Officials from the top of Government to lowly council officers will be given unprecedented powers to access details of every phone call in Britain under laws coming into force tomorrow.
The new rules compel phone companies to retain information, however private, about all landline and mobile calls, and make them available to some 795 public bodies and quangos.
The move, enacted by the personal decree of Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, will give police and security services a right they have long demanded: to delve at will into the phone records of British citizens and businesses.

Notice how "on the nod" this whole thing went through, now that the government does'nt really as such need pesky old parliment to make laws unless it wants to go through the motions for appearance sake
Now if anyone really wants to give themselves the willies, consider this move, the "official" story that it will extend to the internet in 2009, the ability to place the location of mobile phone calls to within a few feet, the Tetra mast network, and then THIS little beauty:

The new measures were implemented after the Home Secretary signed a 'statutory instrument' on July 26. The process allows the Government to alter laws without a full act of Parliament.
Notice how that part was just 1 paragraph!! Does any of the public actually know anything about this statutory instrument? :eek:

Yeah i agree- but what will happen about it?? Nothing....we'll all just sit and moan about it while it gets put in place....:rolleyes:

Here's one comment on that story ....
If it can help stop terrorism I'm all for it. The authorities can listen in to my phone calls any day and if they feel like reading my emails they'll probably not be able to stop yawning.

Abstract
Background: The DSM criteria for a delusion indicate that it should not include any beliefs held by
a person’s ‘culture or subculture’. The internet has many examples of people reporting ‘mind
control experiences’ (MCEs) on self-published web pages, many of which suggest a community
based around such beliefs and experiences. It was hypothesised that some of these reports are likely
to reflect delusional beliefs and the hyperlinks between web reports were likely to show evidence of
social structure, demonstrating the ‘culture or subculture’ exemption to be increasingly redundant in
light of new technology.
Sampling and Methods: Texts from web sites reporting MCEs (n = 10), experience of cancer (n =
10), depression (n = 10) and being stalked (n = 10) were identified, and were blind-rated by three
independent psychiatrists for the presence of delusions. Hyperlinks from web sites reporting MCEs
were used to create a network structure; this was compared with a size-matched, randomly
generated network and known social networks from the literature using social network analysis.
Conclusions: The sampled web-published accounts of MCEs are highly likely to be influenced by
delusional beliefs. Social network analysis suggests there is significant evidence of an online
community based around these beliefs. The fact that individuals can form a community based on the
content of a potentially delusional belief present a paradox for the DSM diagnostic criteria for a
delusion, and suggests the need to revise and revisit the original operational definition in the light of
these new technological developments.

Im referring to the public....even us here on the forum wouldnt even be a drop in the ocean as to the response thats needed to make an impact with regards to standing up to these new laws!

YES! I quite agree! And has any body noticed that when the 'World cup is on, or a good story line to one of the soaps' something awful happens in the World. It says it to stop criminals and befit fraud ....will they not buy second hand phones and buy pay as you go with cash and not registry there real names and address`s .......fuck they must think people are stupid.
This will F**k up the independent trades man, It will stop them taken on a few lads he might need for the bigger jobs, probably can`t employ them full time but
might need extra help for a few days.Plus might stop them doing cash job on the side.
I know there are people that take the piss out off the benefit system, but stuff like this will stop alot of people getting back on there feet.If I was on the dole and a trandman I new ask if I like work cash in hand for a day or two I would do it for two reasons a)the cash b) it might lead to a proper job as you might get regular work from him or might other tradesmen look for good working lads,If somebody looking for a person and see`s you grafting away with another tradesman you are more likely to get the job.Also you might find out who and were theres jobs going and be able to drop a few names who you have been working for, sometimes its not what you know but who you know.

But believe it or not (to my dismay) They are so many honest and good abiding citizens in this country, who abide by the rules! HOW DO WE SAVE THEM FROM THEMSELVES:eek:

The bugger of it is, its impossible to save anyone from themselves, because only they have that power
All we can do is continue to create opportunities to inspire and weather the weather, whatever it may be
(And if we end up with a Pole Shift, phone survaillance will be right down the list of issues!)

For what it is worth, I have just sent an email to our MP. Now I will just sit back and wait for the returning rant about how ludicrous I am being for daring to suggest that we are plunging further into the Orwellian state - or perhaps I will press the delete button without bothering to read it!
One thing is for sure - our MP is NOT George Galloway or Georgina for that matter. :mad::mad:

They've been tapping us from day one because it's the real reason why we have phones, computers, etc... They don't allow us to have anything that is no use for them because even the 'usable' (for them) things backfire (internet). It's the trapped and knowing self (subconsciousness) that is making our 'masters' rough time.
And yes we cannot think for others let alone save them from themselves. I agree with you john white. I think the best think for us to do is to have faith (not religious crap) in them. If we could wake ourselves up why shouldn't they. They are no different than us, just more manipulated. But the above doesn't mean we have to stand still, we should help them in any way we can.
Thats all we need council pen pushers/benefit claims people making assumptions/judgments on my phone usage, You will be pre judged/pigeon holed before you get a chance to talk to these people.
