Comet Encke's Tail Ripped Off

Swinging inside the orbit of Mercury, on April 20th periodic comet Encke encountered a blast from the Sun in the form of a Coronal Mass Ejection (http://cometography.com/pcomets/002p.html)(CME). When CMEs, enormous clouds of energetic particles ejected from the Sun, slam into Earth's magnetosphere, they often trigger auroral displays. But in this case, the collison carried the tail of the comet away. The tail was likely ripped off by interacting magnetic fields rather than the mechanical pressure of the collision. Clicking on the two panel image will play a movie gif of the remarkable event as recorded by the Heliospheric Imager onboard the STEREO A spacecraft. In the movie, the time between frames is about 45 minutes, while the frames span about 14x20 million kilometers at the distance of the comet. Of course, similar collisions have happened before as the ancient comet loops through its 3.3 year solar orbit. So don't worry, Encke's tail grows back!

The Ultraviolet Spectrum of Periodic Comet Encke (1980 Xl)

A comparison of the ultraviolet spectrum of periodic Comet Encke (1980 XI), recorded by the IUE between 24 October and 5 November 1980 with similar spectra of short- and long-period comets shows the gaseous composition of P/Encke to be nearly identical to that of the other comets observed by the IUE. If P/Encke is indeed the remains of a once giant comet, this similarity implies a homogeneous radial structure for the cometary ice nucleus. The OH brightness distribution shows a spatial variation similar to the visible fan-shaped image of the comet, suggestive of a nonuniform distribution of volatile ices on the surface of the nucleus. The total derived water production rate appears to be a factor of 5 higher than that derived from HI Lyman-α observations made during the 1970 apparition and shows a variation with heliocentric distance (r) as r−3.3 over the range 0.81 to 1.02 AU.

The orbits of the brightest comets (the socalled "new" comets) are nearly parabolic so that they approach the Sun (within ~ 0.5 AU) very seldom in their lifetimes and are, thus, not strongly modified by the effects of solar radiation. Most of the periodic comets ("old" comets) are not as bright because they never get very close to the Sun (perihelion distance q => I AU). Comet Encke is an exceptional comet in that it is a short period comet (r ~ 3.3 years) which passes very close to the Sun (q = 0.34 AU). As a consequence Comet Encke has been the object of fairly extensive study, having been observed at every perihelion passage except one since its discovery in 1786. During this time the study of Comet Encke has contributed significantly to the advancement of cometary science.

Comet P/Halley has been observed during its approach to perihelion at heliocentric distances R = 11.0 AU and R = 8.2 AU. No extended coma is seen and limits can be placed on the fraction of the total light contributed by coma. The brightness of the comet varies on a short time scale. The variations may be due to transient activity or to rotation of the irregular nucleus.

8- to 13-μm spectrophotometry of Comet IRAS-Araki-Alcock
We present spectrophotometry between 8.0 and 13.0 microns at 2% spectral resolution for areas in and near the nuclear condensation of Comet IRAS-Araki-Alcock (1983d) on May 11 and 12, 1983. All the spectra can be fit very well by blackbody curves, and no 10 micron silicate emissions are seen. The temperature structure of the coma suggests the presence of small (radii <5 microns) dust particles within 150 km of the nucleus and larger ones further out. The change in the spatial distribution of the infrared flux between the two nights suggests that an outburst may have occurred sometime on May 11.

