But still, the world didn't make sense to me, despite years of sorting through the puzzle pieces - not one time did I ever examine the "God" piece of the puzzle too closely. It was only after I'd been through the puzzle a million times, and still couldn't make it fit, that I decided to take a look at the one piece I took for granted as given truth, and it was only then that I realized that the "God" of the bible was a hoax. I would never have known that such a being "existed" if I hadn't been told about him.

Now I understand that the Love, energy, wisdom and infinity is not some omnipotent bible deity called "God." My personal experience is that feeling the Love, energy, wisdom and infinity of the "Universe," and somehow attributing it to "God" is dangerously ignorant. That's just my personal experience.

If "God" makes you happy, I'm happy for you. The whole "God" thing always left me with questions, which nobody can answer without quoting from this man-written book called the bible. Here's another interesting thought. Or at least I found it interesting when it occurred to me.

If you had lived your whole life on a deserted island, with only a Holy Bible to read. And you had studied it front to back. Then, suddenly, you were rescued and returned to the world. Except for the fact that they use the same names and words, you would not look at the churches of the world and say these are the same as Jesus Christ's Church.

Kind of like if you had only ever eaten at McDonalds, and then someone took you to a Burger King one day and said this is McDonalds. You would say, no, it's not. Sure, they'd say. See, it's got hamburgers, french fries, milk shakes - all the same things. But you would know the difference. They would look different, and not even taste the same.

So who knows. If you had never been told about a false version of God - an imposter - then maybe you would have come to know God better. And maybe you would have realized that He really is the God of the Bible.

God has said that if you repent of your sins, and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, then the gift of the Holy Spirit will be given to you. You will be spiritually born again - once in bondage to sin, now saved and freed by Jesus Christ.

Now there are many, many people who follow false Christs - just as Jesus said they would. But think about it. A person who finds the true Christ, and who does repent of his sins, he will know if God's promises are true. There are people who have been trapped in addictions; or disease; and all kinds of sin. And nothing they tried could heal them, or set them free. Then, when they turned to Jesus, suddenly they were healed. Doctors couldn't help them; nothing. And just like that, they are healed. A person doesn't live through something like that, and then come away still not believing - no matter what anyone else thinks, they know what they've lived through.

But now suppose for your whole life, you refuse to turn to Jesus and repent of your own sins. Then you're like a person who's trying to see the inside of a home, when you're only willing to stand on the outside trying to look in. Only the people inside truly know what the home looks like. Only the people who were willing to come in can be part of the family who lives there. And unless a person comes in, then they can never understand. That's how God designed it. And Jesus is the narrow gate that people must enter through.

I was born an atheist. In fact, the first lie I told was that I believed in God. I was no more than five, and my grand mother had a cross that I thought looked really good. She told me I could have it only if I believed, and I just said "yes".
