King Arthur is a fabled Brython leader and a prominent figure in Britain's legendary history. A real individual may have been the inspiration of the legend, but later stories of Arthur are almost entirely fictional. In these he appears as the ideal of kingship both in war and peace; even in modern times he has been ranked as one of the 100 Greatest Britons of all time. Over time, the stories of King Arthur have captured such widespread interest that he is no longer identified as the legendary hero of a single nation. Countless new legends, stories, revisions, books, and films have been produced in Europe and the United States that unabashedly enlarge on and expand the fictional accounts of King Arthur.

The scarce historical background to Arthur is found in the works of Nennius and Gildas and in the Annales Cambriae. The legendary Arthur developed initially through the pseudo-history of Geoffrey of Monmouth and the Welsh collection of anonymous tales known as the Mabinogion. Chrétien de Troyes began the literary tradition of Arthurian romance, which subsequently became, as the Matter of Britain, one of the principal themes of medieval literature. Medieval Arthurian writing reached its conclusion in Thomas Mallory's comprehensive Morte D'Arthur, published in 1485. Modern interest in Arthur was revived by Alfred Tennyson in Idylls of the King, and in the paintings of the Pre-Raphaelites. Key modern reworkings of the Arthurian legends include Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, T.H. White's The Once and Future King and Richard Wagner's opera Parsifal.

The central themes of the Arthurian cycle vary depending on which texts are examined. However, they include the establishment of Arthur as king through the sword in the stone episode, the advice of the wizard Merlin, the establishment of the fellowship of knights known as the Round Table and the associated code of chivalry, the defence of Britain against the Saxons, numerous magical adventures associated with particular knights, notably Kay, Gawain, Lancelot, Percival and Galahad, the enmity of Arthur's half-sister Morgan le Fay, the quest for the Holy Grail, the adultery of Lancelot and Arthur's Queen Guinevere, the final battle with Mordred, and the legend of Arthur's future return. The magical sword Excalibur, the castle Camelot and the Lady of the Lake also play pivotal roles.


The historicity of the King Arthur legend has long been debated by scholars. One school of thought, based on references in the Historia Brittonum and Annales Cambriae, would see Arthur as a shadowy historical figure, a Romano-British leader fighting against the invading Anglo-Saxons sometime in the late 5th to early 6th century. The Historia Brittonum ("History of the Britons"), a 9th century Latin historical compilation attributed to the Welsh cleric Nennius, gives a list of twelve battles fought by Arthur, culminating in the Battle of Mons Badonicus, where he is said to have single-handedly killed 960 men. The 10th century Annales Cambriae ("Welsh Annals"), dates this battle to 516, and also mentions the Battle of Camlann, in which Arthur and Medraut were both killed, dated to 537. Neither text refers to Arthur as a king, although this may not be significant as they often name kings without mentioning their title. The Historia Brittonum calls him dux bellorum or "dux (commander) of battles".[1] The late historian John Morris went so far as to make the putative reign of Arthur at the turn of the 5th century the organising principle of his history of sub-Roman Britain and Ireland, The Age of Arthur. Even so, he found little to say of an historic Arthur, save as an example of the idea of kingship, one among such contemporaries as Vortigern, Cunedda, Hengest and Coel. Morris argues that Arthur's power base would have been in the Celtic areas of Wales, Cornwall and the West Country, or the Brythonic "Old North" which covered modern Northern England and Southern Scotland.[2]

Another school of thought argues that Arthur had no historical existence. Nowell Myres was prompted by the publication of Morris's Age of Arthur to write "no figure on the borderline of history and mythology has wasted more of the historian's time".[3] Gildas' 6th century polemic De Excidio Britanniae ("On the Ruin of Britain"), written within living memory of the Battle of Mons Badonicus, mentions that battle but does not mention Arthur.[4] Some argue that he was originally a half-forgotten Celtic deity that devolved into a personage, citing parallels with the supposed change of the sea-god Lir into King Lear, the Kentish totemic horse-gods Hengest and Horsa, who were historicised by the time of Bede's account and given an important role in the 5th century Anglo-Saxon conquest of eastern Britain, the founder-figure of Caer-fyrddin, Merlin (Welsh Myrddin), or the Norse demigod Sigurd or Siegfried, who was historicised in the Nibelungenlied by associating him with a famous historical 5th century battle between Huns and the Burgundians.[5] Some cite a possible etymology of Arthur's name from Welsh arth, "bear", and propose the Gaulish bear god Artio as a precedent for the legend, although worship of Artio is not attested in Britain.[citation needed]

Historical documents for the period are scarce, so a definitive answer to this question is unlikely. Sites and places have been identified as "Arthurian" since the 12th century,[6] but archaeology can reveal names only through inscriptions. The so-called "Arthur stone" discovered in 1998 in securely dated 6th century contexts among the ruins at Tintagel Castle in Cornwall, a secular, high status settlement of Sub-Roman Britain, created a brief stir.[7] There is no other archaeological evidence for Arthur.

A number of identifiable historical figures have been suggested as the historical basis for Arthur, ranging from Lucius Artorius Castus, a Roman officer who served in Britain in the 2nd century; Roman usurper emperors like Magnus Maximus; and sub-Roman British rulers like Riothamus, Ambrosius Aurelianus,[5] Owain Ddantgwyn[6] and Athrwys ap Meurig.[6]

The origin of the name Arthur is itself a matter of debate. Some suggest it is derived from the Latin family name Artorius, meaning "ploughman" (the variant "Arturius" is known from inscriptions).[citation needed] Others propose a derivation from Welsh arth (earlier art), meaning "bear", suggesting art-ur, "bear-man", is the original form. Arthur's name appears as Arturus in early Latin Arthurian texts, never as Artorius, although it is possible that Vulgar Latin forms of Artorius, pronounced in Celtic languages, could have yielded both Arthur and Arturus.[citation needed]

Toby D. Griffen of Southern Illinois University links the name Arthur to Arcturus, the brightest star in the constellation Boötes, near Ursa Major or the Great Bear. The Classical Latin Arcturus would have become Arturus in Vulgar Latin, and its brightness and position in the sky led people to regard it as the "guardian of the bear" and the "leader" of the other stars in Boötes. Griffin suggests that "Arthur" was not a personal name, but a nom de guerre or an epithet borne by the man who led the Britons against the Saxons, which both Latin and Brythonic-speakers would associate with leadership and bear-like ferocity.[8] A variant of the nom de guerre theory has the name combining the Welsh and Latin words for "bear", art and ursus.[9] The name Arthur and its variants were used as personal names by at least four leaders who lived after the traditional dates of Arthur’s battles, suggesting to Griffen and others that it only began to be used as a personal name after "the" Arthur made it famous.


Literary traditions
The historical sources for Arthur have been discussed above. The creator of the familiar literary persona of Arthur was Geoffrey of Monmouth, with his pseudohistorical Historia Regum Britanniae ("History of the Kings of Britain"), written in the 1130s. All the textual sources for Arthur are divided into those that preceded Geoffrey and those that followed him, and could not avoid his influence.


Pre-Galfridian traditions
The earliest literary references to Arthur are found in Welsh poetry. He is mentioned briefly in the late 6th century Welsh poem cycle The Gododdin, attributed to the poet Aneirin. In one verse, the bravery of one of the warriors is described, "though he was not Arthur".[10] The poems are known only from a manuscript of the 13th century, so it is impossible to determine whether this passage is original or a later interpolation. Several poems attributed to Taliesin, a poet said to have lived in the 6th century, refer to Arthur, including The Chair of the Sovereign, which refers to "Arthur the Blessed",[11] The Treasures of Annwn, which recounts an expedition of Arthur to the Otherworld,[12] and Journey to Deganwy, which contains the passage, "as at the battle of Badon, with Arthur, chief holder of feasts, his tall blades red from the battle all men remember".[citation needed]

Arthur appears in a number of well known vitae ("Lives") of 6th century saints, most of them written at the monastery of Llancarfan in the 12th century. In the Life of Saint Illtud, apparently written around 1140, Arthur is said to be a cousin of that churchman. According to the Life of Saint Gildas, written in the 11th century by Caradoc of Llancarfan, Arthur killed Gildas' brother Hueil, a pirate on the Isle of Man. In the Life of Saint Cadoc, written around 1100 by Lifris of Llancarfan, the saint gives protection to a man who killed three of Arthur's soldiers, and Arthur demands a herd of cattle as wergeld for his men. Cadoc delivers them as demanded, but when Arthur takes possession of the animals, they transform into bundles of ferns. Similar incidents are described in the late medieval biographies of Carannog, Padern, Goeznovius, and Efflam.

An early Welsh poem found in the Black Book of Carmarthen, Pa gur yv y porthaur? ("What man is the gatekeeper?"), takes the form of a dialogue between Arthur and the gatekeeper of a castle he wishes to enter, in which Arthur recounts the deeds of his men, notably Cai and Bedwyr. The 10th century Welsh prose tale Culhwch and Olwen, included in the modern Mabinogion collection, includes a list of more than 200 of Arthur's men, Cai and Bedwyr included, and tells of Arthur helping his kinsman Culhwch win the hand of Olwen, daughter of Ysbaddaden the giant, by completing a series of apparently impossible tasks, including the hunt for the great boar Twrch Trwyth. The Historia Brittonum mentions Arthur hunting a boar named Troynt. This may be related to a post-Galfridian tradition of Arthur as leader of the Wild Hunt, first mentioned in the 13th century by Gervase of Tilbury.[13]

The Welsh Triads contain a number of traditions of Arthur. Many are derived from Geoffrey of Monmouth and later European traditions (see below), but some are independent of these and may refer to pre-existing Welsh traditions. His court is placed at Celliwig in Cornwall, identified with Callington by the Cornish antiquarians, but Rachel Bromwich, latest editor and translator of the The Welsh Triads, identifies it with Kelly Rounds, a hill fort in the parish of Egloshayle.[14]

Bewnans Ke, a play in Middle Cornish held by the National Library of Wales, is a recent Arthurian discovery.


Geoffrey of Monmouth
The first narrative account of Arthur's reign is found in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th century Latin work Historia Regum Britanniae ("History of the Kings of Britain"), an imaginative and fanciful account of British kings from the legendary Trojan exile Brutus to the 7th century Welsh prince Cadwallader. Geoffrey places Arthur in the same post-Roman period as the Historia Brittonum and Annales Cambriae. He introduces Arthur's father, Uther Pendragon, and his magician advisor Merlin, and the story of Arthur's conception, in which Uther, disguised as his enemy Gorlois by Merlin's magic, fathers Arthur on Gorlois' wife Igerna at Tintagel. On Uther's death, the fifteen-year-old Arthur succeeds him as king and fights a series of battles, similar to those in the Historia Brittonum, culminating in the Battle of Bath, and then defeats the Picts and Scots, conquers Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Gaul, and ushers in a period of peace and prosperity which lasts until the Roman emperor Lucius Tiberius demands tribute. Arthur refuses, and war follows. Arthur and his warriors, including Caius, Bedver and Walganus, defeat Lucius in Gaul, but as he prepares to march on Rome, Arthur hears news that his nephew Modredus, whom he had left in charge of Britain, has married his wife Guanhumara and seized the throne. Arthur returns to Britain and defeats and kills Modredus on the river Camblam in Cornwall, but is mortally wounded. He hands the crown to his kinsman Constantine, and is taken to the isle of Avalon to be healed of his wounds, never to be seen again.[15]

Geoffrey's Historia became very popular and influential, and was translated into Norman French verse by Wace, who introduced the Round Table, and Middle English verse by Layamon. It fed back into Welsh tradition, with three different Welsh prose translations appearing, and material in the Welsh triads deriving from it.


