The US central bank is looking into Goldman Sachs’s role in arranging contentious derivatives trades for Greece, which helped the country to massage its public finances, Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, revealed on Thursday.

“We are looking into a number of questions relating to Goldman Sachs and other companies and their derivatives arrangements with Greece,” Mr Bernanke said, apparently referring to Greek currency transactions structured by Goldman.

Testifying before Congress, Mr Bernanke also responded to concerns that instability in markets for Greek debt and other securities has been heightened by trading in other derivatives, known as credit default swaps, which compensate investors in case of default.

Mr Bernanke said default swaps are “properly used as hedging instruments” and that “using these instruments in a way that intentionally destabilises a company or a country is counterproductive”.

It's not counterproductive to the guy making billions of dollars off of it. Bernanke is nothing but a state sponsored white collar criminal. People who worked inside the derivatives market when it first emerged said that they should be regulated, and if they weren't there would be widescale abuse. Yeah, and these people were fired, blacklisted, and discredited.

Goldman Sachs devise financial means and instruments to hide the Greek financial mess.

Goldman Sachs invests [very, very heavily] in put options against the Euro, in an orchestrated and collective "move" by the Wall Street 'Big Boys'.

... and noone sees a conflict of interest here?

Its akin to insider trading.
Also reeks of market manipulation.

Goldman Sachs helped hide the problem [picking up extortionate fees and commissions] then, armed with the truth [which they have helped keep from 'the market'], they then play the other side of the market for massive financial gains???

C'mon ... this is obscene!
