Yeah, I've heard about that... They even seem to have prepared the bins already with a hole on the bottom side on the front. :( I don't have it in my bin yet though. *crosses fingers*

Yeah i heard about that a while back now, and from what i gather it (the chip) is for when the bin is placed on the back on the bin wagon, the bin then gets weighed, then 'they' know how much to charge you for the amount of rubbish that was in the bin...Another Tax

Well - how about taking care of your own rubbish... being conscious about what you buy means you are conscious about what you throw away.

Personally if I where over there I would tell the council to stick their bins up their puckered arses and take care of my own rubbish.

My objective is to buy sustainably and to spread the word to buy sustainably. This means I buy at local grocers and do not buy mass produced products that come in unsustainable packaging. When I go to the market I bring my own containers and use re-usable bags to carry my shopping.

I doubt I produce more than 2kg's of waste each month.

get a brakedown of your council tax 'bill'. deduct the amount for dustbin men service. take your rubbish to local tip.

if your paying for a service and its not being delivered by the public/civil servants. then dont pay it.

Yip they've had these chips on the bins where I live for some time now. 3-4 years.
