Nowadays its seems anyone can extend their 15 mins, but what baffles me is who actually decides this guy/girl is great.
There is Britney, Paris and all other actor/ess who are getting plenty of spotlight and unfortunately the real talented ones are left behind.

Why are we all such sheeple, and follow what is decided in who is good or not. Come on folks, do you really look up to Britney, who blindly supports Bush the second. Or do we really think that John Wayne is the true hero who can protect.
Unfortunately in the UK, many newspapers and magazines are devoted to the cult of celebrity.

They keep churning out these moronic "women's" magazines full of celeb gossip. You'll see their ads on tv showing women getting really excited about reading this crap.

You know tin menace, in the UK we have no talents being a celebrity, for example Jade Goody. As a Indian woman, I did find her not a racist but ignorant - at least she gave her fee to an Indian kids charity. I feel Jade was used and abused by the powers above, for she was not very well-educated, not classed as a beauty and from a rough background. The abuse she received would have destoyed many, and now she's in tatters. As for Shilpa she is an arrogant Brahmin, who don't care two hoots on the average indian kid.
We should really have our own choices for celebrities.
I do not buy the magazines anymore, but I do read the Mail, the first magazine and I watch Eastenders cos it's laughable. It's like Micheal Moore says, you've got to read what the powers think to beat them.

Why do we need celebrities at all? Actually, this thread sounds a
lot like a gossip column to discuss celebrities to me!
Ah dam, and I've just gone and subscribed to it

Limelady, we do need some celebrities to admire and enjoy the art of.
My favourite all time comedian is Peter sellars and his wife Britt was great to look at. Also some celebrities are very good and are into good things, especially with charity work.

Celebrities are just a 3D trapping.

I'll rather look up to a very talented celebrity, than a member of the Royal Family anyday of the week.
