I just woke up from some very intense dreams, only I didn't awake in the usual way where you gradually slip from dream consciousness to waking consciousness. It was an explosion, a blinding flash of light with a huge bang, like an electrical explosion, definitley electrical and it scared the shit out of me, BANG! fuck! Back in my body.
Anyway I thought this unusual so I thought I would post it here to see if anyone else has ever had this.
BTW the dream I was in before the explosion was quite intense as well. There was a cyclone or massive storm brewing on the horizon and I was running around warning people and telling them find shelter. The storm never hit, it just sat brewing dark and ominous on the horizon, then I exploded back in to my body. Not too happy about it as well as my body is a little bit hungover today after a very big night.:o

I've had a few dreams where I'm about to die or something and right at the moment where I'd die I'd shoot up and be instantly awake and chock full of adrenaline. One time I was falling off a cliff... makes you wonder what happens when we die here. I mean, in the dream it usually all seems 100% real...
Oh yeah, had a lucid dream once and there was this cliff, I jumped off it and landed at the bottom no problem since I realized it wasn't real.

I have similar dreams, I call them falling off my bike dreams(not exactly sure why) where something similar to what you described happens and you wake with a start, these normally happen to me when I have just gone to sleep and haven't reached REM yet, like your bodies not ready for it yet.
What happened this morning was vey unusual though, I never woken like that before that I can remember.

Last spring I began having very intense dreams and some were quite frightening, this lasted for about a month. I can remember 2 dreams that had very scary physical effects and shocked me. The first was a dream went like this, I was in my room was disturbed in the middle of the night by loud crashing sounds, I got of bed and headed for the stairs and peered down and in my living room a large dark silhouette was thrashing about tossing furniture. Soon it began to make its way towards the stairs and my mother warned me it was coming. It moved silently as if it was floating and I fled to my bedroom and hid in the covers. It entered and I was terrified but I heard my mothers voice calling in my head 'remember the warmth' and a blue light emanated from my chest and my body glowed bright blue then this light expanded into the whole room and I felt safe. Immediately I awoke almost jumping out of bed. I was extremely confused and my heart was pumping rapidly and I noticed that my ear was ringing and it continued to ring for about 2-3 days. This bothered me alot.
The next dream occured while I was watching my uncles dogs while he was away. I had moved about during the night tossing and turning and went to the main bedroom at about 7 oclock am and flopped into the bed going right to sleep. I remember being in and out of dreams until I remember hearing a loud cracking/wind rushing sound and I had this strange vision, eyes closed, of a misty grey blue and purple space. Soon a fluttering/ heavy panting sound grew louder and louder until I a shape began to appear and the shape was flapping like a flying animal or bat and it came closer and closer until that sound the cracking sound happened again. I opened my eyes and looked at the foot of the bed, and soon a translucent figure began to appear and the face looked like my grandfathers who had died a few years before. But i was extremely frightened and his eyes were simply black shadows. I tried to move in terror, but I could not move at all, I whimpered a bit as i tried to move but I was frozen. It was as if this being was draining me. One of the dogs must of heard me and jumped onto the bed, and I sprang up and it was over. My heart was pumping but I managed to calm myself and get back to sleep.
I have had similar dreams of dark beings stalking me and then being unable to move which usually makes me spring awake frightened. I wonder why this happens or who the beings that inhabit my dreams are.

According to Stuart Wilde if you sleep more than four hours a night you become food for the ghouls, especially if you over sleep. Normally those dreams you have after you awake normally and decide to go back to sleep are the most intense and draining.