Arthurian romance
The popularity of Geoffrey's Historia and its derivative works led to new Arthurian works being written in continental Europe, particularly in France, in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Arthur and his retinue appear in some of the Lais of Marie de France, but it was the work of another French poet, Chrétien de Troyes, that had the greatest influence. Chrétien wrote five Arthurian romances between 1170 and 1190. Erec and Enide and Cligès are tales of courtly love with Arthur's court as their backdop, and Yvain, the Knight of the Lion features Yvain and Gawain in a supernatural adventure, but the most significant for the development of the legend are Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart, which introduces Lancelot, one of the most familiar of Arthur's knights, and his adulterous relationship with Arthur's queen, Guinevere, and Perceval, the Story of the Grail, which introduces the Holy Grail and the Fisher King. Perceval, although unfinished, was particularly popular, and four separate continuations of the poem appeared over the next half a century.

In Chrétien's Perceval it is not clear exactly what the Grail is. A few decades later Robert de Boron's poem Joseph d'Arimathe explains that the Grail is the cup used by Joseph of Arimathea to catch Christ's blood during the crucifixion, later brought to Britain by Joseph's family. Robert's work had lasting effect on subsequent stories of the Grail. By contrast, in Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival, a Middle High German version of the story, the Grail is a magical stone.

A German poet, Ulrich von Zatzikhoven, further developed Lancelot's story in his Lanzelet, which introduces the Lady of the Lake. The Anglo-Norman poet Thomas of Britain and the Norman poet Béroul introduced the story of Tristan and Iseult in the late 12th century, later developed in Middle High German by Gottfried von Strassburg.

The Welsh Mabinogion collection contains three Arthurian romances, similar to those of Chrétien, but with some significant differences. Owain, or the Lady of the Fountain is related to Chrétien's Yvain, Geraint and Enid to Erec and Enide, and Peredur son of Efrawg to Perceval, although the place of the Holy Grail is taken by a severed head on a platter.


The Vulgate Cycle
A series of five Middle French prose works, the Estoire del Saint Grail, the Estoire de Merlin, the Lancelot propre, the Queste del Saint Graal and the Mort Artu, written in the 13th century, combine to form the first coherent version of the entire Arthurian legend, known as the Lancelot-Grail cycle, also known as the Prose Lancelot or the Vulgate Cycle. These texts introduce the character of Galahad, expand the role of Merlin, and establish the role of Camelot, first mentioned in passing in Chrétien's Lancelot, as Arthur's primary court. The Suite du Merlin or Vulgate Merlin Continuation adds more material on Merlin and on Arthur's youth, and a later series of texts, known as the Post-Vulgate Cycle, reduces the importance of Lancelot's affair with Guinevere, which was prominent in the Vulgate.


Thomas Malory
The development of the Arthurian cycle culminated in Le Morte d'Arthur, Thomas Malory's retelling of the entire legend in a single work in English in the late 15th century. Malory based his book on the various previous versions, in particular the Vulgate Cycle, and introduced some material of his own. Le Morte D'Arthur was one of the earliest printed books in England, published by William Caxton in 1485.

Excalibur
In Robert de Boron's Merlin, Arthur obtained the throne by pulling a sword from a stone. In this account, this act could not be performed except by "the true king," meaning the divinely appointed king or true heir of Uther Pendragon. This sword is thought by many to be the famous Excalibur and the identity is made explicit in the later so-called Vulgate Merlin Continuation, part of the Lancelot-Grail cycle. However, in what is sometimes called the Post-Vulgate Merlin, Excalibur was given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake sometime after he began to reign. According to many sources, Arthur broke the sword pulled from the stone while fighting King Pellinore, and thus Merlin took him to retrieve Excalibur from the lake (as cited in many novels including Howard Pyle's King Arthur and His Knights, King Arthur and the Legend of Camelot, and indeed most modern Arthurian literature). In this Post-Vulgate version, the sword's blade could slice through anything, including steel, and its sheath made the wearer invincible in that the wearer could not die so long as they bore the scabbard.

Some stories say that Arthur did indeed pull the sword from the stone (Excalibur), giving him the right to be king, but accidentally killed a fellow knight with it and cast it away. Merlin told him to undertake a quest to find another blade, and it was then that Arthur received his sword from the hand in the water, and named it Excalibur, after his original sword. The first appearance of the sword named Caliburn is in Geoffrey of Monmouth, who asserted that in battle against Arthur "nought might armour avail, but that Caliburn would carve their souls from out them with their blood."[16]

The Alliterative Morte Arthure, a Middle English poem, gives mention of Clarent, a sword of peace meant for knighting and ceremonies as opposed to battle, which is stolen and then used to kill Arthur.


The legend of King Arthur has remained popular into the 21st century. Though the popularity of Arthurian literature waned somewhat after the end of the Middle Ages, it experienced a revival during the 19th century, especially after the publication of Alfred Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King. The subsequent period saw the creation of hundreds, perhaps thousands of books, poems, and films about King Arthur, both new works of fiction and analyses of the relevant historical and archaeological data.

Tintagel Castle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tintagel Castle (grid reference SX051889) is a castle currently in ruins found on Tintagel Head, located near Tintagel in Cornwall, England, UK. The site was originally a Roman settlement, though the remains of the castle that stand today date from the 13th century. The castle is traditionally linked to the legend of King Arthur and as such it is currently a popular tourist site run by English Heritage.

Roman settlement
Cornwall was relatively untouched during the Roman occupation of Britain, however coins and pottery fragments found at the site indicate that the site was occupied in the third or fourth century. Two Roman milestones nearby indicate that a road lead to the settlement, which indicate that this settlement may have been called 'Durocornovium'.


Dark Age settlement
After the Romans left Britain, Celtic peoples did build a fortress on the site. It is often speculated that it was a summer residence for the rulers of Dumnonia. The Ravenna Cosmography, of around 700, makes reference to Purocoronavis, (almost certainly a corruption of Durocornovium), 'a fort or walled settlement of the Cornovii, (unidentified, but possibly referring to Tintagel Castle or Carn Brea castle). Later legends claimed that this was the site where the Cornish kings held court at this time.


Reginald, Earl of Cornwall
A castle was built on the site by Reginald, Earl of Cornwall in 1233, to build on the Arthurian legends that were associated with the area and because it was seen as the traditional place for Cornish kings. The castle was built in a more old fashioned style for the time to make it appear more ancient. Reginald hoped that in this way he could help to gain the Cornish people's trust, who were suspicious of outsiders. The castle itself held no real strategic value.


Fall into ruins
After Reginald, the following Earls of Cornwall were not interested in the castle, and it was left to the county sheriff. The castle became more dilapedated, and in the 1330s the roof of the Great Hall was removed. From there, the castle became ruins.


Victorian era
During the Victorian era, there was a fascination with the Arthurian legends, and the ruins of the castle became a tourist destination. The modern day village of Tintagel was known as Trevena until the 1850s, when it was renamed to promote tourism on the back of the King Arthur and Camelot legends. Strictly speaking, Tintagel is only the name of the headland.


Arthurian legend
It was claimed by Geoffrey of Monmouth in the 12th century that the castle at Tintagel Head was where King Uther Pendragon seduced Queen Igraine of Cornwall, while her husband, Gorlois, was under siege elsewhere. King Arthur was thus conceived and Tennyson made the castle his birthplace. In later Arthurian legend the castle's main role is as the chief castle of King Mark of Cornwall, who was the uncle of Sir Tristan and husband of Iseult. They famously engage in a secret affair behind his back. A nearby cave is known as 'Merlin's cave' after the Arthurian wizard Merlin.


Archaelogical Discoveries
A Dark Ages Celtic fortress did exist there. The first excavations, which were undertaken by Ralegh Radford in the 1930s, have come under modern criticism, partly because the site documentation was slight by modern standards. Radford led a considerable interpretative shift when he suggested that Tintagel was in fact a Celtic monastery and not an "Arthurian" site. In the mid-1980s a fire on Tintagel headland led to considerable erosion of the topsoil, and many more building foundations than were recorded by Radford could be seen.[1] In 1998 the mis-called "Arthur stone" was discovered there that raised hopes for some basis for the legend.[2] The present-day ruins of the castle are situated on a rocky headland that overlooks the Cornish coast. Tintagel Castle is one of the landholdings of the Duchy of Cornwall/Prince Charles who refuse to reveal the date or circumstances under which the castle was transferred to the care of English Heritage. It has proved not possible to obtain this information, as there is a Parliamentary injunction [3] preventing MP’s from raising questions about, or even attempting to discuss, Duchy related matters. On 16th July 1997 the Liberal Democrat Andrew George MP attempted to raise a Duchy-related question but he was prevented by an injunction that disallows MPs raising any questions in Parliament that are in any way related to the Duchy.


Recent Controversy
In 1999 there was some controversy regarding this site and others under the care of the English Heritage organisation. Members of a pressure group, the Revived Cornish Stannary Parliament, removed several signs bearing the English Heritage name.[4][5]

Ravenna Cosmography

The Ravenna Cosmography was compiled by an anonymous cleric in Ravenna around AD 700. It consists of a list of place-names covering the world from India to Ireland. Textual evidence indicates that the author frequently used maps as his source.

The surviving texts are quite challenging. The three manuscript copies are distanced from the autograph (original manuscript) by three or four generations. As a result, the copies are plagued by errors of spelling, word division, omission, and errors of hearing (The text was apparently dictated at one point.). The text-to-text variations are not limited to the place-names, but are also significant in the intervening commentary. Thus, the bulk of the blame cannot be placed on the original author.

The most recent critical edition of the three manuscripts is that of Joseph Schnetz, Itineraria Romana, vol. II: Ravennatis Anonymi Cosmographia et Guidonis Geographica , 1942 (reprinted 1990), B G Teubner, Stuttgart.

Marking special places along the St. Michael ley line are a great number of churches, some important, others almost secret, which are often dedicated to St Michael and other dragon-slaying saints, or to St. Mary, the Christianised earth goddess.

About the Authors

Hamish Miller is a dowser specializing in the dowsing of earth energies. He read engineering at St Andrews and Edinburgh, has given talks on local and national radio and has appeared in several TV programmes. Now a blacksmith and metal sculptor, he lives near St Michael's Mount.

Situated on either side of the English Channel and precariously perched upon coastal rock outcroppings are the famous medieval pilgrimage shrines of St. Michael's Mount and Mont-St. Michel. At both sites, visions of the archangel were seen during the fifth century and the histories of the two shrines are intimately connected with one another.

Guarding the entrance to the Land's End district of Cornwall, the English Mount was known as a port and trading post (for tin and copper) from as early as 350 BC. Following the defeat of the seafaring merchants who controlled the mount by the Roman Julius Caeser in 56 BC, the small island was abandoned to hermits and mystics. Legends tell of a visit by St. Keyne and a spring that miraculously gushed forth when she set foot upon the rock in 490 AD. The event that most clearly stimulated Christian pilgrimages to the mount however, was an apparition of St. Michael to a fisherman in 495 AD. According to different versions of the legend, St. Michael was observed either high upon a rocky ledge or walking upon the waters of Mount Bay. Whatever the case, the mount quickly became an important sacred site that would continue to draw pilgrims from throughout England for 1500 years. During its long history after the apparition, the Mount has been a church, a priory, a military fortress, and a private castle of the St. Aubyn family. Today the castle and shrine are maintained by the National Trust, an independent organization devoted to the preservation of British antiquities. Both tourists and religious pilgrims visit the site.

In studying St. Michael's Mount two interesting matters come to light. The first regards the legendary accounts of apparitions of the archangel. According to various reckonings, St. Michael was said to have miraculously appeared in over 400 places throughout Britain and Europe during the 4th and 5th centuries. At a large percentage of these sites he was supposed to have slain dragons. This author finds it remarkable that paleontological excavations have brought to light large numbers of dinosaur bones from hundreds of millions of years ago yet not one single dragon bone from only 1500 years ago. This lack of evidence for the existence of dragons, at least in early medieval times, must cause any intelligent person to question the Christian story of St. Michael. Did the archangel really appear and did he really slay dragons, or should the myth be understood as having a metaphorical rather than literal meaning?

