US anti-gay rights senator Roy Ashburn comes out
Senator Ashburn, 55, is a divorced father-of-four.
A conservative US state senator who has voted against gay rights measures during his 14 years in office has confessed he is gay.
Republican Roy Ashburn came out during a radio interview in California, where
he sits on the state legislature.
He has been on leave since his arrest last week on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Mr Ashburn said his votes reflected the way his constituents wanted him to vote, not his own "internal conflict".
"I am gay... those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long," the 55-year-old divorced father-of-four told KERN radio.
Mr Ashburn said he felt the need to address rumours that he had visited a gay nightclub before his arrest on suspicion of drinking and driving in Sacramento on 3 March.
Last year, Mr Ashburn opposed a bill to establish a day of recognition to honour murdered gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
He has also voted in the statehouse against efforts to expand anti-discrimination laws and recognise out-of-state gay marriages.
Mr Ashburn, who represents California's 18th district, said he does not plan to run for any public office after his term ends later this year.

Well... two words: "Bohemian Grove".
The ones that get the scandals are probaly the ones that potentially rebel against their masters. Think about it.
There's a big scandal against a WA state senator who tried to ban derivitives trading on the federal level... coincidence? yeah right.

Senator Ashburn, 55, is a divorced father-of-four.
I'm sure he didn't enjoy the sex because he was of course born gay.
Tom sing if you're glad to be gay Robinson went the other way and fathered a child in later life.
They can't help it, it's just the way God made them.
Or something.

"Massa investigated for allegedly groping staffers"
By Carol D. Leonnig
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, March 10, 2010
Not long after Eric Massa joined Congress in January 2009, several male staff members began to feel uncomfortable with the sexually loaded language their boss routinely used, according to accounts relayed to the House ethics committee.
As the months passed, rumors began to circulate in the office that the married New York Democrat had sexually propositioned young male staffers and interns -- allegations, according to two sources with knowledge of the inquiry, that included Massa groping at least two aides.
In the second week of February, Massa's deputy chief of staff contacted the office of Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer for help in dealing with the accusations. Once Hoyer (D-Md.) himself became aware of the claims, he delivered an ultimatum to Massa's office: Report the staffers' complaints to the ethics committee within 48 hours, or Hoyer would do it for them.
Last week, the panel's investigation became public, and Massa resigned, effective Monday.
Massa went on television Tuesday night for the first time since the allegations surfaced, but his comments in two cable television interviews contradicted earlier statements, serving only to raise more questions.
The freshman Democrat told Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck that "not only did I grope [a staffer], I tickled him until he couldn't breathe," then said hours later on CNN's "Larry King Live" that "it is not true" that he groped anyone on his staff.
He told Beck that he resigned from the House because he made the mistake of "getting too familiar with my staff" members, but he told King that he left primarily for health reasons. Massa, 50, has survived non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but he said he is afraid that he is facing his "third major cancer-recurrence scare."
On Sunday, Massa said he was set up by powerful Democrats such as White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) as part of an effort to remove opponents of health-care reform legislation. He backed away from that claim Tuesday, telling Beck, "I wasn't forced out. I forced myself out."
"The notion that somehow the White House had anything to do with the series of events . . . is silly and ridiculous," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday, while Pelosi said in an interview with PBS's Charlie Rose that Massa is "a very sick person. He has been diagnosed with cancer." She added, "Perhaps his judgment is impaired because of the ethical issues that have arisen."
Massa told a radio reporter last weekend that he did not know about the ethics investigation until he read about it in an online news story and that Hoyer never contacted him about the allegations. He repeated those points Tuesday night.
But his staff earlier said Massa had been contacted by committee investigators.
Massa said on CNN that his former deputy chief of staff, Ron Hikel, "never said a word to me" about his concerns, and that the news that his aide had gone to Hoyer's office about them "breaks my heart....... " (cont)

