I really love The X-Files!!
Be it Mulder's relentless pursuit of "The Truth" or Agent Scully's devastating sexiness, this show was one of THE best to ever hit television in my opinion and was really just so ahead of it's time!!
TRUST NO ONE!! Gotta love it!!! :D

Then again, I miss most things from the 1990s. :(

i agree it was great, the only thing that compares to it now is fringe ( which is also an excellent show and moves into the realms of shape shifting and dimensional portals and paralell universes. ) but the x files was a trailblazer and made alot of people research and think.:)

The "conspiracy" ones, i.e. with Cigarette Smoking Man and the rest of the Syndicate, were always way better than the standalone "monster of the week" episodes.
"Duane Barry" was an awesome episode!

William B Davis, I think he is starring in some other science fiction at the moment, name escapes me!

My wife and I have started watching them on video. We began with the pilot episode some time in December and have made it currently to the final episode of season 4 which we will resume with tomorrow. I think so far the 4th season is Agent Scully's pinnacle of hotness, hahaha.... It'll be awesome to have watched every single episode from first to last and I predict our finishing them somewhere around the end of February.....
And I agree hunter77, "Fringe" is a great show, so good that there's something like it on TV to present the kinds of topics that they do!!

Remember when it first hit the screens in the UK, i was hooked, i was a member of the Scottish Unidentified Flying Object Research Association ,S.U.F.O.R.A. at the time and i still believe that this series was responsible in more people coming forward and contacting us to report their UFO sightings.Still watch it sometimes but agree awe sum programme.

A few episodes really terrified me...
One ended with some guy banging on a coffin as he was being buried alive.
The one with the house full of deformed people whod rigged the place with traps.

There was one episode and in particularly a scene from it that got me a bit freaked out.It was the man who had a fetish for girls hair, he was in fact a demon. The scene from that episode was when he shape shifted into the demonic form when he was perusing Scully.

Some favourite characters besides Mulder & Scully:
Cigarette Smoking Man (aka Cancerman), brilliantly portrayed by William Davis. CSM started out as nothing more than an extra but he made the role his own and became the series' main antagonist:
http://www.youthink.com/quiz_images/quiz1059outcome4.jpg
I loved The Lone Gunmen, the conspiracy theorists who Mulder often turned to for help. It's a shame that the spin-off series about them didn't really take off:
http://ufotruth.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/lone_gunmen.jpg
Duane Barry. Alien abductee or dangerous madman? You decide.

My pleasure about the fluke pic. :) As creepy as the episode was, it did have some funny parts to it. I can't get over how Skinner and those guys wanted to arrest this thing. That's corporate for you.

i love x files too.
fox mulder is a role model in my eyes, a real truth movement hero. i try to emulate his determination, we must all find the truth.
scully is just sexy, a geeky goddess, lol
i also liked the lone gunmen, the 3 geeks, that helped them, they had an awesome setup/facilities, with all their computers etc. i would really love a set up like that.
i also want the poster fox mulder had in his office, the "i want to believe" poster.
xfiles is awesome.
i also loved quantum leap, that is my favourite tv show of all time.

Ok, tonight I've breached the 6th season and I'm really enjoying it, awesome as ever!! Started off with this episode:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beginning_(The_X-Files)
Then proceeded onto the episode entitled "Drive" where a man has to stay moving fast in a vehicle going in a westward direction to stay alive, it is one of my favorite episodes of all....
Then, onto this episode:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_(The_X-Files)
It was great too, also one of my faves!!
Next will be the two part episode(s) "Dreamland" and "Dreamland II" and I can't wait, they're HIGH on the list of my ALL-TIME Favorite episodes along with "Small Potatoes" and a few others!!
Gosh, I Love The X-Files!!!!!! :D :D :D

I'm tempted to start over again at episode 1,
I have all seasons but its 2 years now since i watched through them.
A bit time consuming but the entertainment value is sick high:D
They mentioned 2012 very early I noticed on my last watch-through, I think it gets a little mention back in episode 5, they claim it's 13(I think) years left till 'something', and it gets more mentionings later on.
Also a little side note.
The pilot episode of the spin off series 'The Lone Gunmen' predicts more than any other tv shows/movies the 9/11 disaster.
Watch it here

