William's army attacked again, and managed to make small chinks in the shield wall. They were able to exploit these gaps, and the English army began to fragment. William and a handful of knights broke through the wall, and struck down the English king. Without their leader and with many nobles dead, hundreds of fyrdmen fled the field. The housecarls kept their oath of loyalty to the king, and fought bravely until they were all killed.

They struck down a King.

My family name is in the doomsday book, its coat of arms is a black raven. And on my mothers side we have the best friend of Joesph Smith. Who started him on the way west. :)

He left Norwich and landed in Plymouth Plantation USA in the 1600's. A freeman. My mothers side had it alot better, they had ships. Tradeded them and got the land. Helped Joesph Smith out so he could go west. And here I am to help David Icke go to the Moon! and wipe out the moon matrix.

Yes, I know, and I have lived a life of poverty, on purpose! And now its clear we have to go to the moon. So it looks like my ancestors had some sea duty and I will have some space duty.

The truth about the black raven on the shield back in 1066 , had trained the ravens to find silver and gold coins and drop them into a wooden machine he built, to get food.
Sometimes its that simple to get wealth.

Genetic legacy

Studies of genetic diversity provide some indication of the origin and expansion of the Viking population. The Haplogroup I1 (defined by specific genetic markers on the Y-chomosome) is sometimes referred to as the "Viking haplogroup". This mutation occurs with the greatest frequency among Scandinavian males: 35 percent in Norway, Denmark and Sweden, and peaking at 40 percent within western Finland.[27] It is also common near the southern Baltic and North Sea coasts, and then successively decreases the further south geographically.

Genetic studies in the British Isles of the Y-DNA Haplogroup R1a1, seen also across Scandinavia, have demonstrated that the Vikings settled in the British Isles as well as raiding there. Both male and female descent studies show evidence of Norwegian descent in areas closest to Scandinavia, such as the Shetland and Orkney Islands. Inhabitants of lands farther away show most Norse descent in the male Y chromosome lines.[28]

A specialized surname study in Liverpool demonstrated marked Norse heritage, up to 50 percent of males who belonged to original families, those who lived there before the years of industrialization and population expansion.[29] High percentages of Norse inheritance – tracked through R1a1 haplotype signatures – were also found among males in Wirral and West Lancashire.[30] This was similar to the percentage of Norse inheritance found among males in the Orkney Islands.[31]

Recent research has revealed that the Scottish warrior Somerled, who drove the Vikings out of Scotland and was the progenitor of Clan Donald, was himself of Viking descent – a member of Haplogroup R1a1.[citation needed]

Vikings everywhere.

From the French word "tailler" which means "to cut", a tailor was originally a cutter of cloth. As such, the name came into use early in Scotland's history - Alexander le Taillur was a valet to King Alexander III in the last quarter of the 13th century. There were six landowners with the name Taylor who were of sufficient stature to be required to sign the "Ragman Roll" of King Edward in August 1296. Their lands ranged in places across Southern and Central Scotland such as Roxburghshire in the Borders, Edinburgh and Lanark, to as far north as the county of Angus.

In the early days, the name was often rendered in the Latin form "cissor" (from which the English word scissor is derived) and around 1137, Walter Cissor was granted land by King David II and William Cissor held a tenement in Edinburgh in 1392. Scissor and Cissor were recorded in Inverness and Perth in the 15th century. But, unlike the name Taylor which became prolific, the Cissor variant died out - possibly with some of the holders changing to Taylor.

The name spread into the Gaelic-speaking Highlands and became Macantaillear and Macintaylor but did not become widespread. However, "Taillear dubh na tuaighe" (Black Taylor of the battle-axe) was a legendary follower of Cameron of Lochiel. A number of Macintaileours were fined for providing shelter to members of the outlawed clan Macgregor in 1613.

Taylor was the 13th most frequent surname at the General Register Office in 1995.

I use to look towards my uncles like they were Vikings, they just looked like what you expect. Bearded big fellows, now I know why. This could also explain why they eat alot of pork.

We are deffinitely of Norse descent.

Dykes is a British surname which may originate from the hamlet of Dykesfield in Burgh-by-Sands, Cumbria in the north of England. Due to its close proximity to the English and Scottish borders, the surname Dykes has also been found in Scottish lowlands throughout the ages

These coats of arms are total shite. My brother paid some ancestry site and got sent a COA for our family name. We come from Southern Ireland origionally, our ancesters were poor tenant farmers so how the fuck could we ever have a coat of arms? The trouble with everyone in this country is due to the BBC drama dept and The National Trust, we all think we descended from country gentleman when the overwhelming fact is that 99% are the descendants of squatters, clod hoppers, hinds, paupers, labours etc. Try reading Cobbett or Hopkins sometime.

It is the geneology behind it. It is just another crest of norse dialect. Its all norse. Family names are another thing.

Yeah I see what you mean, but it isn't like that. We are talking about a really big movement here. So really at one point, what we are saying is that your family must have been sailors, or wealthy enough to travel. Maybe one man? Of norse Origin, started that off. Unless of course they just appeared there, and started knitting for everyone??

Sweet zombie jesus! Relax a little, for your own sake at least, and kindly explain for the dullards amongst us (myself included) the connection that YOU see between what you're posting and the stated intent of this section of the forum.

Forums are for the exchange of ideas; this particular section is for discussing issues pertaining to freedom from non-consensual obligations. That you don't like it when someone questions your reasons for posting what seems (at first glance) to be irrelevant pictures of family crests is, well, tough. Welcome to the community!

My posts aren't attempts to derail your thread or "flame your shit"... I'm asking you nicely what this thread has to do with this section. There are no consequences to not answering me but if you're to be taken seriously here you may want to reconsider your netiquette and refrain from attacking those who merely seek clarification.

p.s. If your shit is on fire you may want to see a doctor or lay off the Flinty-O's.