i originally posted this in another page on here but thought it worth sharing again .I kept dream journals for over 7 years .One of my first sleep paralysis type experiences happened when i was talking to a wizard and i was being a bit disrespectful so he said to show his power i wouldnt be able to move for some time on waking , go on now wake upand see he said.I laughed at him but woke immediately and couldnt move for about ten minutes when i gradually began to get sensation back in my body , i wasnt laughing then , i dont feel this being was malevoulent like the shadow man .
The grinning shadow man with no face .I first saw it in broad daylight as a child , when an orange lodge band marched passed in the road next to mine .I was about 6 or 7 years old .Hearing the band i went to investigate .If you know the orange lodge order have people who twirl batons in the air and catch them at the front of the [parade and often have people dressed as william of orange there as well.Anyway i thought the sun was behind the front man dressed in frock coat tricorn hat etc as he threw the baton up He turned slowly to look at me .He was completly black like oil black .Although he had no features he was grinning malevolently at me,i ran very fast lol.Tried to explain to mum who was a catholic who said oh its just the orange lodge marching .Years later on coming back into my body from an astral projection several occasions i had the same shadowman stood in the corner of the bedroom only this time he was dressed gangster style suit and trilby hat still liquid oil features and same grin .15 years on from that i had a past life regression hypnosis >With some time to spare the hypnotist asked if there was anything in my present life i would like to explore .I mentioned the experience and was taken back .A very good friend of mine who had been brought up protestant in ireland had died a few years previous ,during the session the shadow man turned into him and his body became light as he walked away he said to me it was only a manifestation of your own fear and shadow self.!! :D

Sometimes when Im falling asleep I see bright white flashes like lightning on the exact moment that I am about to nod off, but it wakes me up. It makes a very unusual noise too, kind of like a fog horm is being set off inside of me, very loud.

I can't recall specific dreams, but have definitely noticed that they are weird & disturbing once I've woken up & gone back to sleep again. I hadn't thought of the connection before, but it jumped out at me when I read this. Very weird.
Ive had this too. Usually it's when I havn't slept for most of the night then I fall asleep in the last few hours before I have to get up. These dreams are the most vivid ones I get. They are really fun sometimes because I'm aware that Im actually dreaming and i can make it go anywhere I want with a bit of practice. I see bright colors that Ive never seen before in waking life, it's great.
But this doesn't happen all that often.

OMG!! jimjams!! I cant believe you had this same experience too!! Last summer i was really hot so i decided to sleep on the sofa as it was late (3am)and i didnt want to disturb the other half too!! I switched everything off (tv,computer, lights etc) and snuggled up on the sofa with my face towards the back of the sofa- i was just drifting off when suddenly a huge BANG like an extreme surge of static (with a staticy sound) very loudly woke me, like it surged through me- at the same time it was accompanied by a huge flash of light (despite my eyes being shut and i was facing the back of the sofa) the light was so bright like someone flashed a lighthouse bulb in my face!! I woke so startled, i was scared, my heart was beating ten to the dozen i thought at one point i was going to have a heart attack!! I was paralised for a few minutes too frightened to move - i had no idea what happened- what it was!! and to this day i have never understood what it was- im so pleased to find someone who has had this same experience- my other half tried to explain it away with 'static build up from the tv or computer' but there's no way it could've been that- the amount of energy that created would have blown the tv to pieces! Needless to say once i had calmed my heart-rate i went upstairs for a well deserved cuddle!! LOL!! I'd love to know what it was!!

Yes had lot's of this kind of thing happen, could be the astral body returning from dreamworld and has enterd the physical body to fast causing the electric shock effect!
I had the feeling of a hand tapping me on the back of my head, it felt so real i woke up jumped out of bed couldn't see anything but the hairs on my body stood on end and i had a feeling of an electic current running through my body maybe adrenline.
I've had vivid dreams then woke up like turning on a light wide awake heart pounding not being able to move, then heard voices and seen shadowy figures at the foot side of bed and sometimes above me. All i could do is look at them and hope they would dissapear after less than a minute thery are gone, it's scarey! I don't like looking around the room anymore when i wake up and feel a presence near me.
This hasn't happened for months now. I visualised white light spoken physically and used telepathy to tell them to go away.
Athough I hve had visions of angels ( good spirits) you can tell by the vibes.
very colourfull strands of light eminating from them.

Hi Snog
I remember this about them now too. It's almost like you can direct them wherever you want to go to a certain extent. I also recall that even though they're disturbing when you wake up, at the time they seem almost enjoyable & you don't really want to wake up but you do know that you're only dreaming & it's not real. It's only when you do come round & analyse them that they seem weird & distorted.
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this, but I sometimes get a loud noise go off in my head just before I get to sleep? It's not like the other posts here where it's huge, shocking & almost paralysing with colour, but like a one off loud sound that's inside your head, sort of like a fog horn but not quite, although it's not always the same tone. It's quite strange
I don't recollect any bangs but on two occasions I have woken up to a blinding flash of light that has illuminated my bedroom. The first time I thought it was lightening but it wasn't. I then thought maybe it was a helicopter searching the area for something, but no. It was too bright for that anyway. It was a bluish white, very bright light.

