Hi everyone, what kind of music are you listening to at the moment?

Me:

Jarvis Cocker's new album
Iron Maiden
Depeche Mode
Smashing Pumpkins
The Smiths

Over to you...............................

Micheal Franti 'Yell Fire'
and believe it or not a kiwi band called Shapeshifter. They play a form of house called 'liquard D&B' its a fusion
Bjork hyperballad my favorite
and of cause I will always and for ever listen to the great Bob Marley
try listening to ONE LOVE and RASTAMAN VIBRATIONS and COULD YOU BE LOVED.
No matter what everytime I listen to his music I always hear something new. I listen to him when I get frustrated and he calms me down. I discovered resently some of his old stuff, SIMMERDOWN and ONE CUP OF COFFEE etc
enjoy:)

Seems a bit masonic, but the mods should like it ;)

WHERE WERE YOU HIDING: The Alarm

Born into a war and peace
Forced to choose between right and wrong
Each man kills the thing he loves
For better or for worse
Face to face with a ragged truth
Mixed up and torn in two
Turned you back on the only thing
That could save you from yourself

WHERE WERE YOU HIDING
WHEN THE STORM BROKE
WHEN THE RAIN BEGAN TO FALL
WHEN THE THUNDER AND THE LIGHTNING STRUCK
AND THE RAIN AND THE FOUR WINDS DID HOWL

After all time building up
Comes inevtiable knocking down ONE BY ONE
Comes receivers liars gamblers
Pick pocket entourage TWO BY TWO
Selling out is a cardinal sin
Sinning with a safety net THREE BY THREE
They say all things come in threes
Here comes the third degree

WHERE WERE YOU HIDING
WHEN THE STORM BROKE
WHEN THE RAIN BEGAN TO FALL
WHEN THE THUNDER AND THE LIGHTNING STRUCK
AND THE RAIN AND THE FOUR WINDS DID HOWL

All cards are marked
All fates will collide
The truth is the truth
Or the truth is surely a lie
Get back in your shelter
If you can't come down off the fence
And one more question
Where were you?

WHERE WERE YOU HIDING
WHEN THE STORM BROKE
WHEN THE RAIN BEGAN TO FALL
WHEN THE THUNDER AND THE LIGHTNING STRUCK
AND THE RAIN AND THE FOUR WINDS DID HOWL

EDIT: spelling again

Right now I'm listening to Oh Lord, Why Lord Prayer, by Parliment who later became Parliment Funkadelic.

I'm thinking of putting an MP3 disk together of the 100 best songs never played on mainstream radio. I'll keep ya posted.

Right Now I'm Listening to :

"God Give Me The Strength To Carry On" by The Pretty Things.

Which is a pretty incredible track considering they took a break of 20 years, and came back with this 7 minute gospel funk masterpiece that make the hairs on your neck stand on end.

This is what, with a review, great stuff:)

Javi Canovas
Impasse

The sound of a windswept coastline backed by undulating drones provides a rather 'visual' but also impressive start to 'Sun Radiating'. Things become more majestic with the introduction of an Organ. It's as if a fantastic landscape is being revealed before us as the dawn breaks.

A superb sequence surges forwards contrasted by ethereal mellotron and all of a sudden the whole track explodes from its tranquil beginnings. Nice thick lead lines add that little menace then another sequence, a little more melodic than the first, is brought into play. It acts more like another lead line actually giving extra dynamics to the piece as it rises and falls in the mix. There is so much going on now that it is hard to keep track of it all but by ek, its devastating stuff! It even has its Node like moments! Unbelievably things become even more intense with five minutes to go as just the right amount of rhythm (actually more like another sequence line) in added as well as yet more excellent leads. This really must be one of the best sequencer driven tracks I have heard all year. Never has twenty minutes flown by so quickly.

'North of Circle' uses magnificent metallic, but still rather delicate, shimmering drones to create a feeling of cold desolation. These are then complemented by mellotron choir effects on which another superb sequence rides as if surfing a wave. Javi knows how to wield those note patterns like a seasoned Berlin School veteran which as far as I know he certainly ain't. This really is very impressive stuff. The sequence morphs this way and that, then as in the first track another is brought into play heralding the entrance of more excellent pitch bending leads. If anything this track is even more sequence dominated than the first, even approaching Head Space Technology levels but maybe not quite as OTT. Played loud this level of sequencing must surely give the whole body repetitive vibration disorder, keeping you shaking well after the music is finished!

'Zenith' has a dark brooding beginning, again Node or even Redshift came to mind but this time representing their more sinister atmospheric sides. We get five minutes of this then in rumbles the inevitable sequence. Yet again it's another stonking one that just seems to get better with each surge of pulsations. The mellotron can again be heard. Some would say that the track is just following a tried and trusted formula, and I suppose it is but it is done so wonderfully well. The thing is that the sequences are pure class and with music such as this that is what everything else hangs on. What is more those 'everything elses' that are hanging on it are pretty damned good as well. If you are into sequencer driven Berlin School music you really have to give this a try. (DL)

ah :) I remember all of those, I especially liked the 'body count in the house' (I think that is what it was called) from Ice T, but now I haven't even heard about the guy in years.
I haven't heard about Mars Volten but I like both Incubus and Linkin Park.

If this is the music you guys liked I guess the 'BARBS' must have been pretty cool.

I have very little knowledge on computers so im sorry i cant help you with how to post sounds, but I would love to hear some.

Labi Siffre

Something Inside So Strong

The higher you build your barriers
The taller I become
The farther you take my rights away
The faster I will run
You can deny me
You can decide to turn your face away
No matter, cos there's....
(chorus)
Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong

The more you refuse to hear my voice
The louder I will sing
You hide behind walls of Jericho
Your lies will come tumbling
Deny my place in time
You squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine so brightly
It will blind you
Cos there's......

(chorus)

Brothers and sisters
When they insist we're just not good enough
When we know better
Just look 'em in the eyes and say
I'm gonna do it anyway x 4
(chorus)

If you haven't listened to Can I'd highly recommend it.

They're pretty much 1970's 'techno'-psychedelic-progressive rock.

The lead singer is tri-lingual, German / Japanese / English, so
you usually haven't a clue what they're saying, but it doesn't matter :)

Subtle - Red, White, and Blonde

After all...
No one has to hatch these days....

since eating ones own shell is so depressing
scowering your liquid rhine for those first few vitamins

all To euthanize the yolk slicked white horse you rode in on
to stand and wipe the blue birth blood from your eyes alone

No one spits up mothers milk at 21
wearing their umbilical cord outside their clothing
at a highschool dance or sits
brushing the blue birth blood from their hair at 30something

These are the days of anyone being blonde
The days of mind convincing and the god/luck medium

a time of gold and uncertainty
noise and expensive genetic victory

The proper time for bright black clothes and last ditch diets

The information age and all its molecular pimping

These are salutations
from a nebulous and smoking 90's
base anthems of an American cancer soiciety
cold Fork and fuel of the terrible great nothing much

If you don't mind 'working' a bit for your musical enjoyment - you'll be rewarded more than you ever have before, I promise.

I get the impression I'm quite straight-laced compared to many people here (that's not to say I'm not odd, or that you're all nutters! :D ) but this does SERIOUS things to my head.

The Disappearance of the Universe Gary Renard
What would you do if you were sitting quietly in your living room when a mysterious couple suddenly appeared from out of nowhere, and then told you they were "ascended masters" who had come to reveal some shocking secrets of existence and teach you the miraculous power of advanced forgiveness? Would you call the cops? Call a psychiatrist? Call out for pizza?

When two such teachers appeared before Gary Renard in 1992, he chose to listen to them. (And ask a lot of questions.) The result is this startling audiobook: An extraordinary record of 17 mind-bending conversations that took place over nearly a decade, reorienting the author's life, and giving the world an uncompromising introduction to a spiritual teaching destined to change human history.

A really good book:) that will advance the Spiritual development of those who are ready for it.

Opeth are a progressive rock-death metal band. You shold check out their album 'Damnation' which is a prog rock gem imho.

It"s a Steve wilson project and it"s very trippy with soundscapes etc no lyrics or melodies. good if you like that sort of thing. I quite like deadwing, but it took several listens. Start of something beautiful is my fave and arriving somewhere but not here.

I don’t normally listen to music although every now and again I’ll have a dream with a tune in it, just a few lines sung or hummed to me so when conscious I’ll search for the song which I know little or nothing about but when found (google is so good) I kind of enjoy listening to my dream songs….Such as the following:-

Lately I haven't been wasting my time with music.

I've taken to listening to this guy, who hosts a 1-hour prerecorded radio show "The Law Hour and Editorial Review". Hilarious and makes some good points, although he is a little heavy on the bible. But at 70, he gives you a different view:

http://db.georgegordon.com/

Good one to start with, he discusses the food crisis and 'shortages'.
