i like the shot where alex is tied up in the cinema. notice the bright light at the top, and the chairs look like a pyramid with alex at the bottom.

I noticed in the golden compass that when the bad group of people were planning their agenda there was a snake and an owl in the room.... so many films have stuff in them nowadays.... I think the films all put out messages... either to inform and enlighten with the art... or to misguide...

Are you joking mate? Its the masterpiece of truth that got him killed!

EDIT: Officially he died in his sleep of a heart attack, but thats not hard to set up.
(he died 4 days after the first screening I believe)

Yeah to be honest with you, I dont find films with tom cruise appealing either. But its a good film.

"Eyes Wide Shut" was his best film.
Was his poorest one imo. Much more Hollywood than his others. Still a decent film.

One of Kubricks tricks in this film was the use of the exit sign in so many scenes,to create confusion in the viewer

yes stanley kubric is well known for his 'knowledge' but in defence of the story A Clockwork Orange was not sun worship in its obvious sence. If anyone has read the book, which i seriously recommend you do, a clockwork orange is about
impossing upon the organic a mechanic way of life without the freedom of choice (alex being manipulated to be non violent without his consent) hence a clockwork orange.

Of course the idea of mind manipulation is right down the MK-ULTRA, mass mind control, fascist state etc theme but the book is anti-control and pro-freedom. Unfortunatly kubric being 'in the know' reversed its sybolism.
Anthony Burgess wrote one of the best works ive ever read. Not much beats it in my opinion

PLEASE GO READ HE BOOK

I've not read the book but will point out that the movie symbolism and the storyline are seperate.
So i agree the story itself may not be about the sun but the symbols that Kubrick created around it are.

But i do believe the name a clockwork orange is a reference to the sun despite Burgess's claims.could that be the eye of horus being symbolised also?

Yeah, true - he did the same with The Shining, totally changed both the endings in his films - hence I suppose stephen King re-doing it and not happy. Clockwork Orange was a great book - ever read any of Burgess' others?

kubrick was very stubborn with his films and was known for taking more shots of scenes than any other director
he is said to hold the record in the shining with over 150 takes supposedly.
So nothing makes a scene that isnt intended to be in it,and no writer would stand in the way of his vision.

I havent read any of burgess's books, but i'm certain in my mind a clockwork orange is a sun reference, who knows maybe even the shining is too, nothing surprises me anymore.
