after applying for a new job i got a good responce and it was lookinh like i'd get an interview soon until i got this email:

Kalamazoo-Reynolds has a very strict non smoking policy in place which prevents us from employing smokers. As you are currently a smoker I'm afraid I will not be able to proceed any further with your application.

my workmate at my last job was telling me his mrs works for a company that makes jewlery and there have been taken over by another company and on there first day they inforced a no smoking policy anywhere on the premisis and workers were not allowed to take in there mobile phones! instant dismissal if caught with tobacco or a mobile phone!!!

Coz i live with my partner who is supposed to support us both EVEN THOUGH WE ARN'T MARRIED (he wont give up work permanently because of the desire for 'things' that cost money such as fast-bikes and take-aways!!LOL!!:rolleyes:) So they wont give me or him dole as long as the other is in full-time employment and there's no real reason why we shouldnt be in the eyes of the DSS!!! :rolleyes::(

Ive got a few other avenues availible before i sign on! fucking hate signing on you get treated like cattle, and it pisses me off cos i work hard ya know, iv done those 16 hr days, iv swept the floor when there been fuck all else to do, but i still get looked at like somthing on the bottom of there shoe when u walk in the jobcentre.

I seriously mean this , the food is either over cooked under cooked or microwaved..... they dont ever cook something healthy... ahh no that would fuck up the normal persons McDonalds lifestyle...

Fuckers fed me on some crappy haddock/cod fillet that was so crap it was obviously left over from dinner... :( the thing was harder than bone, and i could have stabbed them with it and caused injury :S the peas were like mini projectiles too... all i can say is thankfully i was only in there for 2 days, feel very sorry for other people that have long term hospital stuff :((

luckily iv never had to stay in hospital, but i can imagine, they are out to cull us and spend our taxes on genocide in there homeland to make way for there new bases, its obvious food is medicine its what should keep us healthy, someone told me tonight that a friend of a friend gave birth the other night, there were 5 women in labour in the hospital and only one midwife, unfortunately the baby was still born and had to be delivered by the parents! :mad:

I doubt it.....but they asked if you were a smoker, and you were honest and ticked "yes", and you have been discriminated against.

If you had lied and ticked "no", you'd probably have got the job, despite that you or any of the other applicants could have been molesting small children for the past 10 years!

Ironic that asking if one is a pedophile is considered an invasion of one's privacy, despite that pedophiles are generally considered a danger to society, yet its quite O.K. to ask if you smoke, when realistically, if you smoke in designated areas, the only person you risk hurting is yourself. :rolleyes:

To tell the truth..if I really wanted that job I would have lied. Although I probably would have had no way of knowing that to admit being a smoker meant grounds for disqualification in the first place. That info would be the cause for them not to consider you. Hindsight is always 20/20. Next time just remember, "no, I do not smoke.":eek: IMO a small white lie does not comprimise one's principles if an unjustness is behind the question. Well maybe it does comprimise it a little bit.

on you starting to smoke. make sure you have it documented well (eyewitnesses, video tape etc)


then if they give you shit for smoking -- you sue them with following charges:

A: within days, the work at this company has created life threatening conditions for you by turning you into a smoker!

B: you are requesting permanent reimbursement for cost of cigarettes and decreased life span that you are now subject to

C: because of A and B you require adjusted salary and health promoting environment, say a large office with a window

D: you require them to immediately stop the discrimination towards you and request that they build you a "smoking room"

E: you request them to remove "lama" and "zoo" from company name as it is discriminatory to animals.

if people would really do this, sue the employer for discrimination against smokers -- employers would think twice before concocting such discriminatory applications
