In the Siva Sutras by (or revealed to) Vasugupta years ago there is a verse which says that due to the yogi's realization of his nature as pure consciousness, he can shape his reality however he pleases.
Those sutras are from around the 8th century I think, and coming from an ancient tradition of Shaivism already.