Comet P/Holmes, 1892III: A case of duplicity? May 1984
The observations of comet P/Holmes 1892III, exhibiting two 8- to 10-mag bursts, have been carefully analyzed. The phenomena are consistent with the grazing encounter of a small satellite with the nucleus on November 4.6, 1892, and the final encounter on January 16.3, 1893. The grazing encounter produced, besides the first great burst, an active area on the nucleus, which was rotating retrograde with a period of 16.3 hr and inclination of nearly 180°. After the final encounter, the spin period was essentially unchanged, but two areas became active, separated some 164° in longitude on the nucleus. After the first burst the total magnitude fell less than 2 mag from November 7 to 30 (barely naked eye) while the nuclear region remained diffuse or complex, rarely of ever showing a stellar appearance. The fading was much more rapid after the second burst (barely naked eye at maximum) while the nucleus frequently appeared stellar after the first day. It seems reasonable to conclude that the grazing encounter distributed a volume of large chunks in the neighborhood of the nucleus, maintaining activity for weeks. The final encounter activated a new area on the nucleus, the shock and fall back disturbing the area already exposed by the grazing encounter. Several details of this scenario are fitted rather well.
This first appearance of this short-period comet (P = 6.9 years" q = 2.1 AU) was extraordinary, perhaps unique. Certainly a huge burst that occurred near November 5. 1892. made the discovery possible on November 8. Holmes (1893) reports that the comet had not been visible in the same region less than 2 weeks before his discovery. It may be added that the comet was discovered as a bright object nearly 5 months earlier after its perihelion passage, although the observing geometry was favourable all the time at perihelion, the comet should have been only 1).5 mag fainter than near opposition 5 months later). It was also the first shortperiod comet of q > 2 ever discovered.

It seems to suggest that the leading edge of a wave contains all the information of the full wave behind it----making it appear to travel faster than c itself.
Would be interesting to speculate on what this discovery may mean to understanding Dual Slit experiments and/or the phenomenon of gravitational lensing.
Also makes you wonder about the possible quantization of starlight and redshifts.

This story leaves me incredulous and agog as much of the theories behind quantum mechanics do. I am about as confused as the dog Brian Greene is trying to teach physics to in the Elegant Universe. I think some spin forwards and some spin backwards (correct me if I'm wrong). I'd say that it's more the illusion of going backwards, though. So the analogy goes, spiral arms are more like traffic jams than actual... flailing arms. Stars orbit the galactic center, moving faster in the less-dense "arm-less" areas of the galactic disk and moving slower in the more-dense "arms," all the while orbiting the galactic center not in a clear circular orbit like Earth around the Sun but bobbing up and down through the disk.
Looking down from a helicopter, you can see cars (stars) on a highway moving a certain direction but the actual traffic jam (spiral arms) moves backward as the cars in front breach the jam and speed up while cars in the back slow down in entering the jam.

This is quite interesting for several reasons. It appears that there are some similarities between what goes on within semiconductor material and what is going on with the particular fiber optics in this experiment. In materials like silicone or germanium, once doped with impurities such as arsenic or gallium they become semiconductors. In this instance the glass is doped with erbium and the resulting effect on light seems rather strange.
I would be curious to see how long of a fiber optic of this type would result in a failure of the experiment. To exaggerate, I don't think that a fiber optic equal in length to the distance from New York to Los Angeles would produce the same result with the pulse coming out the other end before the incoming pulse entered the fiber. Also, I would like to know at what distance in front of the fiber optic the pulse is as the other pulse appears..
An optical fiber consists of a cylindrical inner core that carries the light and an outer concentric shell called the "cladding". The core is made from a higher refraction of index material than is the cladding. Light sent down the fiber travels a zig-zag path with total internal relfection since the incident angle is greater than the critical angle.
When light travels through a material with a smaller refractive index toward a material with a larger refractive index (air to gasoline), reflection at the boundary occurs along with a phase change in the wave equal to 1/2 of a wavelength. When light travels from a larger to a smaller refractive index, there is no phase change upon reflection at the boundary.
It seems possible that the refractive index of the optic material in optical fiber's core in the experiment has become variable and can change based on the particular distance the pulse is from the material. In this respect it also acts like it has some capacitive qualities with some apparent moving dielectric-like characteristic moving ahead of the pulse. It is as if a second source of light appears at the opposite boundary and flashes in phase, sending waves that split from the source and move in all directions like a light bulb.
Boyd may have invented a new type of semiconductor. Only it is not electricity that is being manipulated here. Light pulses are.

