America has plenty of stations, is there any good interesting programmes that can expand the mind?

OK. There are court shows where people, family are suing each other over BS money! Soap Operas where people intermarry several times and commit crimes effortlessly against each other. Commercials that tempt you into craving fast food and buying worthless gadgets... need I go on?

What's T.V. again?
Oh yeah, it's that little black box in the corner that tries to get me to believe I'm a worthless, low life, brain dead idiot who can't make his own decisions..
Erm, nothings changed then

yea ages old ppl wold have a shrine (to a goddess) in there homes, and ppl would discuss and come together in the "family " room
now the shrine is replaced by the t.v. and ppl now worship this t.v. as a deity

Cordial Felicitations:
Current Programming is totaly revelatory of the Values and Judgements of contemporary American Life. It is a Nightmare! Sex & the City, Desparate Housewives, the Sopranos, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Ann Coulter etcetera.
Fortunately, with so many channels, 100+, there is ALWAYS, something worthwhile if one desires Audo & Visual Stimulation.
It is up to your personal discernment, but it seems the Majority are in very 'sorry' shape.
Have you ever seen American T.V. from the 60s? Gilligans Island? Mister Ed? MacHales Navy? the Beverly Hillbillies? Funny, Clever, Charming. Those days are long gone. Walter Cronkite
Kind Regards: Snoopsnuffleopagus

There are some good educational shows about the environment, science, and history. Some comedy. Most is garbage... programming that glorifies everything the other cultures hate about America. And then there's Fox News... :(

Tv in usa is like PRAVDA once was in Russia. You have to read between the lies.
TV can expand the mind if you watch it from the perspective of knowing it is mostly propaganda, lies.
I watched the news durring and after 911, very mind opening. There was truth to be seen there if one watched from the proper perspective.
There are great cooking shows where you can learn to cook, and you could watch Ultimate Fighter to keep up on the latest forms of hand-to-hand combat. On TV, you can see the control mechanism at work, ie: Rosie O'donnel is gone now because she spoke out about 911 being an inside job; O'Reilly so obviously trys to control thought through his anger and yelling...
TV is great. Take it in moderation. Once you know the truth, you can't unlearn it. Watch the news. One day you might have to act like a brainwashed just to get from point A to point B... alive.

The only thing that I can think of that might be mind expanding would be a nature show on PBS.

I dont watch any nowadays but when I was in the states in 2003 I watched some just out of curiosity and its just a nightmare of adverts, terror alerts and complete shite. Unbelieveable that people actually tune in regularly to be brainwashed like that.
Horrible, horrible stuff.
since i do not watch TV -- anytime i do i "pickup things" easily
so....i caught a glimpse of TV series promo with that cop lady saying :
"SWAT Team is like your family"
say what???? SWAT Team is now your FAMILY?
remember that shipple when they knock down your door in 3:00AM.
me thinks -- it is just more brainwashing and predictive programming
and all of the wost despicable shite is fed into brains of young via VH1 and MTV!
I cannot believe the level of sophisticated programming methods that are used on young!
every vile shit that exist is there, especially on VH1!!!!

I often jokingly say if you don't believe what I say about TV turn on MTV or VH1 for 30 seconds and tell me you don't feel stupider for watching it. lol Any time during the day it doesn't matter, if it's on one of those channels it will rot your brain.

It's all brain numbing garbage. Except Lost. I'm hooked on that show. A work of art for a TV show.

Oh, it's definately better on DVD but I don't have the patience to wait. What is up with that island? Oh , you haven't seen the third season yet. More and more questions. They must be in some kind of dimensional limbo or something.
I can't wait for the new season.
