As posted above, it could be people trying to make these events happen to seemingly support scripture. A power trip perhaps.

Babylon could have been a city of the past... Babylon could be city in the future... Babylon could be a metaphor for a 'system of things' therefore not even require a physical city..
You could be right.

You also need to ask how God 'smote' cities in the past, did he just cause one or two buildings to fall over? Allowing the drugs, the sordidness, the alcohol and the crime, the secret societies and underworld movements of fallen human souls remain, functioning as normal? Usually a cursed city was utterly destroyed. Of course the towers falling was a terrible thing - yet the City is still functioning perfectly well, seems to have gotten off lightly.

I'm sorry but this thread is absurd. The US as a nation is nowhere specified in Bible prophecy.

Revelation 18 is yet future, to happen during the last 7 years - called the time of "Jacob's Trouble", "Tribulation / Great Tribulation period" or the "70th week of Daniel".
