I have been told that in S.Africa the Law states that if somebody's need is greater than your need then they are entitled to take your property from you. If you bought a house say in S.Africa and you went away on holiday then came back and found that your house had been taken over by strangers then there would be nothing you could do about it and you would have to either share your house with these stranger or leave... but...the Law states that the rightfull owner still has to pay the mortgage! This applies to all sorts of property not just houses, and apparently this is called "Equality". Can anyone tell me if this is really true? (any South Africans here?)

i've never heard of it happening, personally i doubt that's a law, what is law is that if you have a piece of land and people start squatting on it, you can't just remove them, you need to apply for a court inderdict to have them removed, sometimes it's in the favour of the land owner, sometimes not, but they can't just invade your house.
south africa really is a lot more normal than you guys think, really.