Light does some strange things. JS Bell did a few (thousand) thought experiments and a few lab trials to see that some things DO move faster than C. Try Wikipedia for Bell's Theorem to get the full treatment.
A few researchers at NASA tried to use some weird transmission medium for radio communications in the Apollo Project, using Tesla transmission. Varies considerably from single sideband, shoots a narrow beam of energized photons and supposedly claws its way through solar radiation that can ruin normal AM and/or FM transmission. Tesla tried it many years ago and said he wasn't going to take it further: the mathematician he hired said he was fooling around with things he shouldn't: more dimensions than the four we know and love so well: time, length, height, and width. It was the beginning of research into zero-dimension, that exists only as time (the math gets decidedly weird).
I know I'm going to get a lot of static, but hat's off to Tesla. Light moves at C, but "information" isn't light. Maybe if we master what NASA first tried in the 1960's, we'll be able to detect dark matter/energy directly. I have the sneaking hunch that we're going to do a lot of research in the field before long, if only to understand gravity better.

If so, Southwestern Bell would like to see his paperwork. They're working on ways to speed up photo cable without resorting to phase-wrecking transducer-amplifier-transducer rigs every few dozen miles along the route. Texas Instrument has been doing work on it also, with no results that you'd write home about (except for money).
Back in 1953, Philo T. Farnsworth (of TV fame) did some preliminary work on transmitting TV signals by photo cable, notably without results. The problem was laying the cable correctly, although boosting light signals is a technology we still do not understand well.
When you understand everything there is to know about light . . . put in for a Nobel Prize in Physics, because you'd be the first to crack the riddle of the common photon.

Robert W. Boyd, a professor of optics at the University of Rochester, however, did not choose this easy, straightforward technique.
Instead, in the latest example of logic-defying tricks that physicists can now perform with light, Dr. Boyd and his colleagues demonstrated an optical fiber — a glass strand that transmits pulses of light — with a couple of odd characteristics:
¶A pulse of light shot into the fiber departs before it enters.
¶Within the fiber, the pulse travels backward — and faster than the speed of light.
Perhaps most amazingly, Dr. Boyd's results do not violate any law of physics. The effect is indeed predicted by the equations describing the propagation of waves.
"This is a good example of something which is very counterintuitive that the laws of nature permit," Dr. Boyd said.
An article describing the experiment appears in the current issue of the journal Science.
In the vacuum of space, light travels at a constant 186,282 miles per second. When it passes through a transparent material like glass or water, it slows slightly, in effect bouncing off atoms as it moves.
In 1999, physicists led by Lene Vestergaard Hau of Harvard slowed the speed of light to a leisurely 38 miles per hour by shining it into an exotic ultracooled material known as Bose-Einstein condensate.
Two years later, Dr. Hau's group, as well as a second team of scientists at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, were able to bring light to a standstill — and then release it with its original properties intact.
In other experiments, scientists have shown that it is possible to make light at least appear as if it is traveling faster than the speed of light. Physicists hope to harness such manipulations of light to speed up optical communications.
For Dr. Boyd's trick, the scientists used an optical fiber of glass with small amounts of the metal erbium, which acts as an amplifier. In the experiment, a pulse of laser light was fired into the fiber. Even before the peak of the pulse entered the fiber, another pulse appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, at the far end of the fiber.
This new pulse then split in two. One, a twin of the original pulse, moved forward, while the other moved backward through the fiber.
The backward pulse, which traveled faster than the speed of light, and the original pulse met at the front end of the fiber, where they canceled each other.
Even though one pulse momentarily became three, the experiment did not violate the law mandating conservation of energy because the amplifying effect of the erbium added a temporary surge of energy.
At first glance, the experiment appears to flout the usual speed limit on the transmission of signals as the original pulse jumped to the forward-moving pulse on the other side of the fiber.
However, the pulses were in a shape known as Gaussian, which is, in principle, infinite in width, though in practice not quite that wide.
Thus, the outgoing pulse was actually just part of the original pulse that was reshaped by the fiber's unusual properties.
"It's really kind of showing the kind of manipulation of light we can do these days," Dr. Hau said of Dr. Boyd's experiment.
Dr. Boyd said this effect might find some application in speeding up optical communications, but it is, for now, mostly just an impressive trick of physics. "I find it neat," he said. "I find it nifty."

