Why do people go to the netherlands to do mushrooms? Can't they get them close by?

I'm sure it's more dangerous to ban them as people can poison themselves very easily if they don't know what they are looking for...At least when you buy them you know it's the right kind (hopefully).

It's all about painting an evil image of them.

There is a spiritual revolution going on!

They open your minds up.

there has been talk about it for some months now, i see they finally pushed it.
they illegalized the mushrooms because of some recent incidents...
tourists that visit amsterdam, eat mushroom and jump through the window of their hotelroom and stuff.

i don't eat mushrooms anymore so i'm not personally affected by this cruel action of the government:p

Psilocybe Mushroom FAQ:

http://************************.org/viewtopic.php?t=110

Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 – April 3, 2000) was a writer, philosopher, and ethnobotanist. He is noted for his many speculations on the use of psychedelic, plant-based hallucinogens, and subjects ranging from shamanism, the development of human consciousness, and the novelty theory.

An eloquent perspective by Terence McKenna on the idea of a spiritual path for all and an impending transformation of the human world. In all his singularly lucid, prosaic style, McKenna presents profoundly compelling ideas that challenge our beliefs and encourage our participation in the creation of a new social reality. He champions the individual’s freedom of choice in deciding one’s own sexual and spiritual development and techniques. He highlights the role of hallucinogenic plants in shamanic societies and their impact on the evolution of human cultures. See why this cyber-techno-shaman is drawing freethinking crowds wherever he speaks and find out what role you may play in the unfolding of our “post-historical future” as we approach a major “concresence” in human history.

Excellent documentary about the Amazonian Shamans and their use of the sacred Ayahuasca vine to communicate with the Spirits of the Forest. Includes footage of peaceful drug-prohibition protests, an interview with Terence Mckenna, criticism of the so called "war on drugs" (essentially a form of cultural genocide), the corruption within large oil companies and governments, many civil rights issues, etc.

This video was shot in April 2004 as a demo to gain interest and sponsorship while writing the book, Astrotheology & Shamanism. Now the video is online for free viewing. Please note that this video was shot on shoestring budget and was not intended to be released online; the quality is a bit lacking but information makes up for that.

The Pharmacratic Inquisition

Thousands of years ago, in the pre monarchic era, psychedelic/entheogenic substances where publicly known world wide and were respected for their ability to bring forth the divine, Yahweh, God, The Great Spirit, etc., by the many cultures who used them. Often the entire tribe or community would partake in the entheogenic rites. These rites were often used in initiation into adulthood, for healing, to help guide the community in the decision process, and to bring the direct religious experience to anyone seeking it, that might take these psychedelic sacraments properly.

In the pre literate world, the knowledge of psychedelic plant sacraments, as well as fertility rites and astronomical knowledge surrounding the sun, stars, and zodiac, known as astrotheology, were anthropomorphized into human/god like beings so their stories and practices could be passed down for generations. Weather changes over millenniums caused environmental changes that altered the available foods and plant sacraments available in the local vicinity. If a tribe lost its shamanic El-der (El - God), all of the tribe's knowledge of their plant sacraments as well as astronomical knowledge would be lost......

With some cannabis sauce perhaps??

Cooking with Cannabis

Rather than tell you how to make a cake or cookies with cannabis (go look up the recipe!), this section is dedicated to the theory of how to use cannabis successfully in any recipe that requires butter, fats or oils.

Important points to remember when cooking with cannabis are that you need to ensure an even spread of cannabis throughout the chosen dish and that the meal or item produced should not be too heavy. If you have a full stomach then the cannabis constituents will take longer to enter the bloodstream - this is not to say that eating raw hash is better. By making for instance biscuits your stomach will produce bile when you eat, which will assist in the digestion of THC. Another point is to avoid using recipes with excessive sugar as this may slow down or dilute the effects.

The basic principal in cooking with cannabis is to first extract the THC into a fat, for example butter or an oil. You do this basically by adding the cannabis to hot oil and allowing it to dissolve, then you add the oil/cannabis mix to the food you're preparing.

If you live in or near an Asian community, you can do even better by using ghee (clarified butter) which is widely used in Asian cookery. Because ghee has been clarified, had all the impurities taken out, it tends to become very hot when liquefied, so be very careful when melting it!