Throughout the world different cultures have memorialized the power places and the enigmatic apparitions that occurred at them with myths and legends, drawings and carvings of dragons, serpents and giant snakes. These iconographic representations of the earth spirit and its mystic powers are methods whereby peoples' experiences of the unexplainable were symbolically communicated over long periods of time. Snakes live beneath the surface of the ground and thus were universally used to symbolically depict the mysterious forces of the underworld (it is also true that various species of snakes live in trees and there is much ancient iconography depicting serpents and dragons sinuously wound round the great Earth Tree whose roots reach into the underworld).

Yet there is still more to this matter, and the Christian myth of the dragon-slaying St. Michael may be further unraveled. Many pre-Christian legends, in those areas of Europe with standing stones in the countryside, have references to giants or normal persons who 'speared a serpent' or 'captured the dragon forces' at a specific site by the placement of a great stone into the body of the earth. Even more telling is the fact that many Christian sacred sites were, prior to the arrival of Christianity, known as dragon's dens and serpent's lairs. The Christian story of St. Michael spearing a pagan serpent may thus be seen as a usurpation of a far older pagan myth. It is truly one of the sweetest ironies that while the Christian symbol of St. Michael was intended to depict the so-called 'victory' of the new faith over the old, it does so with a graphic form that actually perpetuates the pagan myths which the Christians sought to eradicate.

A second fascinating matter that presents itself to the student of St. Michael shrines in Britain is the extraordinary linking of those shrines by straight lines running for hundreds of miles across the countryside. One example is the line, which originating at St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall, goes on to pass through the pre-Druid/Druid sacred site of Cheesewring, through the St. Michael's churches at Brentor, upon the Neolithic mound of Burrowbridge Mump, and upon Glastonbury Tor, and thence continues on to the stone rings of Avebury. These places listed here are only the better known sites along this particular line; there are indeed many other earth and stone structures along the line and all of them predate the arrival of Christianity by thousands of years. Readers interested in learning more about these lines linking sacred sites around the world will find the matter discussed in more detail in Chapter Two of my book Places of Peace and Power (www.sacredsites.com). Additionally, the writings of John Michell, Hamish Miller, and Paul Broadhurst, listed in the bibliography, are highly recommended.

My first visit to Glastonbury was in the late summer of 1986. I had been bicycling for a year throughout western and Mediterranean Europe in search of stone circles, holy wells of the Earth goddess, and Gothic cathedrals. All the while I had felt a powerful yearning to visit the region and village of Glastonbury. It felt as if the place was mysteriously exerting a magnetic attraction upon both my mind and heart. The closer I came, the more my dreams and imaginations were filled with images of dragons, fairy kingdoms, and Arthurian legends. Upon reaching England, I hastened southwest toward the region of Somerset. Nearing Glastonbury, cycling through emerald green valleys shrouded in fog, it seemed I was entering a magical kingdom. Miles ahead in the distance the great hill known as the Tor loomed high above the ethereal mists and all the world below. It appeared, as it had been long ago, an island jutting skyward from an inland sea.

The earliest knowledge we have of the Tor come to us from legends. In prehistoric times the island peak was believed to be the home of Gwyn ap Nudd, the Lord of the spirit world of Annwn. Immortalized in folklore, Gwyn ap Nudd became a Fairy King and his realm of Annwn the mystic isle and sacred mount of Avalon. Long a holy place of pagan spirituality, the 170 meter tall hill shows extensive signs of being contoured by human hands in Neolithic times. These contours, indistinct after the passage of thousands of years, mark the course of a spiraling labyrinth, which encircles the hill from base to peak. Ancient myths and folk legends suggest that pilgrims to the sacred island would moor their boats upon the shore and, entering the great landscape labyrinth, begin their long ascent to the hilltop shrine. By following the intricate and winding route of the labyrinth, rather than ascending by a more direct line, a deep attunement with the Tor's concentrated terrestrial and celestial energies was achieved.

Archaeologists are prone to dismiss such legends as nothing but fanciful myths of preliterate people. A wealth of studies, however, by folklorists, dowsers and other earth mystery researchers suggest that these mythic images may in fact be the dim memories of long forgotten realities. In the mid 1960's, for example, the brilliant scholar of English antiquities, John Michell, found evidence of an alignment of Neolithic sacred sites in the Glastonbury region. The Tor was linked with such venerable ancient holy places as Avebury stone rings and St.Michael's Mount. More recent research by Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst, featured in their book The Sun and the Serpent, has revealed this enigmatic alignment runs all across southern England linking hundreds of Neolithic, Celtic and early Christian sacred places.

Miller and Broadhurst have brought to light other matters of great importance. Laboriously dowsing the entire alignment over a period of years, they discovered there are actually two distinct lines of energy - roughly parallel to one another - flowing for nearly 300 miles. Because of the large number of St.Michael and St.Mary churches situated upon the lines, these energy pathways have been dubbed the St.Michael and St.Mary lines. While the lines are of far greater antiquity than Christianity, it is not entirely inappropriate to have given them such Christian names. St.Michael, or more properly the Archangel Michael, is traditionally regarded as an angel of light, the revealer of mysteries and the guide to the other world. Each of these qualities are in fact attributes of other earlier divinities that Michael supplanted. Frequently shown spearing dragons, St.Michael is widely recognized by scholars of mythology to be the Christian successor to pagan gods such as the Egyptian Thoth, the Greek Hermes, the Roman Mercury and the Celtic Bel. Mercury and Hermes were considered guardians of the elemental powers of the earth spirit, whose mysterious forces were sometimes represented by serpents and linear currents of dragon energy. Along these dragon lines were highly charged power places - the serpent's dens and dragon's lairs of prehistoric myths - whose locations archaic geomancers had marked with spear-like standing stones, cave temples, and hilltop sanctuaries. Thousands of years later, as Christianity began its relentless spread through pagan Europe, St.Michael shrines were placed at these sites and the dragon-slaying Archangel became a symbol of the Christian suppression of the old religions.

As Miller and Broadhurst continued their dowsing research, following the Michael and Mary energy lines to and up the sides of the Tor, they made a remarkable discovery. The two lines appeared to mirror the ancient landscape labyrinth as it winds its serpentine way to the summit. Even more astonishing, the two lines move in a sort of harmony with one another and, at the very peak, interpenetrate as if they are ritually mating. The female, yin or Mary energy line encloses the masculine, yang or Michael energy in the form of a double-lipped cup. It is a most evocative image. The configuration of the Mary energy line, containing the phallus-like mediaeval tower of St.Michael, seems to portray a chalice or grail and is thus a potent symbol of the alchemical fusion of universal opposites.

Descending the Tor, the Michael and Mary lines pass precisely through other key sites in Glastonbury's sacred geography. Primary among these are the Chalice Well, Glastonbury Abbey, and Wearyall Hill. A study of the myths and legends of these places will reveal more associations with that mystical vessel, the Holy Grail. The story is fascinating. According to old Cornish legends, Christ's uncle, Joseph of Arimathaea, was a tin merchant who traded with miners on Britain's western coasts. On one of his trading journeys he brought along his nephew, the boy Jesus, and together they made a pilgrimage to the Holy Isle of Avalon. Years later, following the Crucifixion, Joseph returned to Avalon and moored his boat on Wearyall Hill. There he planted his staff in the ground, where it took root and blossomed into the Holy Thorn whose descendant is still growing on the hill today. On the site below this hill Joseph built a small church, believed to be first Christian foundation in Britain. From the Holy Land Joseph had brought the cup used at the Last Supper, which held the blood of Christ that dripped from the Cross. This most sacred of objects, the Holy Grail, is said to have been buried with the body of Joseph on Chalice Hill, which lies between the Tor and the site of Abbey.

Near the center of Glastonbury town stand the ruins of the old Abbey, once the greatest monastery of medieval Europe. In the heart of the Abbey, a St.Mary Chapel marks the exact site where Joseph set his original church. Analysis of the ground plan of the St.Mary chapel reveals proportions of sacred geometry equal to those found at nearby Stonehenge, and a ley line running through the axis of the Abbey runs straight to that famous stone ring, indicating a connection between the two holy places in deep antiquity. During the Christian era large numbers of pilgrims flocked to the Abbey to venerate the relics of saints and sages, some of the most valued relics being those of St.Patrick who ended his days at Glastonbury in 461 AD (Patrick, the much loved ‘saint’ of Ireland is not actually Irish but was born in England and later captured by Irish pirates and sold into slavery there). In 1539 the Abbey was closed by order of King Henry VIII and the great monastery fell into ruins. Before the closure of the Abbey, monks hid the vast wealth of relics, manuscripts, and other treasures within tunnels and caverns beneath Glastonbury Tor. Legends say these hidden treasures will one day be revealed, ushering an age of peace and enlightenment into the world.

The Glastonbury region and its Abbey also have strong associations with Arthurian legends and the quest for the Holy Grail. In 1190 AD, following a fire which destroyed much of the Abbey, the dramatic discovery was made of two ancient oak coffins buried sixteen feet beneath the ground. Contained within the coffins were the bones of a large man and a woman, and an inscribed cross identifying the bodies as those of King Arthur, whose traditional burial place was Avalon, and Queen Guinevere. Centuries old texts in the Abbey library describe the adventures of King Arthur and his knights between Avalon and nearby Cadbury Castle, where stood Arthur's court of Camelot. More recent research has lent further credibility to the ancient association of Glastonbury with Arthurian legend. In 1929 an artist, Kathryn Maltwood, discovered evidence of a group of enormous earth figures molded on the landscape across ten miles of Somerset. These figures, delineated by natural features of the earth and further contoured by human design, have been interpreted as scenes from Arthurian legends based on astrological patterns. While it is now known that the figures long predate the historical period of King Arthur (500 AD), their presence hints at archaic wisdom teachings encoded in the very hills and valleys of mother earth.

Perhaps the most intriguing of all Glastonbury's mysteries are the strange balls of colored lights frequently seen spiraling around the Tor. In 1970, a local police officer reported seeing eight egg-shaped objects "dark maroon in color, hovering in formation over the hill" and in 1980 a witness saw "several green and mauve lights hovering around the tower, some smaller than others, about the size of beach balls and footballs. One hovered outside the east facing window". This author spent one summer night sleeping within the tower and, waking from a dream of castles and magical beings, found the interior of the tower radiantly aglow with a luminous white light. Glastonbury, the mystic isle of Avalon is truly an enchanted place. A sacred site since time immemorial, it is often forgotten but always rediscovered. Today a major haven for pilgrims and spiritual seekers, Glastonbury is a power place of potent transformational energies.

The star Aldebaran - Alpha Tauri - is the brightest star in the constellation Taurus. Its name is derived from the Arabic word Al Dabaran, "follower", a reference to the way the star follows the Pleiades star cluster in its nightly journey across the sky. Aldebaran itself is apparently the brightest member of the more scattered Hyades cluster, which is the closest star cluster to Earth. However, it is merely located in the line of sight between the Earth and the Hyades, and is actually an independent star.

Aldebaran is a K5 III star, which means it is orangish, large, and has moved off of the main sequence by using all its hydrogen fuel. It has a minor companion (a dim M2 dwarf orbiting at several hundred AU). Now primarily fusing helium, the main star has expanded to a diameter of approximately 5.3 ? 107 km, or about 38 times the diameter of the Sun. The Hipparcos satellite has measured it as 65.1 light years away, and it shines with 150 times the Sun's luminosity. Taken together this distance and brightness makes it the 13th brightest star in the sky. It is slightly variable, of the pulsating variable type, by about 0.2 magnitude.

