I am thinking about buying the audio version of 'The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World' by Alan Greenspan.

Has anyone else bought this book? It should be interesting to learn about the big politics even though the book is probably heavily filtered and doesn't cover the more covert dealings. I don't see the Fed or the other central banks as an enemy, but the fractional reserve banking system needs to change I believe, even if it from a certain perspective (such as economic growth) may have severed a good purpose up until now it has also lead to a horrible pyramid of power.

greenspan is the man who engineered this looming crash, thats why he knows whats going to happen. he engineered it, and will be made to look even better by accuratley predicting it. he has left bernanke to go down in history as the man who destroyed america. by creating this flood of cheap credit/money supply, he has caused the dollar to lose over 20% of its value. which means infaltion/hyper inflation, which they can't control due to interest rates hitting the real estate/consumer credit sector, all they are doing is delaying the inevitable, and thus making the depth/length of the crash even worse.
these are the books people should read

I just ordered the download version of this audio book. In the beginning Alan Greenspan describes his reactions to being informed by a former Secret Service agent on 9/11 2001 about the WTC + Pentagon attack: "Were these attacks the beginnings of some wider conspiracies?", he thought.
It will be interesting listening to the rest of the book. Some 10 hours of audio!

I'm not so sure. He says in the book that he was first informed by a former Secret Service agent about the attacks the day they happened, having been in Switzerland and the plane was ordered not to fly back to America.

I can't wait to the part where Greenspan says somthing like: The war in Iraq is all about oil. I think Alan Greenspan is a good guy. He managed the practical things in the economy and was concerned about keeping the economy in order. That doesn't mean that there are not nasty banking interests lurking behind the scene. Hopefully Ron Paul will clear up the horrible fractional reserve banking system.

Anders, Id say that Synergy is right and this thing has been planned with Greenspan in the know of course... This is about crashing america, and watching the whirlwind of fallout... And i am now even questioning if Ron Paul can change this even if made president... Shit is looking bleak at the moment:(

It seems pretty clear after listening a bit to Greenspan's book that he genuinely is concerned and very learned about how the economy works on the production side of things. I strongly doubt that he had anything to do with the 911 attack. But I will listen some more. Especially the part about the 911 disaster. It sure would have been beneficial for the Fed to have known about the attack in advance, but probably not necessary. Greenspan has a passion for understanding how the economy works, not for how to manipulate it through other means than changing interest rates and so on.

Man the fundamental workings of the Federal Reserve is based on manipulation.. You cannot sit there at a desk at the fed for 5 or 10 years(however long Greenspans was there) and wonder wtf is it set up like this for...
December actually posted a good article about how the federal reserve notes ($) used to be payable in silver / gold...
That is history and so are reasonable economic practices that are not destined for debt...

Well over 10 years (August 11, 1987 – January 31, 2006). It was France who started to demand gold to be payed for their U.S. dollars which lead to Nixon being forced to close the gold window in 1971.

One striking difference, as Greenspan explains, is that all of the past recent presidents have used veto for bills or whatever it's called a lot while George W. Bush has not vetoed any bill or so. Huge amounts of spending have just flowed from the current Bush administration, and not only on the Iraq war and anti-terrorist stuff, but somehow massive amounts of money have been spent in the public sector for other purposes. Wtf? What is all that about? Are they building whole underground FEMA cities in the U.S.?!  :D

Too speculative. I just got a better idea. The Bush administration is heavily subsidizing the oil companies because the oil reserves ran out of cheap oil around the year 2000, and now non-cheap oil has to be pumped out which requires advanced technology and much more effort and the production of non-cheap oil is extremely expensive and burdensome!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe.

Another indication of peak oil having been reached is that oil companies have not manufactured any new oil refineries. Crude oil needs to be refined before it can be of any meaningful use. According to Alan Greenspan, no new refineries have been built in the U.S. since 1976 (I think it was), even though there is a need for increased refinery capacity. An oil refinery is a long-term investment, and somehow the oil companies have not found it a worthwhile investment since the 70s!

That story about the lack of oil refineries is bollocks! They are playing with our minds and our pocketbooks... Its not like an oil company cant afford to build new refineries:eek::confused: Something rotten in denmark

One big question is if he has had inside information about what the U.S. military has been planning for example. He describes how he had to figure out facts about the military by comparing and calculating public information because none of that military data was available to him directly, but now that I think about it; that was before he became Chairman of the Fed.