Remember, when you call your dragons home to your being, to welcome them into your wholeness and allow them space to move in so that they again can again be a part of you. Adding to a whole without a circumference is beginning the process of understanding the eternal wholeness that is always you.
Self-sabotage can be related here. How many times have we asked ourselves for something and it has returned to us but in disguise. These disguises are none other than your dragons returning home to you disguising themselves because they are unsure that you really want to allow them in. So many times they have come, so many times you have refused the experience around them, so many times have they left you because you have trampled upon them and once again have chained them in your self-imposed abyss (you've seduced them and then sabotaged them). When will you truly free them and accept the experience and or knowledge that comes with them? When will you allow that part of you to exist until it merges into your being? How will you allow this transition to occur? First off, sometimes you simply have to get out of your own way. In other words, stop second-guessing your first impulses. Try it. Do it once, then twice, then on and on. Don't expect too much of yourselves at first though because you have fine-tuned your second-guessing so well that most of your distant dragons never even try to enter your field of existence. Thus the saying, "why bother?"
Calling your dragons home and then not sabotaging them when they arrive is all part of learning how to leave your comfort zone and transmuting your very own fear of darkness into the light of your being. For the fear of the dragon or of the darkness is none other than fearing the process of the transition. Changing comfort zones isn't easy and sometimes is downright ugly. But, if you really want this change, this long lost dragon-part of yourself to emerge, merge and be a part of you, then you must first be able to "feel" it (the discomfort), which is no other than the recognition of it and then you will be able to move through it consciously using the tools of your life that has brought you this far. You've moved far into your Intelligent Being to just contemplate such an undertaking with full knowledge of what transition might mean to your being. But, you will be amazed at how truly free you feel each and every time you allow it. It might not get easier, but then again, it might. It's up to you. If you know it's going to rain, you prepare with a raincoat. If you know you are transitioning, you can have your tools handy and sharpened to diamond-cut precision. You can do it! Yes! We ALL can do it. The faith part is having faith in yourself for not only once in your life but forever NOW.
Remember, you can flow with it or get out and walk in either direction; it's always totally up to you.

I cannot explain the details to you because it is experiential based. I no more know your experiences than you know mine. And the dragons are no more or less "blocks of experiences" that you move through on a daily basis, whether you are conscious of them or not.
It has nothing to do with "reptilian controllers." It does, however, have to do with accepting into your reality that you are part of all things and therefore all things are part of you at some level.
It's all about choice. If you want to find a long-lost dragon, just look around you. What pisses you off? Call it home and see what happens when you allow it to merge into you. It might be a good idea to pick something small at first. Bringing these realizations to the forefront might very well cause a melt-down within you. Make sure you are prepared or at least know where to turn to as far as networking to help you understand what is happening. More often than not, your body will react to "calling your dragons home" because it is at the mental level that this takes place but then it extends to your body. These are merely levels of your human being that are synching together, but it can be tricky until you understand what is happening.
It's much like an initiation. An initiation is in a sense causing an illness consciously within you and then moving through the process of healing it yourself. Are you prepared with the tools that you need to heal yourself? No one else can do it for you. We can support you, but you have to do the work of accepting and merging your own dragons. Sometimes, all you need is someone close to hold onto.
Be gentle.

Infinite beings have no circumference, therefore are they not always growing? It's not that you are inviting "a part of" another being into yourself, in the macrocosmic picture, it's all you. It's not that you believe that you "are less than" another at any given time. It's that you believe there to be always more - it's neverending - thus, you are a "neverending being."
We all are nevernending beings. The idea that there is only one, is because there is only one, but the one grows in a neverending circumference and you are part of while at the same time, the one at any given time.
That's why no one will be left behind, for one is all there is - can't leave self behind if you are one and you understand that concept.

