Travellers & Gypsies

Something I have been wondering recently...

Does anyone know of any traveller / gypsies / groups who turn up on a piece of land and live there for a few weeks... whatever name they might be given...

Am I right in saying they have never REGISTERED with the government? they don't have drivers licences etc?

are there any documents or video's about them? I've looked but not found so far. I quite fancy going to have a chat with some next time I see them around. I'd be very interested in their views on the 'law'

being british is something I was born in to. It appears to be something I'm learning about possibly opting out of (now I know there might well be a choice)
