificial and I think that Mercury itself could be artificial too.

Cocoon is not a moon.
Humans are not the "slaves" of fal'cie and the fal'cie are not aliens. "The maker" created humans and fal'cie. The fal'cie, one in particular, is looking to have "the maker" return and essentially "reset" existence to what it was in the beginning for fal'cie and humans.
To me, the fal'cie are more like the emobiment of the elements; nature spirits.
The reason the moon is 'cracked' is because only a few hundred years prior a monster called Ragnarok was summoned to destroy Cocoon and kill Orphan but the fortitude of the moon was too great and it was only cracked rather than destroyed.
This is part of a cycle, the fal'cie are trying to summon ragnarok yet again.
Chew on that for a while.
barthandelous/orphan think they are actually doing a good thing for humanity and the fal'cie by summoning the maker. Also, take a look at the symbolism contained in orphan (fal'cie), it is very significant in this context. As someone who has played well over 30 jrpg's in his time, I can say that this sort of "conspiracy story line" that is in ff13 is nothing new. Go take a look at xenogears or ff7.
ff13 is a fantastic game, I recently finished the story line and am currently working on finishing the titan trials. You played it yet??
Also, you guys should check out season 2 of fullmetal alchemist...very close to reality if you ask me. And, the series "blood the last vampire" actually has some folks from the rothschild family in it! ;)