If what you are describing are negative thought forms, quite often those do not originate or belong to us, so you are inviting people to own thought forms which were never theirs, never theirs to work through or change - because one cannot clear somebody else's creation, only the duplicate of it one has invited into one's life.
If one has an emotion ie: like you say, "pissed off" one can ask "who does this belong to?" If it gets lighter, it is not of that person, and can be sent home. If it is heavier, then it is of one's own creation.
So, "whose dragons are these?" is more appropriate than assuming any which appear are of the experiencer.

According to Physics Web in Sound breaks the light barrier (Free reg. required), a professor of physics in Tennessee has designed an experiment which proves that sound can move faster than light. This looks like impossible -- and it is. In fact, the physicist has tweaked some scientific definitions. No sound can go faster than light. But a sound pulse, or more precisely, all the wavelengths associated to a sound, have a "group velocity" that far exceeds the real physical limits. Have I lost you? Here are a couple of paragraphs from the Physics Web article.
In a normal dispersive medium, the velocity of a wave is proportional to its wavelength, resulting in a group velocity that is slower than the average velocity of its constituent waves. But in an "anomalously" dispersive medium -- one that becomes highly absorbing or attenuating at certain frequencies -- velocity is inversely proportional to wavelength, meaning that the group velocity can become much faster.
Indeed, the group velocity of light has already been shown to travel faster than the speed of light in a vacuum. But until now, superluminal acoustic waves have existed only in theory, and would require the group velocity to increase almost a million times over.
But what exactly is a superluminal phenomenon? Here is a short answer from Eric Weisstein's World of Physics.
A superluminal phenomenon is a frame of reference traveling with a speed greater than the speed of light c. There is a putative class of particles dubbed tachyons which are able to travel faster than light. Faster-than-light phenomena violate the usual understanding of the "flow" of time, a state of affairs which is known as the causality problem (and also called the "Shalimar Treaty").
Anyway, this was the purpose of the experiment designed by William Robertson from Middle Tennessee State University with the help of some colleagues and students. And their research work was recently published by Applied Physics Letters under the name "Sound beyond the speed of light: measurement of negative group velocity in an acoustic loop filter" (Volume 90, Issue 1, Article 014102, January 1, 2007). The results confirm recent theoretical predictions that faster-than-light group velocity propagation of sound is possible. Further, the results show that the spectral rephasing achieved in a loop filter is sufficient to produce negative group velocities independent of the phase velocity of the spectral components themselves. Thus, superluminal propagation is realized despite almost six orders of magnitude difference between the speeds of sound and light.

In Sound pulses exceed speed of light, Charles Q. Choi, from LiveScience, gave additional details. And it's quite funny to discover that this experiment used only a plastic plumbing pipe and a computer's sound card. "This experiment is truly basement science," Robertson told LiveScience.
Robertson and his colleagues transmitted sound pulses from the sound card through a loop made from PVC plumbing pipe and connectors from a hardware store. This loop split up and then recombined the tiny waves making up each pulse.
This led to a curious result. When looking at a pulse that entered and then exited the pipe, before the peak of the entering pulse even got into the pipe, the peak of the exiting pulse had already left the pipe. If the velocities of each of the waves making up a sound pulse in this setup are taken together, the "group velocity" of the pulse exceeded c.

