Why buy the cow - (who needs a cow)- when you can get the mother's milk for free says one Top New York City Chef. Daniel Angerer and Lori Mason, his wife and partner in Klee Brasserie, have begun serving up Mothers Milk Cheese and invite you try their tangy and titillating creation. The couple are so happy with their innovative approach for utilizing the surplus milk that they have posted a recipe for making it at home on his blog.

Angerer states that "being a chef, you're curious about anything in terms of flavor -- you are always looking out for something new and what you can do with it." Angerer has commented that his wife's breast milk reminds him of the cow's milk that he'd pick up from a farm in Austria when he was a child..."It was still warm and it would sour the next day." The esteemed chef says that two gallons of the breast milk yielded almost two quarts of cheese. "After two weeks aging, it was somewhat like a raw-milk cheese -- it had all the flavors in there. It tastes just like really sweet cow's milk.

Angerer says he came up with the idea when their baby was four weeks old and the bags of frozen milk were accumulating in the freezer. Rather then let it go to waste he chose to make some new creations with the abundance of mothers milk his wife was producing. "Our baby has plenty of back-up mother's milk in the freezer so as long as the steady supply lasts you're welcome to try it."

While Angerer and PETA espouse the benefits of these tasty products and delicacies made from mothers milk Women's groups across the country are saying breasts are for suckling not milking and encouraging people to just say no to what they call a "nauseating concoction" .

Produced from the milk of underpaid women working in virtual sweatshops pumping, bagging, packing and shipping it as fast as the orders roll in, this new industry has a long way to go before drinking mothers milk and eating its products is no longer seen as taboo.

There are many people who do and will eat or drink any product made from freshly squeezed breast milk. Either way business must be picking in the slow economy at Klee's with Angerer inviting the world to drop in and taste his wife's breast milk cheese.
