Social services 'warned' about Kent baby killer

A relative of a baby killed by her violent father in Kent claims he warned social services twice about the man before the child was born.
Christopher Sellman, 25, of The Hurst, Tonbridge, was convicted at Maidstone Crown Court of the manslaughter of 25-day-old Tiffany in November 2008.

The court heard that Sellman had a previous conviction for violence and had been cautioned for child cruelty.
Kent County Council said it would not comment until Wednesday.

'Not listened to'
The relative, who asked to remain anonymous, told the BBC he had contacted social services on two occasions to warn them that Sellman's partner was expecting a child.

He said: "I feel the information I passed on was not listened to.
"If they had done more checks on the computer, they may have found something out. Maybe the baby would have been better looked after."
Within 25 days of her being born prematurely, Tiffany suffered a fractured skull and died in hospital after being left in her father's care.

It is only right for all of the agencies involved to look at their practices and seek to learn lessons wherever possible. David WarlockKent Safeguarding Children Board

The youngster's death has been the subject of a serious case review by the Kent Safeguarding Children Board, which is made up of representatives from the county council, police, health and court services.

David Warlock of the Kent Safeguarding Children Board said: "This is a very distressing case and I would like to express my sadness at Tiffany's death.
"The death of any child is deeply upsetting and when a child dies in these circumstances it is only right for all of the agencies involved to look at their practices and seek to learn lessons wherever possible.

"An independent expert from the NSPCC was commissioned by the Kent Safeguarding Children Board to take a thorough and impartial look at all of the agencies' actions to identify what lessons could be learned.
"The findings have been accepted and several recommendations made, all of which are being acted on.

"The Kent Safeguarding Children Board will monitor the impact of these on practice in Kent

No mention of Kent Social Services being forewarned here; in the local Kent Messenger:rolleyes:

'how many families have gone to them with concerns , later to find they do not support families/relatives but instead by-pass relatives in favor of 'forced adoption'?

Kent baby killer warnings not followed up
The head of child services in Kent has blamed "human error" after it emerged a social worker was warned about a man who went on to kill his baby daughter.

One would suppose, it would depend on your definition of 'human'

So nice to see so many ladies from Kent attending this march
for justice, including Councillor Sheena Williams who resigned
from the Conservative party after Kent County Council stole her
grand-daughters for forced adoption. Melizza is absolutely right
they can and do take anybodies children apart from the elite MP’s
of course.

Open up the family courts and let the light and truth shine in,
in the name of truth and justice, shame on the media for keeping
people in the dark.

No mention of Kent Social Services being forewarned here; in
the local Kent Messenger, how many families have gone to them with concerns , later to find they do not support families/relatives but instead by-pass relatives in favor of ‘forced adoption’

http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/news/2010/march/16/sellman_guilty_of_baby_killing.aspx

Kent Messenger recieves hugh sums in advertising from Kent County Council, no wonder they are failing to mention the thousands of children being stolen in Kent for forced adoption

This poor family would have received absolutely no support whatsoever becuase KCC does not approve relatives as fostercarers nor follow the Manchester/Munby Judgement compelling councils to pay the same amount to relatives.

Maybe, the BBC should contact Councillor Sheena Williams if they want the real truth behind Kent SS actions, she also pre-warned them of her concerns about her granddaughters before they stole them for forced adoption

Comment by End Corruption by Councils — March 17,

This appalling situation of Forced Adoption has been ignored on numerous occasions. I have written to the MP’s,MEP’s, Local Councillors, and even to the European Union especially on the issues of Kent County Council. I had a reply from EU to say they were investigatting. None the less nothing has been done. Just goes to show the corruption against children is being ignored, throughout all government departments ask yourself WHY???? My quese is they are they being sold for financial gain. I have put this same argument to the govenment officials and no-one seems able to accept or deny this. WHY??????????

The only way to change things is to collectively stand together to make a difference.

I really liked this posting and I feel the same way. My grandchildren are in a foster home. They wouldn't even consider anyone in our family as good enough to keep them? I don't understand why here in Oregon they want to take so many children away from their mothers. They are far worse off when they get in Foster Home System. My sister's kids were in the system also. This is a sad state of affairs for children to put in? They don't deserve the way they are treated by these facilities. They don't know how damaged they could become, all because they thought that they were doing something good, when they weren't at all. I wished they would think more before they take half of the kid's our of their homes. Plus yes they are definetly in need of more GOOD FOSTER HOMES IN ALL STATE'S AND CITIES AND COUNTRIES EVERY WHERE, PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP THEM NOW!

This has been passed to me

Obviously no 'human' error has been sacked ?

The death of a newborn baby killed by her violent father in Kent could have been prevented, a serious case review has found.
Several opportunities were missed that may have prevented Christopher Sellman, 25, killing 25-day-old Tiffany.

Earlier this week, Kent County Council said an "isolated example of human error" had led to a social worker failing to pass on information about Sellman.

Carers in court battle for cash from County Hall

It is not the first time that KCC has come under fire for the amount it provides for the basic care of vulnerable looked-after children and young people.

This year, 2009-10, is the first that foster carers in the county will receive the Government-recommended minimum allowance.

But in previous years, foster carers have been receiving the lowest payments in the South East, according to figures from the Fostering Network.

FUNNY HOW WHEN SHEENA WILLIAMS MAIDSTONE BOROUGH COUNCILLOR RAISED THIS WHEN SHE CARED FOR HER GRANDDAUGHTERS KCC JUST STOLE THEM INSTEAD

It's time someone got angy with the shit for brains social workers we have in this country.

1. You STARVE a child and "no one" noticed.

IT TAKES A BLOODY LONG TIME TO STARVE A CHILD TO DEATH.

Sack every last bugger involved.

This family needs support from us all the egos of the PTB got in the way and now the family have had to flee:mad:
I know everyone feels there is no smoke without fire yada yada yada but this is not always the case yes children do get abused but the child stealing is becoming a real threat to family life as we know it and there is no smoke at all just parents doing the best for their children not the worst.
Common purpose £££ $$$$ that's the reality behind it all not the welfare of the children not at all. Our children are just a commodity to them not living breathing human beings with feelings. How many more children have to be stolen by the state before people wake up!
