I am currently in the process of writing the specifications for an experimental course which will allow one to obtain a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering within two years. Big deal, right? Wrong. This particular program will not require a bachelors degree or a masters degree to become a part of it due to the nature of the course. Not only that, but this service is entirely FREE as long as one commits two years of teaching the next generation of students. Here is a small list of the current requirements:

Minimum Age: 25 - this is set at this particular age due to the fact that most people don't have a clue what they want to do with their lives until this point.

Marital Status: Single - this will be required, simply for the fact that classes will be 16 hours a day, and there will be no room to support distractions, families, and relationships.

The total number of students, for the first generation, will be twelve. The amount of Ph.D professors, for the first generation, will be four. Each professor will teach for 4 hours a day, switching between Theory and Implementation; salaries will be $150,000 per year for the first two years; once the two years are up, the professors will be replaced by the former students, who will then repay their debt by teaching the next generation of studen; each professor teaching twelve students. The number of students enlisted in the program will continue to grow exponentially every two years, creating a massive pyramid effect.

I still have a lot of specifications to iron out, but this is truly a wonderful idea that can solve almost all of the problems we are experiencing today. A highly trained and highly intelligent populace is the only real way to defeat totalitarianism and religious dogma.

16hrs a day is not going to work, people dont have that kindof concentration/ dedication!! yer i wanna learn but also need the odd toilet break and check of the forum!! and some people just dont have the intelligence, its a gift you cant teach intellegence, but you can teach knowlage to intellegent people. But its a great idea other than that, also thing to bear in mind is dome people are natrually great teachers and some are natrually pants, they just dont pass on info or explain things etc.

Go for it! I don't know how you can award them doctor of philosophy degrees but that does sound cool. Min age = 25? Hopefully you don't turn away those with undergrad and grad degrees just because you don't require them. Plus, you need to find people who really have the prerequisite knowledge if you want to award Ph.D.s in EE...

16 hour days are too long though!

Good luck!

This course is aimed at people who have no experience - this is the reason for the 16 hours days - they will literally have the equivalent of a Master's degree within an 11 month time frame at 16 hours a day...and to top it off, they will be able to remember everything because they will basically be living and breathing the material on a daily basis.

People who have undergrad/graduate degrees will be treated no differently - they, too, will start from square one.

Also, the minimum age limit is so that no immature people get mixed into the group.

I like your idea, but 16 hours per day is far too long, no matter how you justify it.