In 1997, a possible large planet (or small brown dwarf) companion was reported, with a minimum mass of 11 Jupiters and orbiting at a distance of 1.35 AU.

Aldebaran is one of the easier stars to find in the night sky, partly due to its brightness and partly due to its spatial relation to one of the more noticeable asterisms in the sky. If one follows the three stars of Orion's belt from left to right (in the Northern Hemisphere) or right to left (in the Southern), the first bright star found by continuing that line is Aldebaran.

Astrologically, Aldebaran was a fortunate star, portending riches and honor. This star is one of the four "royal stars" of the Persians from around 3000 BC. As the star of illumination, Aldebaran irradiates the Way using the applied power of transformation. In seeking illumination, we can cultivate the ability to use the mind as a reflector of soul light. The other three Royal Stars are Antares in the constellation Scorpio the Scorpion, the Western Royal Star, Regulus in the constellation Leo the Lion, the Northern Royal Star, and Fomalhaut in the constellation Pisces Austrinus, the Southern Fish - close to the constellation Aquarius - the Southern Royal Star.

This astrological talisman is an example of the use of fixed stars in astrological magic utilizing the star Aldebaran. The example comes from Cornelius Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy.

Aldebaran comes from the Arabic Al Dabaran "the Follower" as it follows the Pleiades. Aldebaran is also known as Alpha Tauri as the brightest star in the constellation Taurus and Oculus Tauri the Bull's Eye. Aldebaran is a first magnitude star and one of the brightest in the Heavens. Aldebaran is a red giant and is described as having a pale rose color.

Ptolemy, in his says that Aldebaran is of the nature of Mars. Tetrabiblos Bk. I, Chapter 9 (Loeb, 1940) page 47.

Robson says that Aldebaran is one of the four Royal Stars or Watchers of the Heavens. Fixed Stars & Constellations in Astrology (1923) page 119. These stars were later associated with four archangels: Aldebaran with Michael, Fomalhaut with Gabriel, Regulus with Raphael and Antares with Uriel.

Agrippa says that, "Under Aldebora [Aldebaran] they made an image after the likeness of God, or of a flying man; it giveth riches and honor." Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk. II, Chapter 47, (Tyson ed.) page 395.

Interestingly enough the name of Michael, the archangel associated with Aldebaran, means "he who is like God". The association of Michael with Aldebaran, a Martial star, is also appropriate as Michael is the archistrategist, the general of God. In the Book of Revelations it says, "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels..." Revelation 12:7.

So onto our talisman. Agrippa discusses the construction of rings using astrological magic and his instructions are applicable to talismans as well, "...when any star ascends fortunately, with the fortunate aspect or conjunction of the Moon,

We must take a stone, and herb that is under that star, and make a ring of that metal that is suitable to this star and fasten the stone, putting the herb, or root under it; not omitting the inscriptions of images, names and characters, also the proper suffumigations..."

On November 30, 2001 at 4:45 pm EDT (+4) in Washington, D.C. 38 N 55, 77 W 03, Aldebaran, located at 9 degrees and 47 minutes of Gemini is rising. We note that the Moon is applying to a partile (exact to the degree) conjunction of Aldebaran on the Ascendant. We would also note that Saturn, retrograde, is conjunct the Ascendant. Another example of the maxim that it is difficult to find a perfect election!

Agrippa says, "...Aldebaran, which hath under it, among stones, the carbuncle and ruby; amongst plants, the milky thistle [Carduus marianus], and matry-silva [woodruff, Asperula odorata]." Three Books of Occult Philosophy Bk. I, Chapter 32, (Tyson ed.) page 98.

Aldebaran, the brightest star in the constellation Taurus the Bull, rises in the fall at sunset, and is the thirteenth brightest star in the sky. Its name comes from the Arabic Al Dabaran, the Follower, because Aldebaran appears to follow the Pleiades through the night sky.

As the Eye of the Bull, Aldebaran is called the Eye of Revelation. It is referred to by astronomers and cosmologists as the Eastern Royal Star, one of the four Royal Stars considered the sentinels watching over other stars. It is also known as the Buddha’s star, the Star of Illumination, and God’s Eye. This magnificent star has been used for centuries in navigation, and is known by many civilizations to be connected with the spirits of rain and the fertility of the earth. Approximately 5,000 years ago, the rising of Aldebaran marked the vernal equinox (1) and marked the beginning of the Babylonian new year.

Taurus is often associated with royalty and divine power. Throughout the ages Aldebaran has been spiritually recognized for its alignment with divinity. The Hindus referred to Aldebaran and Taurus as Rohini (the Red Deer), the name of the river in Nepal where the Buddha was born at the time of the May full moon, around 563 BCE. Another Hindu name for Aldebaran is Sataves, which translates to the "leader of the western stars."

Pale reddish-orange in color, Aldebaran has a companion red dwarf star that shares its motion throughout space. Located slightly south of the ecliptic, in the path of our earth’s moon, Aldebaran has a magnitude of 1.2 and is one of the few 1st magnitude stars the moon may occult. Approximately 40 times the size of our sun, Aldebaran is 68 light years from the Earth, and is about 3 times the brilliance of Polaris, our current North Star.

In addition to the star Aldebaran, there are two other very beautiful and famous star clusters in the constellation of Taurus: the V-shaped Hyades at the head of the bull, and the Pleiades in the shoulder. To locate Aldebaran or Taurus, follow the line of the three stars that make up the belt of Orion; they point directly west toward Aldebaran. Look up during the fall and winter months just after sunset, and you’ll see Orion’s Belt and Aldebaran rising in the east, traveling in a northwesterly direction.

Aldebaran, the star of illumination, is directly across the zodiac from Antares, the star of anger, pride and revenge. In the only exact opposition of two major stars; Aldebaran is located at 9 degrees of the sign Gemini, with Antares at 9 degrees of the sign Sagittarius.

Aldebaran is said to be a portal to the mysteries of the mind and when balanced with the fixed star Antares, a portal to the mysteries of the heart, this creates a powerful stargate axis that is illuminated bi-annally when the Sun passes by Aldebaran at the first of June and then Antares about six months later.

Recently Pluto has been in the constellation of Scorpio and was conjunct Antares, also known for its transformative qualities. Pluto visits Scorpio only once every 248 years. During its sweep through this part of the zodiac, Pluto’s orbit brings it closer to the Sun than Neptune for approximately 20 years.

Pluto is a dynamic force of creation and destruction. Pluto, the first ray planet of will power and purpose in our solar system assists in the destruction of the lower desires so that more highly evolved qualities can be expressed by the human being. In the destruction of old forms — be they physical, astral or mental — Pluto literally changes their atomic structure. Pluto causes major changes and forces the transcendence of personal desires into a more universal orientation. Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth. It personifies the destruction of things whose time has come to an end, and the regeneration of what is new. As the star of illumination, Aldebaran irradiates the Way using the applied power of transformation. In seeking illumination, we can cultivate the ability to use the mind as a reflector of soul light. (6) An increased understanding about the process of revelation may help us comprehend the quality and significance of Aldebaran.

One way we receive revelation is through contact with the soul. The more consciously we desire, demand and will such contact, the closer we are to receiving the next needed revelation. How clearly we perceive the revelation depends on our ability to still the mind and listen to the voice within. One of the most difficult aspects of our service is to understand correctly the precipitating truth, information or revelation that is being impressed. We need time to absorb the revelation and incorporate it into a useful present time form.

Visualize this light flowing to one of the seven stars of the Pleiades, observe the star it is naturally magnetized toward. Know the energy is being slowly stepped down in vibration as it reaches this star. Watch it leave the Pleiades and enter into our solar system. Visualize Aldebaran, the star of illumination, focusing like a lens the light force, Fohat, the Active Intelligence, to the Earth’s North Pole.

Then see this force being absorbed by the Soul of Humanity. Visualize a golden thread of light entering the top of your head, and open to receive revelations and insights about your purpose in the divine Plan.

When the energy of the light force is released to nations, races and individuals it produces two effects: the increase of the self-will, demonstrating as cleavages, separate desires, goals, or ideas of a nation, state, family or the individual, without regard for the need of the whole. snoop thanks for the correspondance. this weekend i have had dreams about arthur, mount st michael, the one in france (i flew past mon st michel) and then aldebran. so i woke up and googled them, i did not they were all related, weird coincidences bro. so i goodled arthur, on sunday, then came up the mount st michael in uk, then i remembered what the mount looked like in the dream, the water etc it was mont st michel. then i found a website with ley line of michael/arthur, then last night i saw aldebran in my dream. so i googled, weird things. the line runs from from armageddon to eire.

what this means i haven't a clue, i was hoping someone would help.

These Four Guardians or Watchers were also called the archangel stars. Aldebaran, "The Eye of Illumination"

Aldebaran, the brightest star in the constellation Taurus the Bull, rises in the fall at sunset, and is the thirteenth brightest star in the sky. Its name comes from the Arabic Al Dabaran, the Follower, because Aldebaran appears to follow the Pleiades through the night sky.

As the Eye of the Bull, Aldebaran is called the Eye of Revelation. It is referred to by astronomers and cosmologists as the Eastern Royal Star, one of the four Royal Stars considered the sentinels watching over other stars. It is also known as the Buddha’s star, the Star of Illumination, and God’s Eye. This magnificent star has been used for centuries in navigation, and is known by many civilizations to be connected with the spirits of rain and the fertility of the earth. In the sign of Taurus, when desire is transmuted into aspiration, darkness gives place to light and illumination. In the legend of King Arthur and Camelot, the end comes with the king dying near a sacred lake. He asks his trusted aid to take EXCALIBUR and throw it into the lake and then report to him what happened as the sword entered the water. The trusted aid avoided disposing of the precious sword on two occasions, believing that its power could be passed on to other chosen to have it. When he was asked by Arthur to describe what happened, the aid made up stories appropriate to the splashing of a sword into the lake. Eventually, nine queenly ladies came and took King Arthur away on a barge to his burial place at the center of the lake. Remember, it was foretold on the meridian vision of the highest heavens at Stonehenge that the king would follow that barge to the bottom of the sea. "When this table set over Stonehenge, a king and a queen sat on the eternal place of honor at the horizon on the north zenith meridian and a ship sank beneath the cosmic sea at the horizon on the south zenith meridian ." This was and still is the cosmic kingdom we have looked into, it alone determines who will pull the magic sword out of the substance of the material world.

There is little room for doubt that the one who caught the sword is the great Prince at the surface of the heavenly waters called Perseus. It is he who is the ancient "angel of death" and carries in his sack the head of the dreamer.
The nine ladies are an echo of the nine muses of Greek mythology. Greek mythology is the written echo of oral traditions ancient before Stonehenge. In the dialogues of Timaeus and Critias, Plato described a kingdom in the Atlantic which was a city with a circular design having an entrance causeway exactly like Stonehenge. To put meaning into life, it is necessary to reach up and grasp the flower in the hand of the Virgin, and make the senses wise of the legend of a kingdom to come.

EXCALIBUR forever waits to be withdrawn from the Cosmic Stone by any child, or civilization, that properly delays gratification in preparation for Kingdom Come. We must each do our own "home work" in the hunt for excellence to deserve dominion over this Cosmic Sea."

The Salian Franks or Salii were a subgroup of the early Franks who originally had been living north of the limes in the coastal area above the Rhine in the northern Netherlands, where today there still is a region called Salland. The Merovingian kings, responsible for the conquest of Gaul were of Salian stock. From the 3rd century on the Salian Franks appear in the historical records as warlike Germanic people and pirates, and as "Laeti" (allies of the Romans). They were the first Germanic tribe from beyond the limes that settled permanently on Roman land.

