View Full Version : Integrating love and fear

Let's say that I have fears about not having enough money. That's an unpleasant feeling. But the unpleasantness only comes from me allowing the fear to burden me. If I try to ignore or run away from the fear, then that will only make things worse and the fear will turn into a subconscious monster shadow.
Trying to solve the problem by always making sure that I have enough money and will have enough money will still lead to an unpleasant feeling, because I cannot be 100% sure about the future so there will still be a hideous fear lurking subconsciously in my mind and that will generate all sorts of unpleasant feelings and likely even physical diseases of all sorts.
The fear has to be integrated within myself. Only then will the fear be felt as pleasant. How can that be done? I must first understand the fear. Then I will realize that I cannot solve the fear on the ordinary level of protection. The only option then left is to grok the fear itself. Not what the fear is about, for that can never be solved. The fear itself. In the book 'Dune' they said: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer...". That's the wrong approach. The correct approach is to feel the fear directly and let it become a more pleasant feeling.

I'm sure we've all dealt with this exact same fear in one way or another throughout our lives. I feel you may be correct in your analysis of how this fear must be treated, though obviously it is much easier said than done when taking on such a process. The fear is constantly rekindled by continuous reminders of how much we are convinced we 'need' money on a daily (or perhaps much more frequent) basis. The baggage of frustrations and doubts that each of these reminders carry is what makes it so difficult to transform. From there we tend to amplify this fear by becoming desperate and frantic as to how to resolve the issue of money whether we realize it or not. Indeed, the very creation of currency has served as a tool of restraint for our minds to deter us from focusing on what truly matters. It is a very recently introduced system as it can be discovered when properly researched to the ROOT. Once the souls of this 'planet' are all aware of the fact we don't now, ever have, and never will need any form of currency only then can this restraint be broken and forgotten. Until then, it seems transforming it's accompanying fears into a pleasant feeling will have to do.

That's my strategy. It seems that no matter what financial security, health insurance policies, secured social relationships etc we have, the bottom line fear will still remain. The fear is useful many times. The problem is that fear has become an immense burden, at least for me.
One practice could be to train one's rational mind to see the bottom line fear as an unsolvable problem on the rational/logical level. Then the mind will not move into endless streams of excessive worrisome thinking about how to solve the problems of security. That will make the mind more selective about what fears and problems to try to solve. And the rational mind will then only deal with concrete practical fears and problems instead of constantly dwelling on the unsolvable level of deep fears.

I understand what you mean, it has become an immense burden for me as well. One that feels as said by Morpheus "A splinter in your mind".
Fear as it relates to currency often if not always takes on the characteristics of a bottomless well when we begin worrying about it. As mentioned, to gather and focus our energy on the other more easily approachable fears is key. To reduce the worrying of said fear will enable us to better see and understand the others. The saying that "Money is the root of all evil" is true to an extent when we substitute the word 'evil' with 'fear'. I must agree you are absolutely right and as a self admitted victim of this fear I find myself having to practice these 'techniques', for lack of a better word. This thread is an invaluable positive reminder for me of what I must do.

Maybe that's true. I haven't grokked the whole fear thing yet. But I'm sure my emotional and physical health would improve greatly if I could sort out the difference between the useful kind of fear and the harmful kind of fear.

It's also very messy, because the fear of not having enough money is related to other fears such as fears about health, aging, social relationships, events in the world, strangers, criminality, what other people think and on and on.
Useful fears are the fears that can be used for finding constructive and practical solutions. Crap fears are the fears that are unsolvable or misleading. The difficulty is to find out which fears are which.

Exactly, which is why I referred to it as the "root of all fear" because many times it acts as the trunk of a tree while others such as those you noted act as the branches. Social relationships is definitely a pesky branch lol.
Differentiating between fears that can be used or channeled and the rest can indeed be a confusing task. Perhaps the fear of death is one that can be transformed into a more revolutionary form? I've observed that those who live in absence of it go on to accomplish more goals and lead more fulfilled lives or more than can be expected given our circumstances.

Fear has a freezing quality that keeps energy trapped. By softening up the fear, as in melting it, the trapped energy is released and can fuel the person's life that previously was held rigid/'frozen' by the fear.

Very much so and its a process that yields great reward and feeling. One of the keys to escaping this loop we live in and certainly something all of us across the world should focus on accomplishing before it becomes too late.

One trick that can be used for releasing trapped energy in the form of fear is to examine external authority. All external authority is nothing but rules and regulations, and thus it is the external authority that is rigid/fixed/frozen and not the human mind.
When we fail to see that external authority is frozen we allow that external authority to control us and artificially make our minds frozen by fear. The frozen fear cannot move, and so for the mind to be able to move within the oppressive field of external authority imposed on it, a lot of frustration and anger is generated.
We must learn how to make our own minds flexible and not allow external authority to freeze our minds.

True and awareness is integral to this as well in order to better understand these external authorities and their nature of control. Fortunately some already possess a suitable level to engage in the examination, self reflection, and movement necessary. Others will become aware but whether or not they wish to from the heart is entirely up to them. Being the impatient person that I am I often find myself being one of those who become frustrated yet I usually suppress it but it becomes a going back and forth at times. Very useful topic you have here, it has caused me to do a bit of my own reflecting as well. More threads like this is what we need.

Fear about food is a BIG issue. That is something that needs very careful examination.

Frustration comes from the hardened shell of personal protection. Fear creates an eggshell around the person and that rigid eggshell creates anger, restlessness and frustration when it vibrates.