Well, the rest of season 6 went great and I really enjoyed them all!! Some of my favorite episodes were "The Rain King" where the town dip-stick/drunkard could bring rain to drought-stricken areas, but it turned out that it wasn't him at all, but a local weatherman and his unrequited love for his high-school sweetheart....
"Monday" was where a woman kept living the same day over and over again in a crazy time-loop that ended rather tragically for her.
"Arcadia" placed Mulder and Scully deep undercover in a cushy suburb as a married couple, really funny!!
"The Unnatural" where an alien (grey) lived on Earth and played in the negro leagues in hopes of remaining low-key enough to pursue, long-term, his life's passion, Baseball!!
And "Biogenesis".... The season finale that landed Scully in Africa to make further discoveries about the power an ancient relic possesses and it's seemingly detrimental effect on Mulder. Really great episode!!
Opening season 7 was the awesome two-part episode "The Sixth Extinction" and "The Sixth Extinction II"..... They continue onward with the storyline brought forth in the season 6 finale "Biogenesis" where Agent Mulder was hospitalized due to the negative effect on his health that a pencil-rubbing from an ancient relic has had and Scully's determination to find the cure....
"The Goldberg Variation" was awesome, such a funny one, where a very, VERY lucky guy has some pretty bad things thrown his way but seems to always come out unscathed. One of my all-time favorites!!!
"The Amazing Maleeni" is also one of my all-time fav's, hilarious in parts, mind-bending in others, but all around greatness!! Two amateur magicians (an older, more learned magician and his young protege) join forces in a most preculiar way in attempt to erase a debt, get revenge on a ex-convict AND secure their financial future. But with Mulder on the job, it seems their designs on getting rich are foiled!! Awesome episode!!!
The last episode we've watched was "Signs And Wonders" that centered around one of those old-time religion country churches that did the snake-handling. Tables were turned, things happened and Good yet again prevailed, I think....
Next up on the list is the episode "Sein und Zeit"..... Where a young girl is abducted from her home and Mulder is on the trail to find her. I'll be back to make further comment after I get a few more episodes under my belt!!
Long Live The X-Files!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I've currently just finished watching the episodes entitled "Theef" and "En Ami".... Really enjoying them, next up is the one called "Chimera". It's synopsis is as follows: "Mulder investigates what appears to be a missing case of a woman from a small town, but soon turns out to be a murder by a spirit summoned from the underworld. Scully, meanwhile, must endure an uncomfortable stakeout."
Hopefully over the weekend I can knock out the rest of the 7th season....

Well, it's been a while since I've updated this thread but I did slack up on watching episodes, but we're back in action now. Some of my favorite episodes from the last part of season 7 were:
"All Things" All Things - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While Mulder is away in England, Scully is led by coincidences, chance, fate and possibly a higher power to a married man whom she had an affair with during medical school, and a look at the life she didn’t choose, forcing her to make choices about her future.
"Hollywood AD"
An entrepreneurial Hollywood producer and college friend of Skinner picks up the idea for a film based on the X-Files, however the agents find that the level of realism in their fictional portrayal is somewhat questionable.
"Je Souhaite"
Mulder and Scully's encounter with a man and his wheelchair-bound, mentally-impaired brother leads them to an indifferent genie whose willingness to grant wishes belies a deeper motive.
I really love this episode with the genie, it's always been one of my top fav's of X-Files episodes!!
And to round out the 7th season was the episode entitled "Requiem"....
Mulder and Scully return to the site of their first investigation together when a series of abductions take place. However, Scully’s failing health, and Mulder’s concern that she is in danger, cause him to take her off the case. Meanwhile, the Cigarette-Smoking Man - on his deathbed - reunites with Marita Covarrubias and Krycek in an attempt to revive the project.
I've also just finished the entire 8th season and will only briefly highlight a few of my favored episodes although this is the season Agents Doggett and Reyes come in, which didn't really spoil it for me, but ya know, it's Always really just been about Mulder & Scully!!! :D
An overview of the entire 8th season can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_X-Files_(season_8)
Now, for a few of the best ones (in MY opinion) ....
"Within"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Within_(The_X-Files)
"Without"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Without_(The_X-Files)
"Redrum"
After his wife is murdered, a lawyer friend of Doggett's tries to clear his name of the crime but the days regress backwards.
"Vienen"
Mulder and Doggett are asked to investigate several deaths aboard an oil rig, but Mulder is convinced the rig is carrying an alien black oil; meanwhile a heavily pregnant Scully attempts to protect Mulder in absentia.
Vienen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Alone"
With Scully on maternity leave, Doggett is paired with an enthusiastic young agent who knows everything about the X-Files, and her apotheosis of Mulder and Scully leads to him learning a thing or two. But when Harrison and Doggett disappear, Mulder defies orders in an attempt to find them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alone_(The_X-Files)
And the season finale was "Existence"....
Mulder, Doggett and Skinner face off with the alien replicants as they desperately try to expose the conspiracy within the FBI. Meanwhile Scully goes into labour in a remote location, but Reyes soon learns they may be no safer there.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existence_(The_X-Files)
I have to say that I've really enjoyed watching every episode from the beginning all the way through. I'm really looking forward to starting on season 9, maybe tomorrow. It's going to be sad to finish them off, but at the same time it'll be awesome to look back over the entire series and see it for the "bigger picture". I'll be back soon with updates from the ride through season 9!!!