The weirdest thing that happened to me was this one. I was dreaming (it felt very real though) and it was daytime but really really foggy and all I could see were two aeroplanes, exactly the same in the sky. Then I saw this great light and went towards it. It felt really warm and loving, but then I got this almighty roaring in my ears and I was very afraid and struggled to come awake. Once awake my heart was pounding, it was very scary.
As I live with a chronic snorer, I definitely never oversleep, I suffer from lack of sleep.
Sometimes when I'm just dropping off I hear my name being called, and I come wide awake again, its very odd.

i've had something similar happen to me, about 10 years ago, i used to get sleep paralysis most nights, i'd wake up, unable to move, with the feeling of my legs going numb, from my feet, and it would creep up slowly, i knew if it reached my heart, i'd be dead. it would creep up, usually taking what felt like 5-10 minutes, i'd spend that whole time just trying to move a finger or a toe, the slightest movement would shake me out of it, without fail, around the time it reached my stomach, i'd suddenly manage to move something, usually my leg. i can recall trying to scream, and nothing coming out, really quite scary.
but then after about 3 years, the pattern changed, i'd still have the sleep paralysis in the middle of the night, but when i fell asleep at night, just as i began to drift off, i'd have these almost electrical flashes going off in my head, coupled with bright flashes behind my eyes, this would shoot me awake again, i'd try and go back to sleep again, but the same thing would happen, this would happen maybe two or three times a night, two or three times a week. i actually thought i was having a a stroke or something like that in the beginning, and then as suddenly as it all came, it went away, the shocking thing and the sleep paralysis, i haven't had either for at least two years, but i can tell you that while it was happening, i was scared shitless, i thought all the acid i'd taken in my life had finally caught up with me, and tbh, the shocking thing i still think could have something to do with it.

electrical flashes going off in my head, coupled with bright flashes behind my eyes,
The bright flashes I have had almost everyday for over ten years only when awake not asleep. They occur in my peripheral vision usually at night like a bright orb that flashes for up to a second in length, normally on my left side but very occasionally on my right. I have no idea what it is but I've had it so long now I rarely pay it any attention.

i sometimes get, i guess phosphemes, in my field of of vision, they usually follow a geometric pattern, criss crossing, they're a bit annoying, but they come about very seldom, they're not like the flashes i had though, that was a burst of light, very bright, even though i was not completely asleep, it never happened like during the day or when i was still awake.

I have experiences similar to this quite a lot. Normally when I'm very tired. When I was younger I used to wonder what would happen if my body fell asleep while my mind was still awake - so I used to try to do that every night before I fell asleep as a kid. Later My mum got me a book on OBE's and how to induce one. So as a teen I tried it out and I had many weird experiences due to this. The only problem now is, if I'm tired my body goes to sleep before my mind does and I can't do anything about it. I often experience a really loud sound in my head and a flash of light, and a feeling like a train was rushing through me. I would also hear lots of whispering and talking like a radio station tuning and there would be a sort of static current disconnecting inside my head. Geez it so sounds like I'm making this up. Being paralysed is something that always happens. The only way I can deal with it is to go to sleep, to think about something and forget about trying to wake up. I then go back to sleep and wake up normally later on.
Its still incredibly scary tho.
Especially the paralysis. I used to get dreams over and over again where I was sleeping and I thought I better get up, so I opened my eyes got up, went to the door, put my hand out to open it and realised I was still asleep and dreaming - then I'd be back in my bed thinking I'd better get up - I'd get to the door and again I was dreaming and this would happen over and over - every time I woke up I would think I was actually awake when I wasn't.
Lucid dreams are fantastic. I once had a dream that I was in my parents house at night ( I am sure I was actually there for real because it seemed so real). I knew I was dreaming and I had an idea that I would fly to the moon. I started flying straight up and it took ages and ages to get to space - I realised how far away the moon really was, when I finally got into space I was cold and lonely and I got really scared being on my own and the moon was so far away - I decided to go back home. lol madness.:)

OMG I had that whispering & talking thing a few weeks ago when I was trying to get to sleep. It was really late & I didn't know what it was & just thought I'd maybe tuned into another frequency or something, dunno??? I couldn't make out what was being said specifically, it was just like being in a busy street or something, lots of different voices all talking at once - very strange! Thankfully I haven't had it again since.

