LONDON (AP) - A giant statue of the ancient Egyptian god of the dead floated down the Thames on Monday, turning heads as it crossed under London's Tower Bridge.

The 25-foot fiberglass representation of the jackal-headed god was taken down the river on the back of a cargo ship to Trafalgar Square, where it will stand for three days before moving to various locations around the capital.

Anubis' arrival is part of an effort to promote an exhibition of the treasures taken from the tomb of the ancient Egyptian King Tutankhamun. The show, "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs," opens Nov. 15 at London's O2, previously known as the Millennium Dome.

Tutankhamun ascended to the throne more than 3,000 years ago _ during Egypt's 18th dynasty period _ while still a child. He reigned for only nine years and had no surviving children. His two stillborn babies were buried with him.

The exhibit, which has previously been touring the United States since June 2005, includes the golden diadem worn by the mummified king when archaeologist Howard Carter uncovered his the tomb in 1922 and four miniature gold coffinettes that held Tutankhamun's internal organs. Items from other royal 18th-dynasty graves will also be on display.

Organizers said the presence of the 5.6-ton black-and-gold statue was a nod to ancient Egyptian belief that Anubis escorted the dead to the underworld and protected them on their journey.

"That's really his role here, today: He's protecting the Tutankhamun exhibition as it leaves America and heads for the U.K," said Ken Kelling, spokesman for Visit London, the city's tourism authority.

More than 300,000 tickets already have been sold or reserved for the exhibition, which runs until Aug. 30, organizers said.

They hijacked Egypt thousands of years ago and have been stealing monuments, statues, bodies, inventions, artifacts, tombs, and who knows what since then. Just take a look at Washington DC. I don't believe 'Anubis' is "bad" though like many other ancient symbols and beings, many have been given evil connotations and meanings over the years.

Nothing wrong with Anubis himself your right, but what they use his image for is likely something else entirely.

With Egyptian Lore.. and the ancient Split Mystery Schools... the REAL Power of Egypt is NEVER going to get into the hands of the unworthy.

Its soooo deep, its not even in words we currently understand today, certainly no Mason or Society of its Ilk will get it at all, they got lost right at the start when the Mysteries went into concealment in totallity because of the Priesthood Power Stuggle, and the ones with the "words" have ALL the Mysteries in Totallity.. and are waiting.. for the consciousness shift... they are not to be expected to "Do everything for us"

They .. are waiting untill the cycle is right .. and see this change emanating forth through MAN.

It's appointed re- surfacing is approching.. it doesn't matter how they attempt to use Anubis .. or any other Egyptian Deity /Demi God /Goddess they cannot use the attributes pure ..in other words they do not nor never will have .... the "Essence" of anything from Guarded Egypt.

What they do not have the "essence" of..... They cannot impower .

The "Essence's" only "talks to " a similar essence... they dont give out information to the unworthy.

Thats the deal Right There.. ask any flawed freemason If thats not so .

All the Love

Namaste.

Actually I agree with you. What I was trying to say is that these symbols still hold negative influence over the subconscious mind if used in a particular way (namely the eye). Now that I think of it though, perhaps the Anubis statue is being used for a different reason such as a ritual.

LOL funny :D For me the Egyptians have nothing to offer. They took part in some very strange rituals. I'd rather go to Morroco.

I saw the King Tut exhibit this summer.....very freaky.
VERY freaky.
All I kept thinking was that there was definitely some kind of alien connection to the Egyptians, and I'm not one to think of aliens much.
