how are we NOT gods and goddesses? i mean, we create things. we invent things. we destroy things. we laugh, we cry, we complain. we have pride. we get jealous. we all have the ability to heal, in very unique ways.

i try to avoid quoting the bible, but even Jesus says "know ye not that ye are gods?"

must we fart and create a new universe to make this more true?

In this respect, I follow the Shinto Way.

There's demigods, god'spawn, River Gods, Animal Gods... You just gotta recognize what is sacred and what is not.

The Zen way sez: Nothing Sacred. Nothing Profane.

It depends on how you define a "god/goddess", and if you differentiate between capital G God, and lower case g god.

If you assume there is a difference, then it could very well be we could define ourselves as lower case g gods/goddesses, as there are limitations to our creative abilities that could only be surpassed by the capital G God. We could be the children of God, and in fact I believe such a thing.

Although if you consider us to be capital G Gods/Goddesses, that wouldnt make much sense based on our current abilities. As it is now, we can manipulate and duplicate what is already known to us, which I guess could be considered a lesser form of creation. This, however, is limited, and bounded by what already exists.

A capital G God/Goddess, would not be restricted to manipulating what already exists; they would be able to create something from absolutely nothing. As it stands, we cannot do this.

To test this, all you must do is try and imagine something in which you have no reference point to correlate with. For instance, try to imagine what the unique color of ultra violet light is, without incorporating any standard colors into it. Such a thing is impossible, because we have no reference point for what ultra violet light might look like as a stand alone color, and to be able to do so, we would need to be able to create something from absolutely nothing.

"Children of God", I think is an apt way to define all sentient/conscious beings. Using "God" as a way to define sentient/conscious beings, I think is nothing more than pure ignorance and/or hubris at work.

Beautiful :D

You could call what we are gods and goddesses in the plural, engendered and a small "g". It is quite more elegant then being called a body that's for sure :D
