Hi, my mate is looking for a good laptop between £500 and £600, can anyone here recommend a shop online or a good place in Wolverhampton or Birmingham (if you're local).
I'm looking for best value for money here, he wants to produce music, access the internet and play second life and a few other games to basically.

well ... a good laptop will cost good money...
If its for music then it depends how in depth he will go into it.... there is no limit for the power a music PC needs...
really you want to go for as much RAM and as good CPU as you can get....
You have Laptops like Acer which are a great price and also ASUS do some nice laptops at a good price which is what I have....
you want to go for a duel core really (Intel (not Celeron) are faster than AMD at the moment) with at least 1G of ram... 2G would be better...
If you ask me I would save and get the £600 one as they update so quick you always got to try and get the top one you can afford.
http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk/ << they come with in built webcam which is handy.... and free delivery if I remember right... if he gets it just tell him to uninstall the Asus update as those things end up messing you up as the bios update might conflict with other driver updates and so on.... not really worth it.

yeah my bro is a Apple fan.... I use PC because its cheeper to upgrade and so on.. but they are nice computers...

I would like to have a PC as a stationary computer and a Mac as a laptop. Yes, it costs a lot to upgrade OS X, probably more than Windows.