The Salians fully adopted the Frankish identity and ceased to appear by their original name from the 5th century onward, when they evolved into the Franks par excellence.[1] This is long before the Ripuarian Franks were first mentioned. The Lex Ripuaria originated about 630 around Cologne and has been described as a later development of the Frankish laws known from Lex Salica. Unlike popular opinion, there was no division of Franks between Salians and Ripuarians.[2]

SATANIC BLOODLINE OF THE ANTICHRIST & FALSE PROPHET

INTRODUCTION

The following pages are selected portions of another report on this website, The False Gospel in the Stars, which is an expose of the astrological signs that will be used to validate the credentials of the Antichrist and False Prophet. Many projections concerning the identities of these personages are often disinformation calculated to deceive. Adding to the general ignorance, there is little information coming forth in the way of exposure of the Merovingian dynasty as the Satanic bloodline from which the Antichrist and False Prophet will come. Yet the Bible presents specific evidence concerning the identities of the Antichrist and False Prophet, the Mark of the Beast, Mystery Babylon the Great and other entities that will be imperative for God’s elect to recognize during the Tribulation Period. For instance, Revelation 13:1, which identifies the Antichrist as “the beast that rises out of the sea,” becomes crystal clear upon discovery that a demonic bloodline that exists today that was originally sired by a mysterious “sea beast”—the Bistea Neptunis. Merovingian authors like Laurence Gardner inform their readers about the demonic bloodline of the Bistea Neptunis in New Age books such as Bloodline of the Holy Grail:

“It was the Arcadian legacy that was responsible for the the mysterious sea beast - the Bistea Neptunis - as symbolically defined in the Merovingian ancestry. The relevant sea-lord was King Pallas, a god of old Arcadia. His predecessor was the great Oceanus. The immortal sea-lord was said to be ‘ever-incarnate in a dynasty of ancient kings’ whose symbol was a fish...” (p. 175)

This demonic creature was Neptune, the mythological god of the sea who is said to have founded Atlantis, which is the pagan version of the pre-flood civilization which God judged in Genesis 7. Genesis 6:1-4 describes the intermarriage of mankind with demons:

“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

It is possible that the cursed seed of the serpent continued after the Deluge through Noah’s son Ham. (Gen. 9:25) Gardner and other Merovingian authors claim there is a living descendant of this demonic bloodline who will one day rule over a revived Atlantis.

The City of the Alpha

Our study of the origins of the Grail bloodline had lead us to a race of ancient mythical god-kings, of which nearly identical descriptions can be found in the records of cultures spanning a wide spectrum of times and locales. These god-kings were portrayed in Judeo-Christian lore as the fallen angels and “Sons of God” of the Bible, or the “Watchers” of The Book of Enoch, and were personified by one figure in particular: Cain. We also discovered that these god-kings were equivalent to the kings of Atlantis described by Plato. It appeared that this mysterious “Atlantis” may have been the original home of this sea-faring, civilizing race.

We also learned about some of the incredible feats of construction attributed to these god-kings in legend. Time and again in the course of our research we have encountered tales connecting them to the construction of man-made mountains and islands; and often, in relation to these, subterranean cities. We had been lead by clues, rather strangely, to investigate the myths associated with the “Hollow Earth” theory – myths of the underground empire of Agartha, ruled by the “Lord of the Earth”, and lit by a “Black Sun” located in the Earth’s center. We were convinced that there was a direct connection between the legendary subterranean kingdoms of ancient mythology and the Grail saga, but we weren’t at first able to find too many direct connections to the Rennes- le -Chateau story - just lots and lots of tantalizing clues hinting at it. We knew, for instance, that the area is covered with numerous underground tunnels, and many believe that at least one of these tunnels leads to Sauniere’s mysterious treasure. We also knew that Rennes-le-Chateau was considered a sort of metaphysical gateway between Heaven and Hell, the “House of God and Gateway to Heaven”, as Sauniere, quoting from the Bible, described it. The entire mystery, and the surrounding area, are steeped with legends of the Devil, and therefore of the Underworld. And we knew that Otto Rahn, a Nazi SS employee, had been sent to the Cathar fortress of Montsegur in Southern France to look for the Grail stone in the caves of the mountain, which, he believed, lead to an underground temple in which the relic was housed. We had even read a reference to the Black Sun as a “Merovingian symbol.” Why, then, had their been no mention of these subjects in Holy Blood, Holy Grail or The Messianic Legacy? If the subjects of Atlantis and Agartha related to the mystery of the Grail, or that of Rennes-le-Chateau, would not the Priory of Sion have at least hinted at it somewhere along the line?

The answer to this question came when we discovered, on the website, of M. Paul Smith1, his excellent translations of the articles that appeared in Vaincre, the wartime journal published by the Order of Alpha Galates and edited by their Grand Master, Pierre Plantard, supposedly before he joined the Priory of Sion. However, as we’ve said, it is apparent that the Priory and Alpha Galates were one and the same. Vaincre, therefore, is a Priory document. And what these articles said confirmed our suspicions beyond our wildest imaginings.

Alpha Galates, as revealed by Vaincre, obviously believes in Atlantis, and in the Atlantean originn of the French race. In fact, Alpha Galates claims to be perpetuating the Atlantean tradition, which was also practiced, they say, by the Druids. In an article by “Le Comte de Moncharville” entitled The East and the West, it is written that:

“...France, through Brittany, was also familiar with the Atlantean tradition, of which the Druidic cult (with its sacrifices to the Sun, the ceremony of mistletoe, menhirs and dolmens, and institutions of chivalry) is merely the survival. ... When Catholicism chased the Druids out of Gaul, some of the monks collected together the Atlantean traditions and formed the Alpha, which then split into two branches: the Cistercians, who adopted Christianity, and the Chivalric Order of Galate, which preserved the Atlantean tradition.”

De Monarchville’s assertions match those expressed in a book called Preadamites, cited by Ignatius Donnelly’s Atlantis: The Antediluvian World (although the author of the book is nowhere mentioned.) The passage cited reads:

“The Gauls possessed traditions upon the subject of Atlantis which were collected by the Roman historian Timagenes, who lived in the first century before Christ. He represents that three distinct people dwelt in Gaul: 1. The indigenous population, which I suppose to be Mongoloids, who had long dwelt in Europe; 2. The invaders from a distant island, which I understand to be Atlantis; 3. The Aryan Gaul.”2

Another article from Vaincre, entitled The ‘Southern Cross’ - Rallying Point for the Pure of Heart, by Auguste Brisieux, connects Atlantis directly to France, specifically the province of Brittany, and describes in fantastic terms Atlantean civilization, as well as its downfall. It states:

“Lemuria, a small country situated on the ancient continent on Atlantis, of roughly the same size as our Brittany, and which is now no more than the vestige of a thousand years of history, rich in spiritual, moral and intellectual glory, of which the Southern Cross was the national emblem, appears to us today to be shrouded in mystery, a mystery that many legends have helped preserve. In reality, however, this was the Land of Initiates, and whereas we ourselves are still in our infancy the Lemurians already knew about the power of the waves, the laws of the Cosmos and karmic cycles - they knew both how to govern and how to obey... This great continent collapsed into materialism, fell prey to the dark forces, rejected the rule of law, destroyed its temples and[its people] massacred in large numbers, although those who survived succeeded in establishing themselves on our present continent, in our Brittany. But for men, as for nations, the law of karma exists - Atlantis, submerged beneath the putrefying flames, suffered the penalty for its sins. However, the Southern Cross, a constellation of the Southern Hemisphere... remained the happy insignia of the great initiates of the West.”

The symbol of the octopus, which appears on the Blanchefort tombstone and also within the pages of the Priory of Sion’s Secret Dossiers, is another symbol of Atlantis, it seems. It can be found at the end of an article about the Heiron du Val d’Or (translated in Appendix C of this book), and is actually lifted from a book by Paul le Cour called The Age of Aquarius. The article is dated June 24th, 1926, which is the same date upon which the French Magazine Atlantis was founded - a magazine edited by Le Cour, which, it is said, the Priory of Sion published. In The Age of Aquarius, the octopus is referred to as “a symbol of the primitive tradition.” By “primitive”, they probably just mean “original” or “primordial”, for they saw the Atlantean tradition as the most pure. In one of the issues of Vaincre, a quote from Paul Le Cour is included which states: “...When a stream is polluted it is necesary, if you are to find pure water, to go back to the source. It’s the same with tradition - it only remains pure at its origin.” This “stream” of tradition, as you’ll recall, has been named by the Priory of Sion and the Grail families “the underground stream.”

And it is underground where the publishers of Vaincre see the remains of the Atlantean tradition, preserved in subterranean cities populated by an advanced race. In The East and the West, by Le Comte de Moncharville, is a most astounding passage:

“During the mission to Tibet I succeeded in making contact - while I was in Lhasa, in the Forbidden City of Agartha, which is the seat of the Government of the Living Buddha, the ‘Dalai Lama’ - with several monks of the great monastery there. During the several years that my mission to Lhasa lasted I managed to win the confidence and friendship of them all, and I learned what probably no other initiate of the West has ever known, compared to which the famous Secret Doctrine of H.P. Blavatsky seem only a fragment of the truth. When I was on the point of leaving, the monks led me along seemingly interminable staircases carved into the mountain into a veritable underground town located underneath the temples. And there they gave me a glimpse of the collection of objects that had been brought from Atlantis before the catastrophe there.

Then I visited the Sanctuary of the Dragon, where, for the first time since the Orient, I attended a ceremony of a Superior Rite, and finally, during my last few days there, I had the opportunity to contemplate electrical machines of a kind unknown today, which had been brought from Atlantis and which made it possible to impart to the subterranean rooms a light and atmosphere that was exactly the same as that of the open air, which had so surprised me during my first visit to the heart of the mountain. These machines were also used by the ‘Dalai Lama’ to erect around the Forbidden City of Agartha magnetic barriers that prevented undesirable strangers from penetrating therein.”

This underground structure, according to Moncharville, was constructed by “Galatean knights”, precursors of the Knights Templar who were the preservers of the Atlantian tradition, and the originators of chivalry. He writes:

“...they worked the But-Or (‘the Gold Mines’) and constructed below-ground the city of the Alpha, the biggest city in the world, and completed ... the Sanctuary of the Dragon on one of the Mounts of the Dragon. Then, in the year 812, they suddenly disappeared. Some days later, amid a rumble of thunder, the sea covered the places where the last Atlanteans had lived. From this time onward, only one of the Mounts of the Dragon, towering above the waves, remained to provide evidence, through the existence of its sanctuary, of the activities of the Galatean knights.”


Moncharville reveals the location of the Sanctuary to be, once again, the French province of Brittany, and the “Mounts of the Dragon” are actually located on the site currently known as Mount St. Michel (where St. Michael supposedly defeated the infamous Dragon.) Coincidentally, we had already been researching Mt. St. Michel in connection to the Grail mystery years before ever learning of this text. What initially drew our attention there were the assertions made by some that Mt. St. Michel is one of a series of purportedly man-made mountains which form what is called “the St. Michael line”: a series of sacred sites (all named after St. Michael) that stretch from Israel to Britain, forming a line across the map of Europe. They are situated in Jerusalem, Greece, Brittany and Cornwall. Those in England and France are placed far enough off the coast that they constitute islands. Folklore in the south of England states that St. Michael’s Mount was an island actually built in ancient times by giants.3 According to the Priory of Sion’s Dossiers Secrets, Mont. St. Michel in Brittany once served as one of their commandaries. If the Priory’s own claims are to be taken seriously, that means that their own Grand Masters held court inside a subterranean temple built beneath an apparently man-made mountain. Rabbi Reveals Name of the Messiah

Shortly before he died, one of Israel's most prominent rabbis wrote the name of the Messiah on a small note which he requested would remain sealed until now. When the note was opened, it revealed what many have known for centuries: Yehoshua, or Yeshua (Jesus), is the Messiah.

With the biblical name of Jesus, the Rabbi and kabbalist described the Messiah using six words and hinting that the initial letters form the name of the Messiah.