No, I couldn't either - its like you are unable to, whether it's different languages I don't know. I once played a game on PS one years ago called Soul Reaver, and your character could switch between the physical world and the dead world and the sound effects when you made the switch was nearly identical to what I heard.
You often get the same sound in horror films too and thrillers. Although the first time I heard it, it didn't scare me, it was just weird.

It's been said that the loud noise thing means you are going to have an OBE or you are coming back from one. I've had it happen to me more times than I can count. Also woke up to the interdimensional (ghouls) having an energy feed off me. We are quite a resource to so many beings. And like our livestock we don't really see them or if we do get what we are to them. Had a very intense lucid 'dream' last night though I was in my backyard at night fighting some greys off. We were all engaged in some serious psychic warfare. I don't know who won though LOL

thats interesting i read a post from someone that had an OBE and was fighting with aliens on a distant planet, also sometimes before i sleep i see dark figures that i imagine are greys if there was only enough light to tell, although this is my imagination because its just shapes in the dark that look like figures.
also has anyone been able to see through there eyelids, i did a few weeks ago as i was trying to OBE but i couldnt get any further i fell asleep in the end but i could definetly see with my eyes closed.
also has anyone seen bubble like orbs i had a dream where i was by my bedroom door and there was a buble floating around with a golden coulour in its skin (the miniscous) although it was transparent and inside it there were blue bars like on a stereo graphic equilizer they were moving up and down individually as the bubble was floating around, anyone know what this is/ means?

I suffer from this occasionally myself, sometimes in association with a strange dream, sometimes not.
There's also a recognised sleep disorder known as Exploding Head Syndrome,

It can also be connected with Kundalini (sometimes known as Serpent Power) events, according to the Wikipedia entry.

I've had the electrical vibrations while trying to induce an OBE, I think our beyond physical self is in some form electromagnetic, afterall, so are our auras
I also felt a lot of vibrations up and down my spine and my heart/heart chakra beating at an intense energetic pace, I feel chakras/kundalini play into it all

Yes all the time......
From here :
http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1991&page=4
Have astral travelled since I was young and do it almost everynight, fantastic experience.......lucid dreams also come quite frequent and I have had several visions in the past that seem to be manifesting in one way or another into my experience as if at that time I was reminding myself of how things are (if this makes any sense to anyone).....
As a kid I would always project myself, yet I was always running from some unseen shadow and would always end the projection abruptly by falling from a large cliff and crashing with waves of heat and panic back into my body. Once I awoke to a demonic face staring down at me and have had many similiar experiences.....
After some time, a few years in fact of these projections I started to take control and at that time would leave my body to fly up and beyond sometimes circling the planets if I desired. Other times I would walk from my body and when I started running would fly off, going higher and higher and then swooping down and back up again......though I'll note here that I have also seen many 'dark beings' whilst on these planes and the chasing continued till about 6 months ago when I faced this "dark man" and defeated him with love (many refer to him as the man in black, perhaps I'll relay the whole story sometime).
Do not stray from these states for fear of these encounters, this is just my own experience with this state and having gone through this has made me stronger for it and know we are powerful enough in soul to conquer anything the 'negs' can throw at us. The majority of my travels have been learning experiences and I've loved these experiences in all there forms. Such an incredible feeling...to fly....to live........to love....to be....to see.
I have been meeting with people on the astrals all my life....though lately the energy is different....lighter as if new perceptions have been gained, or perhaps it is this energy permeating from the collective souls of al that is and from our vast beautiful universe.
Conversations there are enlightening, and just the other night I met what felt like a future partner, we discussed many things, mainly in regards to spiritual development, knowledge of self.....I will look for her again tonight......her dog was following me around everywhere I went and her children were guiding me to some place, though I never found out where.......I need to start keeping a diary also.
Happy travels fellow soul surfers......keep at it ....know you will succeed

Lately I seem to sometimes hear voices in any noice when I am awake also, washing mashine, traffic and hard wind as well, maybe Im going of the bend?
