Hello to all Britons,

How are things going over there with those RIDICULOUS road tax boxes they are trying to make you put in your cars? Is the general population going nuts over it, or are they just sleepwalking? Because I think it's totally and completely fucked.

Ha Ha ... You are SO right. But we for once we meek and accepting Brits are not taking this one lying down and the biggest laugh is that the means with which we are fighting it was given to us by 10 Downing Street itself.

I am not sure how it came into existence but maybe a Goverment minion was given a brief to come up with something that would make it look like the Goverment was listening to it's subject's grievances. Hence the creation of a 10 Downing Street sponsored website that invites users to create a petition o any subject they feel unhappy with.

Well the Black Box idea has certainly caught Britains imagination and in 3 months more than 1.5 MILLION people have signed this on the site link

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax (http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax)

It has been reported in newspapers that goverment employees have been fired from their jobs who have been caught registering their signature on this site at their workstations !!

However the most frightening thing is that the latest Goverment response has been that this will make NO DIFFERENCE and that trials will still go ahead! These people will never realise that they are elected officials there to serve the community. Well the community has decided that this idea sucks and also has no confidence that the surveillance capabilities of this Black Box system will not be abused. Who would

The best solution would simply be for everyone to simply refuse to buy a car with this device installed. The power is truly with the people if we have the balls to do it.

Peace and Love :D

gosh i really feel for you britons. France is going that way too. Eventually the US will have it as well. Already they have the "EZ-PASS" road toll rfid devices, and tolls are higher in many places for people who want to pay CASH. The nerve! charging more for peeps who want to use real money! That's backwards, if you consider the credit card model. Of course, they're not looking to make money, they're looking for control. They boast that an EZ PASS can be read anywhere in New York City by ubiquitous beacons.

Also, while on the topic of payment, have you noticed in the US lately that when you buy anything with a credit card you don't even have to sign for it anymore. One step closer to electronic cash and the chip. The other one that really pisses me off too is when you buy something and the sheep-cashier says "zip-code?" or "phone number?", not even asking "please can i have your.." anymore, just a droid like question assuming you will give it out. I always make one up or say "Er, No, can I have yours?".

The one that really took the biscuit was during my last trip to England when I was told I could not use my US Visa card since they only accept Visa with the chip-n-pin. Wasn't the idea behind Visa you could use it ANYWHERE? also in Japan, they use their cell phones to buy things by swiping in them in front of a scanner. 1984 or what.

we have the same thing in Australia. we even have one road in Sydney that you can't get on without your rfid gizmo. Of course this road just happens to be the most useful road in Sydney:mad:
