Well if you have any ideas as to how we can stop Monsanto & the likes I am all ears...
& yeah I know politicians don't give a shit, I write them all the time and they never write back except on rare occasions to tell me they can't do anything about anything. But is it going to hurt anything to try this way. Jesus christ.

I'm not complacent. I'm gonna start a petition asking for petitions to be taken seriously.
Can anyone link me to the last successful online petition?

Sad but true. Every petition I've seen just gets a f*ck off response from gov.
Having said that I guess it doesn't hurt for people to register their concerns, at least they will know there are people out here who have a different pov, not that they give a shit!

There'd probably be a better response if this was in the Survival / Local Economies / Communities part of this forum.

The best way to start is at your local supermarket by way of pressuring them to stop using GM ingredients in their private label products and ultimately ban any brands or products that use GMOs.
This website will help you organize a supermarket campaign: http://www.organicconsumers.org/supermarket/
Even though this was a Safeway Supermarket flyer campaign you can apply this model to any supermarket chain and use the guide accordingly. My local supermarket is the "Associated" brand. I got the neighbors in my building involved along with some local mothers in the area. No change yet but it's a start and at least we're getting the word out.
Step-by-step directions, flyers and media kits can be downloaded here (scroll down to "Supermarket Campaign" section):
http://www.organicconsumers.org/publications.cfm#mkt.
It won't be easy but if you organize a group of friends and neighbors who share your vision I think you will have success. Your local supermarket values your business and will listen if you threaten to stop frequenting their establishment.

The Hollie Greig case on Facebook (over 10,000 names) until somebody took notice of it and got it closed down (today)

And?
That was people coming together and planning. Not people signing their name to a "Down with this kind of thing" list.
As long as people can sign a petition and think to themselves "well, I've done my bit" then not a lot is gonna change!

Sorry....I didn't mean to take the thread off track, so to speak. I was just making a general point about what TPTB can do when they do suddenly get a jolt and sit up and notice. The Hollie Greig case being such an example.
As for the petition, I'm all for it and have signed up. :)
Every little helps.

Of course it will get laughed at,shat upon, and f@cked off by lawmakers...
Often I wonder if these petition sites aren't just data mining government intelligence operations.
...at least they will know where the people are out here who have a different pov...
Yeah ,well i did sign, In HOPE that it might help CHANGE what they're doing to us...But then, much to my dismay,
I clicked on the home page and realized that this is pure steer manure...    https://s3.amazonaws.com/fooddemocracynow/images/Michelle_Obama_School.jpgLisa Stokke:
She supported President-Elect Obama through the caucuses and also the general election as a precinct captain and volunteer.
Lisa looks forward to the approaching change in administration and is hopeful that our new president
will ensure the implementation of policy changes so that her children have a sustainable future in America.

I figured it would get the most views here, oh well...

Well that's disappointing... I still think the petition is a good one though...

Fortunately that is not what most people do... at least on here... I hope :D

2/04/10 - UPDATE: while the fake "Food Safety" Bill S510 remains stalled in the Senate, after our November Blitz sent more than 150,000 emails to the Senate over one long weekend, this week Sen John McCain announced that he was offering another "safety" bill, S 3002. This alleged "safety" bill is aimed at the type of food called "Dietary Supplement" in a blatant attempt to undermine your freedom to access high potency vitamins, minerals and other dietary supplements which Americans have enjoyed since a unanimous Congress adopted the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA). The McCain bill seeks to overthrow major provisions of the current law and force "HARMonization" with international Codex Alimentarius (so-called "World Food Code") restrictions on our food and health freedoms.
See our analysis of the bill at: http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=4608 and please take the Action below; we've modified it to include the new bill; please send this new message to your Senators, even if you've already used the earlier version of this Action Item. See also: http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=4615 for our Health Freedom Action eAlert eblast on this issue -- and please forward that link to all your contacts.