I gotta say season 9 is a bit of a let down, I'm not really feelin' it.... I mean, it's great because it's the X-Files, but with the new characters and no Mulder and not much Scully, well, it's just not as awesome. I will press onward and finish the final season and be back with a run down of my favorite episodes.

Well, I finished the final season of The X-Files today, the last three episodes were all I had left. The final two being a 2-parter "The Truth" 1 & 2. As already mentioned I didn't feel that seasons 8 or 9 packed the same punch as earlier ones, kinda like they were running out of steam, but still they were good and I'm glad that I watched them all the way through from first to last!! And it's only taken me 9 months, haha!!! :D
(And by the way, this isn't the first time I've seen the entire series, but it was the first time for maybe 3 or 4 episodes....)

Hello.
I did a similar run though the whole series last year, and i got to say it was well worth it. Even the two last seasons, i remember watching the series when i was younger and at that time it was a serious hit to my fanhood to have the new characters and stuff. But later on it was a lot better experience to watch and i even started to like agent Doggett character. I think he's quite cool after all. :D
I'd love to know more about what it meant, remember when Chris Carter said the famous little thing about "insider information" put here and there in the series.... I remember somebody mentioning he being a mason and stuff.
It would be enlightening to know the TRUTH about this. :D

I started watching the first season a few weeks ago. My dad gave me his X Files box set collection so I'm going to watch every episode from every season. I'm still on the first one and have to admit I get a bit bored by it sometimes. I'm hoping it picks up and gets better which I'm sure it will. I don't remember much about it from when I watched it when it was on tv years ago but I remember it was interesting and I really enjoyed it until the last couple of seasons when it went really weird.

When I was younger I said when I start working I'll watch the entire series of Seinfeld and The X-Files. Haven't done the latter yet.
I've noticed - because I've seen these digits A LOT lately - in the very 1st episode Scully is asleep when Mulder calls her. She rolls over and the alarm clock goes from 11:21 to 11:22.
In the very last episode with Mulder & Scully in the hotel room at the end, the camera pans to the alarm clock and it's 11:22.
If I remember correctly.

The X-Files (also known as The X-Files: Fight the Future) is a 1998 American science fiction-thriller film.

The film opens in North Texas, 35,000 BC. Entering a cave, a Neanderthal man stumbles upon what appears to be a large extraterrestrial lifeform. They fight and the caveman wins, stabbing the creature to death, but is infected by black oil. In 1998 small-town Texas, a young boy falls down a hole and finds a human skull. As he picks it up, black oil seeps out from the ground and slithers up his body until it reaches his head, causing his eyes to turn black.

Mulder and Scully travel to the crime scene in Texas. On the way they follow a convoy of tanker trucks to a large cornfield surrounding two bright, glowing domes. When they enter the domes, they find them empty, but grates in the floor open up and a thick swarm of bees forces the agents out onto the cornfield.

Mulder travels to Antarctica to save Scully, and discovers a secret underground laboratory run by their enemy the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis). The notion of Terra Australis was introduced by Aristotle.

Although myths and speculation about a Terra Australis ("Southern Land") date back to antiquity, the first confirmed sighting of the continent is commonly accepted to have occurred in 1820 by the Russian expedition of Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev.
Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent, encapsulating the South Pole. It is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. At 14.0 million km2 (5.4 million sq mi), it is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. For comparison: Antarctica is nearly twice the size of Australia. About 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice that averages at least 1.6 kilometres (1.0 mi) in thickness.
The Antarctic Treaty was signed in 1959 by 12 countries; to date, 47 countries have signed the treaty.
Ongoing experiments are conducted by more than 4,000 scientists of many nationalities and with various research interests.

The hippocampus is a major component of the brains of humans and other mammals. It belongs to the limbic system and plays important roles in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory and spatial navigation.

Like the cerebral cortex, with which it is closely associated, it is a paired structure, with mirror-image halves in the left and right sides of the brain. In humans and other primates, the hippocampus is located inside the medial temporal lobe, beneath the cortical surface.
The earliest description of the ridge running along the floor of the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle comes from the Venetian anatomist Julius Caesar Aranzi (1587), who initially likened it to a seahorse, using the Latin: hippocampus (from Greek: ἵππος, "horse" and Greek: κάμπος, "sea monster") or alternatively to a silkworm.
Some types of insects, and molluscs such as the octopus, also have strong spatial learning and navigation abilities, but these appear to work differently from the mammalian spatial system, so there is as yet no good reason to think that they have a common evolutionary origin.

