Mods, you can delete this thread... if and when I get an answer to my question. To UK members... is "dame" only to be used in reference to older women i.e. is it insulting or wrong to use this word to refer to a girl who is like 20?

I think in the US... we use dame to refer to adult women of any age.

Quoting:

Personally I don't find Christ's sacrifice and free gift to us as a jot and tittle , so I will not stand by as people deny the power of His Blood and sacrifice.

When you say, "I wont stand by..." what does that mean? What does that actually look like if you will?

stand by = be a silent spectator

OK, thanks. If I may if there are some people who deny the power of His blood and resurection isn't that between them and God? My question is are you policing others? I'm asking a real question. What aspect of it bothers you?

From my own perspective, I would associate the word with an older woman & it's also not a word we use much in the UK. However, I'd be surprised if anyone would take offence to it no matter what age they were. Why do you ask, has someone claimed you have insulted them by calling them 'dame'?

No... I'm writing a song about a girl from London... and this word just fits so well into the chorus... but, she's pretty young... so you know... when I hear dame and think of England... I think of Dame Judi Dench. hehe.

Lilly... but in the US... isn't dame, sort of a sexiest term... like broad?

It's about 1/2 as sexist as broad. It least in the Mid-West.

Pre-emptive strike against Iran is imminent !!!

IRAN STRIKE STILL COMING, GETTING CLOSE

The evidence of US intent to launch massive air strikes against Iran is reaching a crescendo and so is the inflamed rhetoric from administration leaders and media mouthpieces as Iran is accused again and again of exaggerated "murderous" support for the insurgency in Iraq. Leaks from military sources are abundant telling of Navy ships being loaded with a higher than normal quantities of aerial weapons: smart bombs, cruise missiles, and air to air missiles. They are preparing for something big. Sarah Baxter of the UK Times online quoted Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center as saying, "The Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive air strikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians' military capability in three days... ' US military planners were not preparing for 'pinprick strikes' against Iran's nuclear facilities. 'They're about taking out the entire Iranian military.'"

Right before the strike will come the justification. There will be an major act of terrorism in the USA any day now. It is all about the oil.

It seems so, synergy777, yes......... > Blue Sapphire..http://crystal-cure.com/pics/sapphire2.jpg(Mine Rough)

Sapphire Gemstone meaning (http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:9bNEh4Vyu14J:crystal-cure.com/sapphire-gem.html+sappire+means&hl=nl&ct=clnk&cd=3&gl=nl)A sapphire means blue in Greek. The blue goes from dark blue almost black to pale blue. The finest blue sapphires are a strong blue. The star sapphire is very valued. Sapphires of colors other than blue are always referred to with the color. There are pink sapphires, yellow sapphires, violet sapphires, green sapphires and clear sapphires. Today most sapphires are mined in Australia.

It is said a necklace of sapphires will cure a sore throat.

The sapphire was called the "Stone of Destiny". Sapphires contribute to mental clarity and perception. They can promote financial rewards.

The sapphire is the symbol of heaven and joyful devotion to God.

Sapphire is associated with Aquarius, Virgo, Libra and Capricorn. It is the birthstone of September and has been the birthstone of April. Sapphire is the symbol of Saturn (dark blue) and Venus (light blue).

Dame's not a word we use here except when someone's had the title given by royalty, I think its the female equivalent of a knighthood? Not sure.. don't keep up with all that bollocks!

It's not a word you would use on a loved one or to impress anyone. And it's usually a title given to ladies well over 50!