The secret note said:

Concerning the letter abbreviation of the Messiah’s name, He will lift the people and prove that his word and law are valid.

The Hebrew sentence (translated above in bold) with the hidden name of the Messiah reads: Yarim Ha’Am Veyokhiakh Shedvaro Vetorato Omdim

The initials spell the Hebrew name of Jesus, Yehoshua. Yehoshua and Yeshua are effectively the same name, derived from the same Hebrew root of the word “salvation” as documented in Zechariah 6:11 and Ezra 3:2. The same priest writes in Ezra, “Yeshua son of Yozadak” while writing in Zechariah “Yehoshua son of Yohozadak.” The priest adds the holy abbreviation of God’s name, ho, in the father’s name Yozadak and in the name Yeshua.

With one of Israel’s most prominent rabbis indicating the name of the Messiah is Yeshua, it is understandable why his last wish was to wait one year after his death before revealing what he wrote.

When the name of Yehoshua appeared in Kaduri’s message, ultra-Orthodox Jews from his Nahalat Yitzhak Yeshiva (seminary) in Jerusalem argued that their master did not leave the exact solution for decoding the Messiah’s name.

The revelation received scant coverage in the Israeli media. Only the Hebrew websites News First Class (Nfc) and Kaduri.net mentioned the Messiah note, insisting it was authentic. The Hebrew daily Ma'ariv ran a story on the note but described it as a forgery.

Jewish readers responded on the websites' forums with mixed feelings: “So this means Rabbi Kaduri was a Christian?” and “The Christians are dancing and celebrating,” were among the comments.

Israel Today spoke to two of Kaduri’s followers in Jerusalem who admitted that the note was authentic, but confusing for his followers as well. “We have no idea how the Rabbi got to this name of the Messiah,” one of them said.

Yet others completely deny any possibility that the note is authentic. Kaduri’s son, Rabbi David Kaduri, said that at the time the note was written (September 2005), his father’s physical condition made it impossible for him to write.


KADURI'S PORTRAYAL OF THE MESSIAH

A few months before Kaduri died at the age of 108, he surprised his followers when he told them that he met the Messiah. Kaduri gave a message in his synagogue on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, teaching how to recognize the Messiah. He also mentioned that the Messiah would appear to Israel after Ariel Sharon’s death. (The former prime minister is still in a coma after suffering a massive stroke more than a year ago.)

Other rabbis predict the same, including Rabbi Haim Cohen, kabbalist Nir Ben Artzi and the wife of Rabbi Haim Kneiveskzy.

Kaduri’s grandson, Rabbi Yosef Kaduri, said his grandfather spoke many times during his last days about the coming of the Messiah and redemption through the Messiah.

His spiritual portrayals of the Messiah—reminiscent of New Testament accounts—were published on the websites Kaduri.net and Nfc:

“It is hard for many good people in society to understand the person of the Messiah. The leadership and order of a Messiah of flesh and blood is hard to accept for many in the nation. As leader, the Messiah will not hold any office, but will be among the people and use the media to communicate. His reign will be pure and without personal or political desire. During his dominion, only righteousness and truth will reign.

“Will all believe in the Messiah right away? No, in the beginning some of us will believe in him and some not. It will be easier for non-religious people to follow the Messiah than for Orthodox people.

“The revelation of the Messiah will be fulfilled in two stages: First, he will actively confirm his position as Messiah without knowing himself that he is the Messiah. Then he will reveal himself to some Jews, not necessarily to wise Torah scholars. It can be even simple people. Only then he will reveal himself to the whole nation. The people will wonder and say: ‘What, that’s the Messiah?’ Many have known his name but have not believed that he is the Messiah.”


FAREWELL TO A 'TSADIK'

Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri was known for his photographic memory and his memorization of the Bible, the Talmud, Rashi and other Jewish writings. He knew Jewish sages and celebrities of the last century and rabbis who lived in the Holy Land and kept the faith alive before the State of Israel was born.

Kaduri was not only highly esteemed because of his age of 108. He was charismatic and wise, and chief rabbis looked up to him as a Tsadik, a righteous man or saint. He would give advice and blessings to everyone who asked. Thousands visited him to ask for counsel or healing. His followers speak of many miracles and his students say that he predicted many disasters.

When he died, more than 200,000 people joined the funeral procession on the streets of Jerusalem to pay their respects as he was taken to hisfinal resting place.

“When he comes, the Messiah will rescue Jerusalem from foreign religions that want to rule the city,” Kaduri once said. “They will not succeed for they will fight against one another.”


THE RABBI'S FOLLOWERS REACT

In an interview with Israel Today, Rabbi David Kaduri, the 80-year-old son of the late Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri, denied that his father left a note with the name Yeshua just before he died.

“It’s not his writing,” he said when we showed him a copy of the note.

During a nighttime meeting in the Nahalat Yitzhak Yeshiva in Jerusalem, books with the elder Kaduri’s handwriting from 80 years ago were presented to us in an attempt to prove that the Messiah note was not authentic.

When we told Rabbi Kaduri that his father’s official website (www.kaduri.net) had mentioned the Messiah note, he was shocked. “Oh no! That’s blasphemy. The people could understand that my father pointed to him [the Messiah of the Christians].”

David Kaduri confirmed, however, that in his last year, his father had talked and dreamed almost exclusively about the Messiah and his coming. “My father has met the Messiah in a vision,” he said, “and told us that he would come soon.”

Israel Today was given access to many of the rabbi's manuscripts, written in his own hand for the exclusive use of his students. Most striking were the cross-like symbols painted by Kaduri all over the pages. In the Jewish tradition, one does not use crosses. In fact, even the use of a plus sign is discouraged because it might be mistaken for a cross.

But there they were, scribbled in the rabbi's own hand. When we asked what those symbols meant, Rabbi David Kaduri said they were “signs of the angel." Pressed further about the meaning of the “signs of the angel," he said he had no idea. Rabbi David Kaduri went on to explain that only his father had had a spiritual relationship with God and had met the Messiah in his dreams.

Orthodox Jews around the Nahalat Yitzhak Yeshiva told Israel Today a few weeks later that the story about the secret note of Rabbi Kaduri should never have come out, and that it had damaged the name the revered old sage.

Every now and then there is a "glitch in the Matrix" - and someone in a position of influence lets the curtain drop, and reveals insider secrets.

Three years ago, one of our clients alerted us to a stunning Rush Limbaugh broadcast that aired on March 4, 2004. Had this been covered by the mainstream media and discussed with any seriousness, it could well have pierced the veil of UFO secrecy and led to some form of open disclosure.

Some cynics will simply say that Rush was “joking,” that the whole thing was an elaborate tongue-in-cheek attack against former VP Gore - a Democrat, and their whole platform of man-made Global Warming - tying it in with fringe elements like “Area 52”, UFOs and Martians. “Return to your homes, folks, nothing to see here.”

However, the problem may be that in order to do good “disinformation,” you actually have to introduce some lies in to what you are saying! Rush might not have done that. His data correlates with a variety of other pieces we have put together, and this seems more than just an accident. This could explain why the insiders were not willing to “run with the ball” and acknowledge his “joke”. It was too dangerous - and might get the public asking the ‘wrong’ questions.

We first found out about it on March 15th, and by that point, any transcript of the show had already been “sanitized” from the Internet. Our client said this started within days of the broadcast. There were a few places left where you could read it, but only in the Google cache - and once those had cleared, it was gone for good. Three years later, the most detailed searches turn up absolutely no record of it ever having happened.

Keep that in mind before rushing to judgment (pun intended!) about it being “nothing more than a joke”, to ease the psychological pressure that might otherwise result. Survey the evidence supporting the TRUTH of what he said after we show you the transcript. And ask yourself why OTHER broadcasts were NOT removed from his website so quickly… only this one?

Overall, this may well be an Illuminati insider revealing some of their deepest secrets - including the total obsession with the bloodlines of the elite, a subject invariably brought up by every single whistleblower you find - and his bosses were NOT laughing. No indication was given on the webpage, or in the broadcast, of it ever being a joke, as you’ll see for yourself - and it was not April Fool’s Day.

When we first heard this astonishing broadcast, and read the transcript, we were really in a bind as to whether we should disclose it or not. For whatever reason, we decided not to. Such has been the case with much of the material you are now reading in "The Revealing".


We’ve finally decided that now is the time to come forward with this fascinating story. Our contact heard the show when it was first broadcast - apparently he liked to keep an eye on the “loyal opposition” - and he saved a copy of the HTM file from Rush’s website on his hard drive. We received this file in an email on March 15, 2004, along with a digital copy of the audio that weighed in at about 1MB.

Though the HTM file did not include any of the original site graphics, it did still have a complete transcript of what Rush said. Even better, there was a link in the original HTM file to a streaming Windows Media Player version of the audio - and even though the HTM file would soon disappear from the Internet completely, the audio link still worked.

Now here is the really incredible part…

On a whim, we decided to try the audio link in the original HTM file of the transcript from Rush's website. And even now, three years later, this audio STILL EXISTS on Rush's server… and it WORKS!!!

At the time of this writing, you can still listen to this broadcast yourself… straight from the source! Only when you hear the audio yourself can you make out how distressed Rush might be about what he is saying.

Even though the mind of any skeptic automatically leads them to believe Rush was “just being funny,” (as otherwise this event makes no sense to a skeptic whatsoever, and they must maintain their “grip” on “reality” at all costs,) there are at least two places where it sounds as if he is in tears as he is telling the story. You can hear distinct stress patterns in his voice as he is “telling the joke”.

It could be that he was severely warned against talking, but couldn’t handle the pressure of having to keep such explosive inside information a secret. He probably figures that everyone in “the herd” is SO clueless that he could drop this amazing disclosure and nothing would happen. Not everyone liked his sense of humor, apparently, as it was quickly struck off the official record… like so many other aspects of secrecy we are all now seeing on a daily basis.

We can well assume that he was "visited" after this broadcast, and given healthy threats about what would happen to him, and his family, if he ever mentioned it again. Living with such a secret, and such a threat, may even explain an increase in his drug and alcohol consumption. His staff obviously were not ‘in the know’ enough to see that he’d made a mistake, and cranked out the transcript before it had time to be buried down the 'memory hole'.

WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT ANYTHING RUSH LIMBAUGH SAYS?

Why is this story so important? Quite simple. Rush Limbaugh came forward, on March 4, 2004, and told his listeners that he gained access to a "highly classified" top-secret document from NASA saying that Mars was once inhabited with human life, that they destroyed their planet, some of them survived and migrated to Earth.

Even more incredibly, he implies that NASA has sent secret missions to Mars and recovered DNA samples from deceased human corpses - and the DNA from these corpses "compares favorably to members of the Skull and Bones society here on Earth" - as well as top members of Halliburton, Enron, WorldCom and Boeing - each of which are companies associated with the 'Illuminati'.

Yes. If you're thinking that all the dots connect up to an "Illuminati Bloodline," then you're on the right track, my friend. As we’ve seen in Parts One and Two, these people are OBSESSED with bloodlines. So look beyond the spin and see what most people would gloss over in ignorant laughter.


CAMERON'S 'TOMB OF JESUS' APPEARS TO BE A FRAUD… PREPPING THE PUBLIC FOR "THE REVEALING"

What you are about to read may be the deeper, hidden level of the story of the "Holy Grail" that is probably NOT ever planned for public disclosure - hence the immediate silencing of Rush Limbaugh, and any trace of this story, after he spilled the beans. …with a group of coffins whose names (also very common for the time) matched up with the rest of his alleged family. Add in some fake ‘Jesus dust’ with DNA that “compares favorably to members of the Skull and Bones society”, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for global takeover. Or so they think. Yet, if the public buys into Cameron’s story, and enough people believe it, (with the Da Vinci Code book and film as a foreshadowing of the eventual disclosure,) they could take the DNA from the tomb, analyze it and have it "compare favorably to members of the Skull and Bones society" - exactly as Limbaugh only half-jokingly claims they have already done with DNA from Mars!