Sexuality and reproduction
The very phrase "every sperm is sacred" has become almost proverbial in the field of animal and human sexuality and reproduction, and by extension in such areas as cloning,

Cloning in stem cell research / Somatic cell nuclear transfer
Somatic cell nuclear transfer, known as SCNT, can also be used to create embryos for research or therapeutic purposes. The most likely purpose for this is to produce embryos for use in stem cell research. This process is also called "research cloning" or "therapeutic cloning." The goal is not to create cloned human beings (called "reproductive cloning"), but rather to harvest stem cells that can be used to study human development and to potentially treat disease. While a clonal human blastocyst has been created, stem cell lines are yet to be isolated from a clonal source.

Cloning in biology is the process of producing similar populations of genetically identical individuals that occurs in nature when organisms such as bacteria, insects or plants reproduce asexually. Cloning in biotechnology refers to processes used to create copies of DNA fragments (molecular cloning), cells (cell cloning), or organisms. The term also refers to the production of multiple copies of a product such as digital media or software.

Dolly, a Finn-Dorset ewe, was the first mammal to have been successfully cloned from an adult cell. She was cloned at the Roslin Institute in Scotland and lived there from her birth in 1996 until her death in 2003 when she was six. Her stuffed remains were placed at Edinburgh's Royal Museum, part of the National Museums of Scotland

Human cloning
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of an existing or previously existing human. The term is generally used to refer to artificial human cloning; human clones in the form of identical twins are commonplace, with their cloning occurring during the natural process of reproduction. There are two commonly discussed types of human cloning: therapeutic cloning and reproductive cloning. Therapeutic cloning involves cloning adult cells for use in medicine and is an active area of research. Reproductive cloning would involve making cloned humans. A third type of cloning called replacement cloning is a theoretical possibility, and would be a combination of therapeutic and reproductive cloning. Replacement cloning would entail the replacement of an extensively damaged, failed, or failing body through cloning followed by whole or partial brain transplant.

A whole-body transplant or brain transplant is a hypothetical operation that would move the brain of one being into the body of another. It is a procedure distinct from head transplant, which involves transferring the entire head to a new body, as opposed to the brain only. Theoretically, a person with advanced organ failure could be given a new and functional body while keeping their own personality and memories.

Seahorse
Chivalry, Protection
When someone receives a Seahorse totem,
their own sense of chivalry is awakened.
The protection of the young and those
weaker than themselves.
Seahorse people should pay
attention to a "two-week" time period
for their endeavors.
The Seahorse also brings forth a time of romance.
For women, time to choose her mate and for men, a time to seek
out the right woman and court her.
A person with a Seahorse totem should ask themselves these questions:
Is it time to reverse roles: to be the provider or the nurturer?
Do I need to be more responsive to my partner?
Am I providing enough protection for my loved ones?
Seahorses also facilitate contact with Water Spirits
who may take mortals into their favor and under their protection.
Seahorses can be the bridge between the Spirit Water World and the Living World.
http://www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/seahorse.htm
Caution, patience, grounding, time to take on different roles than accustomed to, time to observe watch and move slowly with awareness, keep eyes forward and mind focused. Lessons of protection, peace, grace and emotional clarification and nourishing qualities for yourself and others.
Sea Horse awakens the male/female balance of duties and responsibilities. Aids in bringing forth romance and deeper connections to relationships. Is it time to reverse roles from provider to one who nurtures? Do you need to be more understanding towards friends and family? It is time to be aware of the watery emotions of others. Sea horse will aid in this balance.

I eventually got fed up with the X-files because it degenerated into a sort of routine cop show with boring grisly deaths every week instead of sticking with simple subtle spooky stuff.
PS- i never had the hots for Scully, she always seemed too hardboiled to me, and her shoes and dress sense were hideously dull and unsexy.
Give me Nurse Chappell in Star Trek any time, her miniskirt was only an inch below 'c' level..

I agree. Basically another cop show with a spooky twist. Some of the episodes were excellent, though, and it still beat whatever else was on.

Never got the chance to watch X-Files, then when I took ill last year I found time to start watching from the start, from the 1st episode...think I'm somewhere around season 5 or 6 now....not far after 'Musings of A Cigarette Smoking Man', which was cool, if not quite entirely factual!
Fave episode so far is defo 'Jimmy Chung's from outer space'.
Actually, maybe it's no coincidence that's my fave episode, eh Phem? ;) Might have to watch it again, cos despite some bad shit in it, I felt awesome at the end of that episode.