Powder the cannabis, the pieces should be as small as possible. Next, weigh your prepared cannabis and note how much there is. A ratio of 1 ounce (28 g) to 1 lb (450-500 g) of ghee is recommended. Working with this ratio a recipe requiring 125 g would contain about 7 g (1/4 ounce) of cannabis. Measure out the correct amount of ghee for your supply of cannabis and begin to heat. Once the ghee has melted turn down the heat so that the oil is not burning or cooling off.. Sprinkle in your crumbled cannabis and stir gently. It is up to you how long you heat the mixture, stirring occasionally, to ensure the THC fully dissolves, but around an hour is a good guide. When your ghee is cooked, place a clean cloth in a sieve and drain the (very hot!) mixture into a pan or bowl and leave to cool.

If you're using herbal cannabis you may find that a lot of cannabis enriched ghee remains on the leaf matter. Most of this can be recouped by placing the plant matter and cloth in a pan. Cover them with clean water and bring to the boil, then simmer for 20 minutes. Carefully retrieve the (hot) cloth and use it to reline the sieve. Put the sieve over a second bowl and strain the leaf/ghee/water mixture through it. The THC rich ghee will form a suspension in the water and will flow through the sieve into the bowl. Finish by rinsing the sieve with some boiling water. Put the bowl aside and allow to cool for a few hours, as it does so the oil comes out of suspension gathers at the surface and solidifies near the edge., allowing you to pour off the water. This operation can recover up to a 1/3 of your ghee so it is well worth going to the trouble.

The ghee, or sacred ghee as the Hindus call it, can now be used in any recipe calling for marg or butter - biscuits and cakes are a favourite.

Getting the strength right is the difficult part, since this depends on the strength of the cannabis you're using as well as simply the amount, thanks to prohibition there's no way of knowing how strong it is without "sucking and seeing". UKCIA advises that you make a large number of cakes or biscuits - say make 10 from 2grms (1/16th ounce) for starters and see how you go from there. You can always eat more than one if you think you need it.

I've been reading your thread Darren, and I feel the need to just advise you to hide or get rid of anything you've got stashed...if the cops decided to get any nastier with you and do a raid of your house or something, you could find yourself up on charges. If they did a google search for your name, they may even find your posts on this forum.

I don't trust cops.....if they don't like you they could even get you on trumped up charges by stashing something on your property then charging you with possession.

I'm quite concerned for you, so please just be VERY careful not to provoke them any further won't you :o

Yeah, I've considered this. It's the only way they will get anything on me, by false methods. They are being watched now themselves by people around here and everyone knows they are out for me now, so this is a big weapon on my side. They know if they make a move against me I am going to scream blue murder and more harassment. They may know I post on this forum already, considering the amount of trolling I've had on my police threads. Thanks for your concern LL, your words are wise;)

Dutch Court Rejects Appeal On 'Magic Mushroom' Ban

http://www.redorbit.com/news/international/1670601/dutch_court_rejects_appeal_on_magic_mushroom_ban/

An court in The Hague ruled against an appeal on Tuesday by Dutch suppliers of "magic mushrooms."

Owners of so-called "smart shops" where the hallucinogenic fungi had been sold had sought to overturn a December 1st government ban on the mushrooms.

The ban, approved by lawmakers, made it illegal to cultivate or sell 186 species of mushrooms. Dried mushrooms have been illegal in the country for many years.

"The magic mushroom ban is not unjust," the court said in its ruling.

"The effect of the ruling is that the magic mushroom ban, effective from December 1, 2008, remains in place."

Health Minister Ab Klink had initially introduced the ban, believing consumption of the mushrooms could "lead to unpredictable and risky behavior".

Health Minister Ab Klink had initially introduced the ban, believing consumption of the mushrooms could "lead to unpredictable and risky behavior".

The government’s action followed the death in 2007 of a French teen that had consumed magic mushrooms shortly before jumping to her death from an Amsterdam bridge. The tragedy reignited a national debate over the mushrooms, which also grow naturally in the wild.

"We are deeply disappointed," said Paul van Oyen, a spokesman for the magic mushroom vendors' association VLOS, during an interview with AFP.

"The court is allowing the minister to get away with lies."

VLOS argues there is no proof that magic mushrooms are dangerous, and is seeking compensation for the loss of revenue.

Prior to the ban, the Netherlands had six magic mushroom growers, 180 smart shops, some 300 hundred employees in an industry with an annual turnover of $20-$30 million, according to VLOS figures.

Officials say that foreign tourists are responsible for 90 percent of the 1.5 -2 million doses of mushrooms purchased every year in the Netherlands.

"We will not pursue this in the courts," said Van Oyen.

"It is too expensive. We will retire to lick our wounds."

The ban on magic mushrooms is seen as part of the Dutch’s government’s tightening stance on the use of recreational drugs. The traditionally liberal nation has also been closing some cannabis-vending coffee shops.