And, Limbaugh’s statements were three years BEFORE this apparent Illuminati Endgame - forced to the surface due to the pressure of an expected event in 2012 - ever became visible.

Let's not forget that if you've been reading this article since Part One, you know that the "Illuminati" is a worldwide group, consisting of those at the top of the power structure, who believe themselves to be superior to most humans - to the point that they can invoke the so-called "Divine Right of Kings."

They have been planning to create an economic collapse that would soften up the public for their rule - ideally in the form of a "bloodless surrender" - so they can create the "New World Order" that they have been expecting for so long.

If Rush Limbaugh were to come forward and reveal their innermost secrets - including how they feel themselves to be the blood descendants of ancient "Gods" who came to earth - then it could very well disrupt the timelines of this planned disclosure, and thus would need to be silenced at all costs. RUSH: As I mentioned recently, ladies and gentlemen, after reviewing data from one of the Mars Rovers, NASA, big press conference the other day, concluded that Mars was once drenched with enough water to "support life in a good, habitable environment." I mean, this is incredible discovery and NASA is still had to go out there and say that there's no proof that life existed. All they said was that conditions were there for there to be life. But this is not all NASA said, ladies and gentlemen. There's a lot that is not being discussed here, as a powerful, influential member of the media, I know more than you do. Especially about this.

I have seen a highly classified report that has not been released publicly and it probably won't be unless you consider my talking about it here to be releasing it publicly. It's a top secret report, code name The Gore Report. It was prepared by scientists from Area 52 in New Mexico, and they analyzed the Mars data and there's some findings in this report, and I can understand why they don't want to release this, and I don't know it all, but I want to pass off what some of The Gore Report says.

There was life on Mars, that's what NASA is not being up front, there was life, everybody knows it. We can't be the only people occupying the universe. It's impossible. Who do we think we are? The only people God created - sorry, for those of you who don't believe in God - only people who evolved from apes?

So it's clear that there was life elsewhere and now that NASA has kind of let the cat out of the bag, if there were habitable conditions up there we know there was life there. In fact, they found some DNA evidence up there that compares favorably to members of the Skull and Bones Society here on earth.

Probably, I don't know this, probably wasn't any campaign finance reform to restrict the corruption in their elective circumstances there, and so special interest groups and multinationals who escaped taxes by, you know, forming offshore accounts.

There's no coincidence to the fact that they found water, lots of water where habitable conditions were because it dovetails with what's in the report about some of these multinationals abandoning their own countries and locating offshore for all of the nefarious reasons.

They had rain forests. You don't hear about this. They had ancient rain forests; they had jungles; they had so much oil and gas; they had reserves out the wazoo.

I saw the skeletons, at least I saw the fossils of the skeletons. There were people there, or there were beings there, but it looked like Pompeii, looked like these people all died huddled together, and it was just swarmed and in an instant.

You know, they were one day there and then gone. So many people living close together, it has to have been the result of urban sprawl. Nobody had any space, nobody had any room, and I saw it from the pictures that they released.

It's clear, ladies and gentlemen. Mars was once the jewel of the solar system, and it was raped. Mars was raped. This is what NASA knows. This is what The Gore Report says. That might explain why we have not found any other areas on Mars that are as highly developed as Cydonia, with its giant pyramids and symmetrical monument in the shape of a human face.

It does make sense that if Mars was suffering from climate change, certain regions would stay pristine the longest - like the Los Angeles / coastal area being the only part of Southern California that is not now a desert, or the fact that most of the entire continent of Australia is a bleak, barren desert except for the very edges.]

But the elites got off, the elites were able to travel in space. There weren’t very many of them, but they were able to get off. They fled the planet in time.

The stunning thing about the Mars report, The Gore Report, is that they’re here. These people that destroyed Mars are here, they are on earth, folks.

WASHINGTON DC - A MIRROR OF ‘CYDONIA’ ON MARS?

Is this just a big, steaming pile of BS, a sign of Rush’s quick-thinking comic genius through irony, satire and sarcasm? If there were no other evidence to the contrary, you might think so. Nonetheless, there is very clear evidence supporting the idea that Rush may have been telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth - only changing a few names to attack the innocent.

This brings us to yet another piece of the puzzle I’ve been holding onto all these years, and am only now revealing.

A 1999 analysis by Daniel Perez presented an astonishing discovery that links the US government directly to the Cydonia complex on Mars. Officially the appearance of gigantic, two-mile-wide ‘Monuments’ on this Martian plateau is just the result of a “trick of light and shadow”.

If you have taken the time to survey the evidence, see the symmetry of the Face, see the pentagon-shaped design of the nearby ‘D&M Pyramid’ and study the extensive geometric alignments of the whole area, then you might not be so easily hoodwinked back into the slumber of mainstream ‘consensus’ reality.

Remember I mentioned a five-sided pyramid? Think for a minute… is there any comparable building like that in America?

But of course, the two could not be related in any way. Of course not. That would be ridiculous.

Or would it? Assume for a minute that you have inherited ancient maps of this most unique area of Mars. Would there not be a huge temptation to pay homage to it here on Earth somehow - using ancient science to create a mirror of Heaven while still on Earth?

Try this. Try lining up the Pentagon in DC with the pentagon in Cydonia, Mars. Get all the ends tight. Make it a perfect geometric fit. Leave no overlaps.

Then, look at the maps together. Make sure it’s just a coincidence. Make sure there are no other connections. Obviously there wouldn’t be, because the Cydonia complex isn’t even real - and this whole thing is just delusional.

OK, just for fun, let’s try it. Take the layout of Washington DC and superimpose it over the Cydonia region of Mars, by lining up the five-sided pentagon on Mars with the Pentagon building in Arlington. Does anything jump out? Probably not, but let’s make sure…

The Theology of the Gospel of Thomas


The introduction also says, "These are the secret sayings that the living Jesus spoke..." By using the word "secret" the author is telling you that these sayings are not for everyone's ears. These are the secret teachings that are only for a special chosen few — the solitary elect or monachos in Greek (which is where we get the word "Monk" from). Furthermore, they are the "secret" teachings of the "living Jesus." The term living Jesus is to distinguish the dualism of the mortal man — Jesus of Nazareth — and the immortal divine being living inside him. The living Jesus would be a pre-existent godly being conceptually similar to the Logos in the Gospel of John.

The theological framework for the Gospel of Thomas is determined by its cosmological outlook. The cosmology of the Gospel of Thomas is extremely dualistic. For Thomas there are only two realms of existence: the material realm and the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is a blissful reality of goodness, life, and light; it is the Kingdom of the Father. The material realm is a reality of evil, death, and darkness. From Thomas' point of view, the material world is the world of death ruled over by the Lion (possibly a reference to the lion-headed Yaldabaoth in classically Gnostic literature) and his minions or rulers.

While most people in this material world, according to this ancient belief, are lifeless, soulless beings (little more than animated corpses) created to serve the Lion and his rulers; a few people are actually spiritual beings in disguise. These chosen few — though clothed in a mortal body — are actually immortal pre-existent beings of light and Children of the Living Father who have become intoxicated and fallen asleep under the weight of the material world and its vices. These solitary elect, upon hearing the words of the Living Jesus, will then shake off their slumber and — upon the death of the material body — will return to the Kingdom of the Father.

In this way, the theology of Thomas is not that different from the theological concepts within the canonical Gospel of John. In fact, in most ways the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Thomas are very similar. However, this is where the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Thomas part.

While the Gospel of John clearly has a strong accent on a future eschaton in which the risen Jesus overthrows the ruler of this world, Thomas believes that the eschaton is already happening. Also, while John clearly preaches the belief in a bodily resurrection, Thomas claims that the body will never inherit life. Rather, for Thomas, the resurrection is a spiritual one.

Perhaps the best summary of the theology of the Gospel of Thomas is found in the Hymn of the Pearl or the Hymn of the Apostle Thomas — which is found within the Acts of Thomas.

In the Hymn of the Pearl a young prince is sent by his father in the east (East, in antiquity, was seen as symbolic of light and life) to Egypt in the west (West was seen as symbolic of death) in which lies a great pearl guarded by the dragon. The prince puts on the clothes of the Egyptians, so as not to be recognized as a foreigner. However, the dragon learns of the prince and gets the prince to eat the heavy food of the Egyptians. After eating the Egyptian food the prince falls asleep and forgets who he is. He believes himself to be an Egyptian, when in fact he is really a prince from the East.

When the prince's father, the king, hears of his son's capture, he sends a personified message to his son reminding him who he is and where he is from. Upon hearing the message, the prince shakes off his drunkenness, defeats the dragon, takes the pearl, removes the Egyptian clothes and returns to his home in the East.

The Philosophy of the Gospel of Thomas

In the Thomas gospel, Jesus is a spiritual teacher, and he is offering everyone the opportunity to live (Saying 4) a life that goes beyond death (Saying 1), to become the ruler of their own lives (Saying 2) and thus to know themselves (Saying 3) and their legacy of being the children of "the living Father" (Saying 3). These goals are presented in the image of "entering the Kingdom" by the methodology of insight that goes beyond duality. (Saying 22).

The Gospel of Thomas shows no concern for doctrines such as "God", "original sin", "Christ", "divinity," etc.

The Gospel of Thomas is mystical and emphasizes a direct and unmediated experience of the truth of life. In Thomas v.108, Jesus said, "Whoever drinks from my mouth will become as I am; I myself shall become that person, and the hidden things will be revealed to him." Furthermore, salvation is personal and found through spiritual (psychological) introspection.

In Thomas v.70, Jesus says, "If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you do not bring it forth, what you do not have within you will kill you." As such, this form of salvation is idiosyncratic and without literal explanation unless read from a psychological perspective related to Self vs. ego. In Thomas v.3, Jesus says,[24]

...the Kingdom of God is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty, and it is you who are that poverty.

In the other four gospels, Jesus is frequently called upon to explain the meanings of parables or the correct procedure for prayer. In Thomas v.6, his disciples asked him, "Do you want us to fast? How should we pray? Should we give to charity? What diet should we observe?" For reasons unknown, Jesus' answer is found in v. 14 and he emphasizes that what is encountered in the world will not defile a person but what comes out from the mouth will.[25]

This is just one example in Thomas in which the hearer's attention is directed away from objectified judgements of the world to knowing oneself in direct and straighforward manner, which is sometimes called being "as a child" or "a little one" through the unification of our dualistic thinking and modes of objectification. (For example, Sayings 22[26] and 37[27]) To protray the breaking down of the dualistic perspective Jesus uses the image of fire which consumes all. (See, Sayings 10[28] and 82[29]).

The teaching of salvation (i.e., entering the Kingdom of Heaven) that is found in The Gospel of Thomas is neither that of "works" nor of "grace" as the dicotomy is found in the canonical gospels, but what might be called a third way, that of insight. The overriding concern of The Gospel of Thomas is to find the light within in order to be a light unto the world. (See for example, Sayings 24[30], 26[31])

In contrast to the Gospel of John, where Jesus is likened to a (divine and beloved) Lord as in ruler, the Thomas gospel portrays Jesus as more the ubiquitous vehicle of mystical inspiration and enlightenment. In Thomas v. 77 where Jesus said,

I am the light that shines over all things. I am everywhere. From me all came forth, and to me all return.
Split a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift a stone, and you will find me there,

In many other respects, the Thomas gospel offers terse yet familiar if not identical accounts of the sayings of Jesus as seen in the synoptic gospels.[32]

Elaine Pagels, in her book Beyond Belief, argues that the Thomas gospel at first fell victim to the needs of the early Christian community for solidarity in the face of persecution, then to the will of the Emperor Constantine, who at the First Council of Nicaea in 325, wanted an end to the sectarian squabbling and a universal Christian creed. She goes on to point out that in spite of it being left out of the Catholic canon, being banned and sentenced to burn, many of the mystical elements have proven to reappear perennially in the works of mystics like Jacob Boehme, Teresa of Avila and Saint John of the Cross (as long as they did not deny the uniqueness and divinity of Jesus). She concludes that the Thomas gospel gives us a rare glimpse into the diversity of beliefs in the early Christian community, an alternative perspective to the Johannine gospel and a check on what many modern Christians take for granted as being heretical.

