Hi folks, would love to hear form anybody with any tips for my problem.

A couple of years ago following a fall down several stairs I was diagnosed with Chronic disc degeneration with evidence of disc prolapse on the right side of L4/L5. that started to explain the re occuring sciatic pain ive had since I can remeber! After that fall it ook 18 months to get anywere near right and It took two Cortisone injections into the spine to get upright for anytime.

The last year has been ok and since I changed my job ive been fine but now I can feel a flare up coming and today I was stopped in my tracks by the pain in my lower back and right leg, its so painfull it can lead to depression and ive had such agood few months!!

I used to take Diclofenac at the first sign of a flare up but Im not touching the stuff ever again becasue last time I was on it for a long time and the side effects are horrible!!

Anyway, my initial qustion is does anybody know of a natural alternative to diclofenac or a natrual anti inflametary.

Many thanks

P.S

I smoke weed and it helps but since my new job involves driving and thats a no no for me at work time!

You could try some yoga positions.

Like the cobra, spinal rocking, downward dog, the cat etc etc etc.

Do them slowly and hold the positions for a length of time.

There's plenty of youtube videos on how to go about them....

Hope it heals up...:)

Hi you guys, you have my fullest sympathy. (also a sufferer)

My husband says not enough weed and sex.

I fell 37 years ago and I still have problems that no pain pill will help. Diclofenac helps to a certain extent and I have never liked cortisone. Any ways I don't do Pharma meds anymore since I researched the subject a year ago.

8 years ago I went to an unofficial osteopath (not recognised here in SA) and the treatment helped for 5 years. Now its back but unfortunately he has left the country.

Cold and hot back packs help to some extent. Last week I tried the stretching exercises and found relief but it only helped by the next day.

I am busy looking into using more of the herbs and spices. Perhaps you could try and let us know if it helps. At the moment I am only using cinnamon and honey for the arthritis and it works.

Sorry at the moment I cant post links or even do smilies. Our satelite connection or seacom, or whatever is down.

If I were you I would go to a nice spa and have a massage therapist do some work on you (if you have health insurance this should be covered). They can also recommend an anti-inflammatory.

Or maybe go to a medical clinic and get a sonic massage.

I do know that in some cases, stretching is required, where in other cases it is the opposite (you are supposed to compress and "re-lock" everything and avoid stretching the area). It's tricky stuff.

I hope you find relief - that doesn't sound fun at all.
