Has anyone reading this had their fillings removed.As Im thinking of getting my taken out as soon as possible.Just wondering what the procedure is and what precautions are used to prevent mercury inhilation during removal.
I wanted to check so as I can make an informed choice as Im concerned that alot of dentists out there may not have a clue.

I'm afraid I don't have any info on this, but it's something I would also like to get done eventually, but I know it costs a lot, especially in the UK.
Sean (Webmaster) may be able to assist with info though, as he's in the process of getting his done....

i would be interested to hear how sean gets on i have loads of mercury fillings i had about 16 at one time as a teenager thats half my teeth :eek:
was offered gold at one point but turned it down :o as i liked silver wtf kids eh imagine the resonation of all that gold as compared to the mercury . I' ll keep an eye on this thread :D
I was planning on getting this done, but think I'm still in shock at the cost of it! :eek: Strangely expensive I think. Might wait till sometime next year to get it done....

Fuck I thought it was the other way around. I've just had my gold fillings replaced with amalgam ones. :eek:

the amalgam are supposed to be mercury free so dont worry be happy :D
those are the white ones right that match up tooth colour so it's all good :D

Amalgam are the mercury ones I think. Not sure what the white ones contain but I know they're not supposed to last as long, and the dentist usually recommends amalgam....

ok i googled amalgam and saw a link to amalgam and mercury free fillings so presumed , it doesnt do to presume just sume insted :D

I have an NHS dentist who will only use white fillings. She is replacing all my grey fillings and although I do have to pay, I think the result both from a healthy and visual point of view will be well worth it.

Yes I go to one of these mercury free dentists also..only does white fillings. I just went today infact. Luckily I don't need any fillings taken out because I have never had any. Today I found out that I have eight cavities though. Plus they want to pull my wisdom teeth. They also said I grind my teeth. They are thinking about giving me a sleep aide for that. In the day time its become habit to grit my teeth. :eek:
Can you tell us what precautions they use removing the mercury ones ? and some idea of the price per filling ? i read about a woman who suffered from depression all her adult life and once she had her mercury fillings removed she never did again :D

I was not given nor did I ask about any precautions. Cost was around £55 per filling. Result- absolutely georgous.