The Electric Fires of Creation
Million-degree plasma in the Orion Nebula comes not from the kinetic excitation of cold gas, but from the electric currents of space.
For many years astrophysical theories of stellar and galactic development have been relegated to the processes of mechanical action. Everything we see and all the forces that shape the evolution of the incredible structures we have discovered have been attributed to the collapse of cold gas through gravitational influence. Conventional viewpoints attribute galaxies, stars, planets, comets and stardust itself to the whirling vortices of compressed matter.
Compression heats gas as it is drawn together by gravity, as the theory suggests. Clouds of hydrogen a thousands times less dense than a puff of smoke are somehow able to elicit an inflow toward a common center, creating a region of increased density that coaxes even more material to collect there and so on. Eventually, the atoms within in the gas cloud can no longer resist the inward attraction – it falls into the well of nuclear fusion, converting the hydrogen into helium and releasing a self-sustaining storm of radiation. A star is born.
In that same way, an object that emits x-rays, gamma rays and ultra-violet light is said to result from violent compaction when a star reaches the point where its energetic output can no longer resist the influx of inertial mass. Nuclear fusion has reached the end of its potential and the stellar envelope implodes in what can be described as a “gravity crash”. The rebound from that cataclysm forces the star’s outer layers to explode into space, forming emission nebulae, matter jets and bubbles of heavy elements that expand outward for thousands of light-years.
If the star is large enough, the resulting explosive event is described as a supernova – the star’s savage death drives gravity waves into the gas clouds of nearby proto-stars, compressing the hydrogen gas and beginning a secondary cycle of star-birth.
With the invention of more powerful telescopes and our ability to place sensitive detection apparatus into Earth orbit, astronomers are finding that the more simplistic explanations from the past are in need of revision. Rather than space being permeated with cold, dark clouds of hydrogen gas, alone, there are vast areas where “hot plasma” is transporting power over many parsecs.
In a recent announcement by the European Space Agency (ESA), the XMM-Newton x-ray satellite observatory has revealed the presence of “flowing plasma” at over one million Kelvin in the Orion Nebula. The discovery was a surprise, because the research team never expected to find such “hot gas” there.
Said Manuel Güdel, a member of the research team:
“We didn't look for it - we actually found this diffuse emission by chance while looking at the many stellar x-ray point sources in the field. As previous researchers have not reported diffuse x-ray emission from such star-forming regions but were rather arguing against its presence, we were indeed surprised to find such prominent emission across large regions of the nebula.” (See, Güdel, Manuel, Briggs, Kevin R., Montmerle, Thierry, Audard, Marc, Rebull, Luisa, and Skinner, Stephen L. “Million-Degree Plasma Pervading the Extended Orion Nebula.” Science, Vol. 319, 18 January 2008).
The Orion Nebula is approximately 2.5 light-years in diameter and is thought to be an active region where the nebular gasses are condensing into stars. In fact, at last count, over 700 new stars are said to be forming within the nebula. Stars of all types are considered sources for x-ray emissions (and many stars within the Orion Nebula do shine in x-rays), but no nebula is supposed to posses the energetic potential necessary for their production.
According to the ESA, the investigators believe that they “know” what is producing the plasma: it is the collision of “high velocity winds emitted by stars”. In other words, the flurries of gas blowing off the stars in the heart of the nebula induce heat through kinetic “shock waves” that raises the temperature in the environment to millions of degrees. Once again, although conventional scientists use the term “plasma” they really mean hot gas with no reference to an electrical component.
As the XMM-Newton scientists said: “The hot gas and the X-rays that it emits interact with the cool, molecular environment in which stars form. It may influence the environment of stars – for example, circumstellar accretion disks in which planets form – by contributing to the ionization of those disks. Such effects need further study, though.”
No further study is required when one considers the Electric Star hypothesis, however. Instead of mechanical action (heated gas), the Orion Nebula’s radiant emanations are due to a boost in the current that powers the central stars. The electrical sheath that is normally invisible receives additional input from the galactic Birkeland currents in which it is immersed and gets pushed into the "glow" discharge state. The increased flux density pulls matter from the star and from the surrounding space into filaments that ignite the nebular gasses electrically.
The idea that gas can be heated until it gives off x-rays without any electrical effects, or that a “wind” of ionized particles is not an electric current, or that the only way to accelerate ions is through mechanical shock is frankly ludicrous. It betrays a desire to hold on to outmoded theories despite the evidence of observations.