However the church at large considers the Thomas gospel not as a reflection of "Christian diversity" but as an example of one of the early heresies that attacked the church. Writings like the Thomas gospel motivated the Roman Catholic church to define its long-held canon and belief in the death and resurrection of Christ in the four gospels which formed the heart of the message proclaimed by the early church in the book of Acts.

An astonishing new book claims that a decade before he was crucified, Jesus sailed here on a trading ship and found inspiration in his Cornish idyll...

ITS ROUSING chorus has echoed around Brit­ish churches for nearly 100 years; William Blake’s Jerusalem is a hymn about the legend that Jesus once came to Britain.

In it Blake asks if Jesus ever walked upon England’s “mountains green”, words inspired by the myth that a man called Jesus wandered through British vill­ages a decade before He was crucified. But now a book suggests those words point to a truth hidden for centuries.

By collating stories from local legends, architectural evi­dence from two ancient churches and analysing letters from our earliest historians, author Glyn Lewis believes the tale of Jesus’s visit to Britain is true.

The key to it all is Jesus’s family. Joseph of Arimathea, Jesus’s uncle, was a metal trader who travelled Europe. He was a trustworthy businessman – in Mark 15:43 he is described as an “honourable counsellor”.

“Joseph of Arima­thea almost certainly came here to buy tin in Cornwall and copper and lead in Somerset,” says Lewis, author of Did Jesus Come To Britain? “In the Bible Joseph of Arimathea approached Pon­tius Pilate for Jesus’s body after the crucifixion.

The law then stated that only a close relative could have done this, which shows he and Jesus clearly knew each other well. Pilate also gave Joseph time in a meeting, which showed he wasn’t just ‘anybody’ but a respected member of the community.”

It is interesting that both places in Britain where Joseph traded have legends saying that another man, namely Jesus, was once there. Lewis estimates that when He came to Britain Jesus was aged 12 to 28. He was crucified aged 30.

Miners’ songs in Corn­wall mention Joseph and Jesus and folk songs from Somerset also tell of the days where He walked among the people of Glastonbury.

“Britain is one of the very few countries that has songs and hymns about Jesus being here,” Lewis explains. “There are so many that it just seems strange they would all be fictional.”

Carols like I Saw Three Ships mention Christ sailing into the country. Lewis says they are “un-likely to be fanciful” because they “survived in the canon of carols”.

It is, however, difficult to find concrete evidence. “We have no written history until about the 6th century when famed histor­ian Gildas started writing but I think he refers to Jesus’s time in this country.” St Gildas, who lived from AD516 to AD710 wrote that: “Christ afforded His light to our island during the height of the reign of Tiberius Caesar.”

Here is what is known about Jesus’s possible route here. He either set off from the Palestinian ports of Tyre or Sidon, though Tyre is more likely as it is mentioned in the Bible that Jesus healed a sick girl there. Then the ship would have sailed through the Mediterr­anean and Straits of Gibraltar.

Bearing north through the Straits of Biscay, it sailed into the Channel, where winds took it to the Cornish coast, Joseph’s first stop along his trade route.

There were rich seams of tin to be found in mines near Penzance, one of them being the Ding Dong mine near Penwith, Cornwall’s oldest, where, Lewis says, Jesus and His uncle talked to miners and shared food and drink.

Near Truro stands St Anthony in Roseland church, a pretty, steepled building which looks like many others of its era. It is not until the hieroglyphic carvings around the 1,000 year-old arched south door are examined that its secret is revealed. An analysis of their meaning by an archaeologist in the Seventies revealed striking results. Lewis writes: “He interpreted the pictographs as telling of Jesus’s birth and his visit to Cornwall.”

A more detailed analysis of the pictures tells us even more about Jesus’s life. “The lamb and the cross face the rising
sun, meaning that he was here in his early life. Because it is on the left of the centre line it indicates He was here just before the turn of the year, probably December.”

If the inscription is real, according to Lewis, “this arch is one of the few ancient records that exist to support the legend that Jesus visited Britain”. The inscription also reveals that Jesus and Joseph had, while sailing into the port, encountered difficulties in their boat.

Lewis thinks that if they had been shipwrecked they would have “erected a shrine to give thanks for their deliverance from the sea” and this shrine is where St Anthony’s church is today.

If Jesus and His uncle landed in Cornwall they would have gone on to Somerset. This was a well-established route for metal traders like Joseph and he would have sailed his ship around the Cornish coast and moored near Burnham or Uphill in Somerset. Lewis writes, they “might have called in at the mouth of the Camel estuary in Cornwall” to replenish supplies of food and water. There remains to this day a well on this harbour which legend has it was where Christ and His uncle stopped.

“On the bleak, windswept downs of St Winver, where one would hardly expect to find fresh water, there is a well known as the Jesus well,” Lewis writes. “It’s unusual to find water on the headland and it’s the only well that bears His name in the country.”

The St Joseph’s Chapel in Glastonbury Abbey is where, according to myth, Joseph later brought the Holy Grail, the cup from which Christ drank at the Last Supper. It too has a connection to Christ’s time in Britain.

“Jesus had links to the Druids,” Lewis says. “I believe He stayed a while in Glastonbury to study for his ministry. While Joseph was trading I think Jesus found people in Glastonbury, a seat of Druid learning, who thought much like He did.”

The Druids believed in one God and the Holy Trinity. More importantly, they searched for a saviour, whom they called Yesu.

“I think He stayed there for a while to study. I certainly think He was away from Nazareth for some time because in the gospel when He returns people don’t recognise Him and He’s far wiser upon His return so they also ask Him where he obtained His learning.”

After the crucifixion Joseph came to Britain in fear for his life because he had entombed Jesus’s body. He built a chapel on the site of Jesus’s Glaston­bury home, which is today a church bearing the name of St Joseph. This chapel was seen by St Augustine, who was sent to Britain by Pope Gregory the Great to convert people to Christianity. In 597 he described a church “constructed by no human art but by the hands of Christ himself”.

Lewis says: “The facts do come together and I’ve come to the conclusion that, yes, He did come here. It doesn’t conflict at all with the gospel stories and I think it’s important for Britain to have this myth. To think that Christ came here in His formative years makes Britain a holy land.”

If Joseph had been there before the Roman Conquest of Britain, it is quite likely that he could have brought some of his relations with him, and his young nephew would have been ideal. King Arthur's messianic return is an aspect of the legend of King Arthur, the mythical 6th-century British king. Few historical records of Arthur remain, and there are doubts that he ever existed, but he achieved a mythological stature that gave rise to a growing literature about his life and deeds. One recurrent aspect of Arthurian literature was the notion that he would one day return in the role of a messiah to save his people.

The possibility of Arthur's return is first mentioned by William of Malmesbury in the early 12th century: "But Arthur’s grave is nowhere seen, whence antiquity of fables still claims that he will return." As Constance Bullock-Davies demonstrated, this belief in Arthur's eventual messianic return was extremely widespread amongst the Britons from the 12th century onwards. How much earlier than this it existed is still debated – it was often linked to the expulsion of the English and Normans from Britain.

This did, in fact, remain a powerful aspect of the Arthurian legend through the medieval period and beyond. So John Lydgate in his Fall of Princes (1431–8) notes the belief that Arthur "shall resorte as lord and sovereyne Out of fayrye and regne in Breteyne" and Philip II of Spain apparently swore, at the time of his marriage to Mary Tudor in 1554, that he would resign the kingdom if Arthur should return.

A number of locations were suggested for where Arthur would actually return from. The earliest-recorded suggestion was Avalon. Geoffrey of Monmouth asserted that Arthur "was mortally wounded" at Camlann but was then carried "to the Isle of Avallon (insulam Auallonis) to be cured of his wounds", with the implication that he would at some point be cured and return therefrom made explicit in Geoffrey's later Vita Merlini

Another tradition held that Arthur was awaiting his return beneath some mountain or hill. First referenced by Gervase of Tilbury in his Otia Imperialia (c.1211), this was maintained in British folklore into the 19th century and Loomis and others have taken it as a tale of Arthur's residence in an underground (as opposed to an overseas) Otherworld. Other less common concepts include the idea that Arthur was absent leading the Wild Hunt, or that he had been turned into a crow or raven.

This idea of Arthur's eventual return has proven attractive to a number of modern writers. John Masefield used the idea of Arthur sleeping under a hill as the central theme in his poem Midsummer Night (1928). C. S. Lewis also was inspired by this aspect of Arthur's legend in his novel That Hideous Strength (1945), in which King Arthur was said to be living in the land of Abhalljin on the planet Venus. Finally, Mike Barr and Brian Bolland have Arthur and his knights returning in the year 3000 to save the Earth from an alien invasion in the comic book series Camelot 3000 (1982–85).[9]

The influence of Arthur's legend is not confined to novels, stories and films; the legend of Arthur's messianic return has often been politically influential. On the one hand it seems to have provided a means of rallying Welsh resistance to Norman incursions in the 12th century and afterwards; on the other, the notion of Arthur's eventual return to rule a united Britain was adopted by the Plantagenet kings to justify their rule.

Once King Arthur had been safely pronounced dead and buried at Glastonbury, in an attempt to deflate Welsh dreams of a genuine Arthurian return, the Plantagenets were then able to make ever greater use of Arthur as a political cult to support their dynasty and its ambitions. So, Richard I used his status as the inheritor of Arthur's realm to shore up foreign alliances, giving a sword reputed to be Excalibur to Tancred of Sicily.

Similarly, 'Round Tables' – jousting and dancing in imitation of Arthur and his knights – occurred at least 8 times in England between 1242 and 1345, including one held by Edward I in 1284 to celebrate his conquest of Wales and consequent 're-unification' of Arthurian Britain. The Galfridian claim that Arthur conquered Scotland was also used by Edward I to provide legitimacy to his claims of English suzerainty over that region.

The influence of King Arthur on the political machinations of England's kings was not confined to the medieval period: the Tudors also found it expedient to make use of Arthur. In 1485 Henry VII marched through Wales to take the English throne under the banner of the Arthurian Red Dragon, he commissioned genealogies to show his putative decent from Arthur, and named his first-born son Arthur. Later, in the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth, Arthur's career was influential once again, now in providing evidence for supposed historical rights and territories in legal cases that pursued the crown's interests. Whilst the potential for such political usage – wherein the reality of Geoffrey's Arthur and his wide-ranging conquests was accepted and proclaimed by English antiquarians and thus utilised by the crown – naturally declined after the attacks on Geoffrey's Historia by Polydore Vergil and others, Arthur has remained an occasionally politically potent figure through to the present era. In the 20th Century, a comparison of John F. There are however other one or two other artifacts identified with people around Arthur. The Tristan stone in Cornwall which once stood near Castle Dore but was more recently moved to the roadside near Fowey is inscribed in Latin translating as 'Here lies Tristan the son of Marcus Cunomorus (King Mark of Cornwall)' The stone has been dated to about 550 AD which means that this Tristan lived at the same time as Arthur was supposed to have lived!!!
Personally I believe that Camelot was located somewhere near the river Camel in Cornwall. It is perhaps no coincidence that Camelford and the river Camel are only located a few miles from Tintagel where 5th Century ruins lie and the Arthur stone was excavated in 1998.
As in all things the legend has become far greater than the man but there is no real doubt in my mind that he existed.....
