This trend has been going on since the Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been around, but what gets me that a good horror is a great psychological tale.
I was watching Saw 3 the other night, and the amount of gore was breath-taking. I have heard they are doing a new film of this story.

The story for the film was good, but the gore was just OTT.
If that guy died in the end, how can they make a sequeal.

I can't watch horrors because of this, it's just plain sick in my view:(

I used to watch all horrors and enjoy them. So can understand why people like it. But for many years not watched I don't enjoy it no more. Makes me wonder how they do those special effects. Is some of it real?

I think a lot of it is desensitisation. When I was a big film buff I would want more more more blood! What I've been surprised about though is that there are some shocking films yet they are only rated 15...5-10 years ago these would be 18's easily...Not that I am very bothered, I think it's mostly a product of what happens when film buff grow up and become directors themselves and make the films they want to see...To be honest, my films would top all these films for gore, I would have people being caught in glass presses and seeing them get crushed through the glass, people would be killed by voodoo dolls and seeing themselves being disembowelled with an invisible knife etc...

I think it’s a case of a society causing stress and then the people acting on their own accord to create more stress…We could theorise all day how the illuminati are trying to destroy us through film but I believe what David Icke says when we are the policeman of our own herd.

I prefer old horror films including Hammers. You don't need all that blood and gore to make a really good film. Modern horror films lack both story and class, they make up for it by using ugly scenes with graphics and horrible deaths, which is sick. They appeal to a certain moron type.

Well said spacegurl, I like the old ones from Universal and Hammer Horror. also I do like a proper frightening storyline in it.
The only new ones which are great is the Hellraiser 1 to 4 only and Saw, it will be better without the gore and concentrating on the story more.

I do like horror movies but I do think
Some of the gore in them is just way OTT.
Especially the movie HOSTEL.
I found that to be completely gratuitous -
There was hardly any plot and I thought
They just thought of a scenario to include as much
Gore as possible.
The scariest movies of all time for me are
The Shining, Halloween (original) and the Blair Witch Project.
Because of the suspense, not because of the gore.
Suspense is what makes a good horror
And having things left to the imagination is far more frightening
(as in Blair Witch).

It's obvious though that the reason these films are so OTT
With the gore factor is because that's what people want to see
If they're a horror genre fan.
It's like a drug, you need more and more to get 'scared'.
But I don't think those movies are scary, they're just gross.
Also the film producers are trying to 'show off' with special effects.

For me I can put up with most 'gorey' movies
But it's beatings that I can't stand watching.
I watched a movie called Green Streets the other night
Which is about organised football hooliganism
A guy gets beaten to death in it
And I was almost sick - just couldn't watch it.
Same with the Passion of Christ during the scourging scenes.
Another movie I watched the other day was
Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis.
It was set in Nigeria during a civil war
And it portrayed some of the sickening things that
People can do to each other in the name of politics/religion/war.
Some of the scenes were absolutely horrifying
Particularly what happened to one young tribeswoman
Who was caught by the rebel army.
What is scary about it isn't that there is a serial killer on the loose
Wearing a mask and carrying a knife
But that real people DO actually do those things to each other.

yer i am same as you i used to like abit of gore, especially if theres a story line that can make you feel like the character about to get beaten/ shot etc deserves it but nowadays i cant even watch heros without thinking theres no need for that, gratuitous violence, desensitization.

..........

Hellraiser fims rules Cliver Barker writes some books. I could watch anything at one time, but feel I've seen enough. watched a long snuff video, from different parts of the world shocking and disturbing indeed. And Horror films how do we know some of the deaths aren't real?

It's definitely on-topic
Even if tiswas is a distractor/timewaster.
Films are very important tools
To give out any message you may want to promote
Or to desensitive people to gore for example.

DONDAZ, YOU DO NOT OWN THIS FORUM OK!
I know about the NWO, and Icke's work.
But to at least I do not troll other people's threads like you do, and I can post a thread on anything I like. Which is the sole purpose of the forum.
As phoebe and eternal pointed out, this gore is a reality and you have to know your enemy to defeat them. Thank you Phoebe, I know you too are a dondaz target too.

When you see real death on film that can put you off watching horror. There are many none violent peaceful people who watch horror.

On the other hand there may be more violent types attracted to much of the blood and gore, could the PTB use this against us.

this here is more horrifying than fake gore on movies.. because it's real unfortunately.

Ghosts of Rwanda - YouTube

(12 parts - you need to watch all of it)

"hollywood gore" is nothing but a joke these days. just look at tarantino and his kill bill series, which i like very much i must say and i love tarantino.

finally, why would someone watch something that they don't like to watch?

you don't watch child porn now, do you?

Even my 3 year old was scared in Thomas (the train) and
Happy Feet (when the walrus chases them) - these parts
even made her scared. We were driving through town
and she said 'Where is the Dragon (Godzilla)?' I told my
husband don't let her watch and he said no it's not scary?!

I think they want to get kiddies used to being scared and
in fear.

The most plausible reason for this IMHO is that 'Hollywood' is running out of ideas, and now they are relying on 'shock' type films to pick up the slack of any actual substance in this genre of film.

I highly recommend seeing 'Men Behind The Sun' for those who have not saw it yet though. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093170/

TBH before I was enlightened,I was a moderator at several of the big 'gore web sites',there is nothing that can shock me anymore.I have saw so much 'real' gore that I cant even watch a horror/slasher film anymore, they just dont do anything for me.

Dont get me wrong I am totally for free speech and all of that, but I really think those types of websites should be shut down.

Maybe I will create a thread sometime here about the 'gore' community,I dont want to hijack this thread.

Sure thats possible, but the exploitation of the deaths peoples loved ones is just repulsive to me anymore.

Unfortunately though I have developed an extreme hatred for this community, sorry but the kill em with kindness philosophy has never bode well for me.

Of course that is a blanket statement, alot of my friends are still into this type of crap.

Yes, do that...I'm not sure if this would be classified as big gore but I used to frequent rotten.com and some of that was pretty sick...I guess now it will all be on film since back then it was only pictures (56K modem)...

I can of bought into the counter culture of 'hey I'm a fucked up piece of shit' which was being sold back then by Slim Shady, Limp Bizcit and all that metal crap. I'd say it was about 60% conditioning and 40% apathy. People show me their fucked up films on their phones and I just think, been there, done that they are not really enjoying that shit...