Explanation: How common are planetary systems like our own? Perhaps quite common, as the first system of planets like our own Solar System has been discovered using a newly adapted technique that, so far, has probed only six planetary systems. The technique, called gravitational microlensing, looks for telling brightness changes in measured starlight when a foreground star with planets chances almost directly in front of a more distant star. The distant star's light is slightly deflected in predictable ways by the gravity of the closer system. Recently a detailed analysis of microlensing system OGLE-2006-BLG-109 has related brightness variations to two planets that are similar to Jupiter and Saturn of our own Solar System. This discovery carries the tantalizing implication that interior planets, possibly including Earth-like planets, might also be common. Astronomers said Wednesday that they had found a miniature version of our own solar system 5,000 light-years across the galaxy — the first planetary system that really looks like our own, with outer giant planets and room for smaller inner planets.
“It looks like a scale model of our solar system,” said Scott Gaudi, an assistant professor of astronomy at Ohio State University. Dr. Gaudi led an international team of 69 professional and amateur astronomers who announced the discovery in a news conference with reporters.
“This could be a true solar system analogue,” he said
The new discovery was made by a different technique that favors planets more distant from their star. It is based on a trick of Einsteinian gravity called microlensing. If, in the ceaseless shifting of the stars, two of them should become almost perfectly aligned with Earth, the gravity of the nearer star can bend and magnify the light from the more distant one, causing it to get much brighter for a few days.
If the alignment is perfect, any big planets attending the nearer star will get into the act, adding their own little boosts to the more distant starlight.
That is exactly what started happening on March 28, 2006, when a star 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius began to pass in front of one 21,000 light-years more distant, causing it to flash. That was picked up by the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment, or Ogle, a worldwide collaboration of observers who keep watch for such events.

I cant stop admiring your way of thinking Edit :) I still cant figure it out, but thanks for sharing the stuff in this thread. Maybe when I have been here a few years more I will learn to understand your way of thinking.
I especially liked the stuff about light travelling too fast goes backwards. It says Einstein was right, light is the maximum speed for us, because travelling faster than that will cause the flow of time to change around you.
Very fascinating. I will have to spend some more time looking at this thread, its a bit much all at once, I just skimmed it so far.

The enormous, steerable, single dish looms in the foreground of this early evening skyscape. Above it, the starry skies of New South Wales, Australia include familiar southerly constellations Vela, Puppis, and Hydra along with a sight that will never be seen again. Still glinting in sunlight and streaking right to left just below the radio telescope's focus cabin, the space shuttle orbiter Atlantis has just undocked with the International Space Station for the final time. The space station itself follows arcing from the lower right corner of the frame, about two minutes behind Atlantis in low Earth orbit. Atlantis made its final landing early this morning (July 21, 5:57am EDT) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