Eric Massa Says he Groped Staffer -- Non Sexually
Posted by Brian Montopoli

Eric Massa, the New York Democrat who resigned from the House in the wake of a House ethics inquiry into charges that he behaved inappropriately with male staffers, told Fox News' Glenn Beck Tuesday that he did grope a staffer.
"Yeah, I did," he said when asked if he had groped a staffer. "Well, not really grope him. I tickled him 'til he couldn't breathe and then four guys jumped on me. It was my 50th birthday."
He said he never touched or groped anyone sexually, however. "I did nothing sexual," Massa said, adding that he did not act criminally.
He said he had been warned that it was inappropriate that he shared a townhouse with five members of his staff.
"My chief of staff said, 'You can't live there; it's not Congressional,'" he told Beck.
Massa also said he had used "inappropriate language," and that he takes "full and complete responsibility for my misbehavior."
Reports broke Tuesday afternoon that Massa was under investigation by the House ethics committee for allegations he groped at least three male staffers and had conducted himself improperly with interns and aides.
"My behavior was wrong," Massa told Beck. "I should have never allowed myself to be as familiar with my staff as I was. I never translated from my days in the Navy to being a Congressman."
Massa then pulled out a book showing a Navy "Crossing the Line" ceremony and compared it to an "orgy in Caligula," saying behavior in the Navy in the past would not be considered acceptable today.
Massa had previously acknowledged he grabed an aide at a wedding and joked that he should be "frakking" him before touching the aide's hair and leaving.
"I wasn't forced out. I forced myself out. I failed," he told Beck. "I didn't live up to my own codes. I own this."
Massa has previously charged that the White House forced him out because of his opposition to health care reform legislation, a charge White House press secretary has called "ridiculous" and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer deemed "absurd."
"This administration and this House leadership have said, quote-unquote, they will stop at nothing to pass this health care bill, and now they've gotten rid of me and it will pass," he said.
He has accused White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel of intimidation and suggested Emanuel angrily approached him in the shower over a vote.
"Rahm Emanuel hates me," Massa told Beck.
Massa complained that lawmakers have no choice but to continually raise money for their reelection, deeming the system "out of control." He suggested the situation amounted to "bribery" in which votes are essentially bought and sold and complained of spending five hours per day "begging for money."
Massa, who will also appear on CNN Tuesday, showed Beck an x-ray while discussing the recurrence of cancer that he has cited as one reason he is leaving office.
"I have completely abandoned my family for five years," Massa said in explaining his decision to resign, saying he no longer had the "life energy" to remain in Congress.
Beck called the interview a waste of time as he wrapped up his show.
Massa has become something of a conservative hero in recent days for his claims about the White House and Congressional Democrats, an odd development in light of his progressive beliefs. Rush Limbaugh vowed to make his claims a "national story" and The Drudge Report trumpeted his claim that Emanuel is "the devil's spawn" who "who would sell his mother to get a vote."
His resignation means the ethics committee will not investigate his conduct."

Not necessarily. That somebody doesn't necessarily believe in the promotion of the gay lifestyle, or the granting of special rights, doesn't really say anything about their own sexuality.
There are many gays who have no desire to adopt children, and therefore the laws regarding adoption are of little interest to them.
Also, many gay people are aware that the promotion of homosexuality is to reduce population. They don't necessarily agree with that agenda.
Blanket statements like the above are quite misguided. :)
After all, we all know how blacks, gays, and Muslims should all get on really well with each other, since they are all a persecuted minority group. But that doesn't necessarily work in practice either.

Not necessarily. That somebody doesn't necessarily believe in the promotion of the gay lifestyle, or the granting of special rights, doesn't really say anything about their own sexuality.
That would be 'Equal', not "special" rights. Of course not everyone anti-gay or against 'Equal rights' for Gay people is gay. some are bi-sexual. some are heterosexual. I don't think anyone was claiming otherwise.
There are many gays who have no desire to adopt children, and therefore the laws regarding adoption are of little interest to them.
Not sure how your point relates to thread, but in any case, nobody said (that I've seen) all gay people wish to adopt.
Also, many gay people are aware that the promotion of homosexuality is to reduce population. They don't necessarily agree with that agenda.
really? how many? have you got some facts and figures on that? or is it in fact personal opinion? And is "promotion" merely your (and some others') personal perception of what other people perceive as "equality"?
Blanket statements like the above are quite misguided. :)
oh dear. it wasn't a factual 'blanket statement' but a small dose of humour. Perhaps not to your approval, but was clearly intended as humour all the same.
After all, we all know how blacks, gays, and Muslims should all get on really well with each other, since they are all a persecuted minority group. But that doesn't necessarily work in practice either.
am not really sure what your last point is doing here or why you are making it? Or how it relates to thread? Nobody said all Gay people "get on really well". No idea where you got that idea from.
