It costs millions for interpretors to translate English into hundreds of foreign languages every year.

It increases waiting times at hospitals and adds costs to an already overburdened health service. You get sick if you're in another country and see how much free health care (you wouldn't get)

The fact of the matter is, this country is still coming to terms with the last big immigration wave back in the 50's, with the flood of afro-Caribbean, Pakistanis etc.

With regards to immigrants getting priority housing, technically they don't get priority, But under the current system, homeless families with children get priority, and it just so happens most immigration into this country are families with children, and usually an above average amount of children, compared to the British average.

So for that reason, it appears they get special treatment, but in fact they are receiving the same level of service as anyone else.

The only thing that is difficult to understand about this issue is the way in which (privatised) industries work, which you obviously know little about :confused:

They have too many employees TODAY and if they gid rid of some, the same level of staff with the same responsibilities will be able to do the same level of work TOMMORROW

The only reason they were top heavy in staff is because the government used to have money (i.e. lesser loans) to waste in subsidy, but this is where one of the screws is being turned

If these industries never put up a fight, they could eventually be working for less in the long run but this is a long way off

In reality, if they want to work the remaining staff harder it will cost more in overtime

Well I'm from Northern Ireland and the woman interviewing me took me as Irish when I explained that actually because I'm from Northern Ireland technically my nationally is British she changed her tune. I was going to get a one bedroom flat within a week but alas that soon changed after explaining to her. I ended up renting private. Also saw a doc on the box few months ago talking about Reading saying that it now has a large Polish population which wasn't the case 12 years or so ago when I was there. In fact there was a wee bar on the London Road called 'The Battle Inn' which was Irish (mostly) and few Jamaicans at the weekend. Well in this doc it is now a Polish pub owned by Poles. I work in the building trade and have worked with immigrants from Kosovo.

They were getting free housing, food vouchers e.t.c whilst their cases were looked at. None of them were genuine refugees and one boasted that he would have his house in Kosovo paid off in 4 years - circa 20k and rent it out.