Throughout time on earth there has been a steady rise and downfall of the rhythmic waves of life on the planet; it is as an ebb and flow of the love and the fear in manifestation. Over the past few centuries that momentum has steadily risen to a pace that is measurable only in the nuances of energy that is delivered in events to the people.
In the last several decades this momentum has risen to a peak and has all but evened out to a one-liner, as you may think of it. Robert Morning Sky's "The Terra Papers" (http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/vida_alien/esp_vida_alien_63.htm) has a good explanation of who En-Ki was. As a quick overview of what the paper is about, he says:
My grandfather was one of the six young Indian rescuers. When I was young, my grandfather told me the story about his Star visitor. He and his friends called him 'Star Elder', a name given out of respect. But as time passed, his name was revealed to the youths. He was called... 'Bek'Ti'.
This is his story...and mine.
In the late sixties, I was enrolled at a University in a Religious Studies program. Towards the end of my studies, I submitted a paper that briefly summarized the history of Man and Earth as told by Bek'Ti. I titled the paper, 'TERRA, a Hidden History of Planet Earth'. I was sure it had presented & well researched and well documented work.
It was immediately labeled a work of outrageous, if not blasphemous, distortion of historical records and not of the caliber of a serious student of Religion. The TERRA PAPERS, the story of Bek'Ti, nearly got me thrown out of school.
In frustration, I approached a UFO organization and some UFO researchers reasonably confident that they would be most interested in my story. To my surprise, I was rejected offhand. I was advised by one researcher that UFO' s were quite clearly a phenomena of a technology and NOT the works of the mythical beings of primitive peoples. (Curiously, he is now a well-respected UFO author and has recently released a book on the ET/Native American connection.)
For thirty years, I have avoided telling the story. The initial response to my efforts was discouraging. But I have recently been persuaded to try again.
The history of Man and Earth presented by Bek'Ti is both exciting and frightening. The creation of Man and his place in the galaxy is made clear but in the process his nobility, and his pride, will be injured. The abduction phenomena and the attending grey beings are revealed to have been integral parts of Man's history but are explained against the framework of the purposes of the Star Beings for Mankind.
The sources of Man's religions and the origins of legendary figures like Zeus, the Minotaur, Osiris and Isis, and a number of other 'mythological' beings are explained and also placed into the framework of the History of Planet Earth.
And, so too, upcoming events can be predicted. Not from any psychic abilities or channeling, but from patterns of an on-going effort to direct Planet Earth.
Man will soon be surrounded with images of asteroids and falling fiery comets. Black pigs will be seen everywhere as will Angel figures. Dinosaurs will become children's heroes and violence will be the foundation of their play. New airborne diseases, immune to existing treatments, will surface. NASA will be rendered weak and impotent, if not terminated.
A galactic war of conquest rages over our heads...
Earth...and Man...is the prize.
This is my story... This is my Grandfather's story ...and... this is the story of Bek'Ti.
This is a bit complicated - I'm summarising this massively from my own summary of the original paper, so bear with me. Cutting a long story short for those who haven't got the time or the inclination to read the long and convoluted story (although I recommend bookmarking it and coming back to it later, because it's fascinating and pre-dates the work of Sitchen and all the others), En-Ki was a title (meaning “Lord of the World in the Likeness of Asa-Rrr”; Asa-Rrr was the homeworld of the Mammalian humanoid ET race that joined forces with the Reptilians.
The world to which the title refers is Tiamat, later known as Maldeck, purportedly the tropical Throne Planet of our system. It was partially smashed into pieces by a Death Star-like warship, and whilst the fragments eventually became the asteroid belt we now see between Mars and Jupiter, the rest of which eventually became Earth.
The title itself was given to Lord Prince Ea, son of King An-U, whilst he stayed there to oversee the harvesting of unique minerals from the system and the stationing of Warriors on Dak-Mu and Dak-A-Mu (which we now know as Mars and Venus).
It's all very interesting stuff, and even if in years to come it all ends up just being some very intricately-woven sci-fi tapestry, it's fascinating to read as a possibility. Incidentally, the paper goes on to cover the origins of Zeus , Valhalla and Mount Olympus, the Annunaki, and mentions the Ikiki, a group of the Reptilian-Mammalian Empire's finest fighter pilots who are stationed around Jupiter and Saturn, which interestingly enough ties in with this video, UFO Fleet Starship Filmed on telescope.

That may be partially true, just keep in mind that the combined mass of the asteroid belt is only 4% of Earth's moon. It's plausible that Jupiter's Galilean moons are the rest of it. Europa is probably the remains of an ocean for example. I believe it's possible that at some point in time, Mars and or Venus were both inhabited/colonized with intelligent life forms. Some sort of astro collision killed off Mars and put Venus into a funny and slow retrograde rotation. Earth's moon, the moons of Mars, the asteroid belt, and the Galilean moons are the remains of this. The survivors fled to Earth, did a little terraforming, and messed with our genetic ancestors to make them more like them. They also experimented with dolphins I'm guessing. These guys are the gnostic archons, the gods, and the reason for duality of the self. That's my crazy theory.
Whoever Enki is, I've come to the conclusion that we'll never know because references to him have probably been vandalized. Enki and Enlil swap roles (and are occasionally replaced with Marduk and Inanna/Tammuz) too often to sort out the truth from the lies. They could very well be the same person, a good/evil and wise trickster. Like Loki... and most of mankind.
